Paul commends these believers for their faithfulness, loving deeds, and looking forward to that blessed hope of the Lord’s return. As Christians, we should always live with these characteristics.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
One of my favorite verses! He helps motivate us to good stuff and gives us the strength to do it also! Without Jesus we can do nothing! With him we can do anything! (According to his will) What an awesome God!

SUPER GOOD WHAT A BLESSING Paul said it and you taught it just like it came to me. First I had faith then I realized God's love and that caused me to love Him, faith and love provided the hope I have in believing the Scripture promises which give me the patience to wait on the Lord! *HALLELUJAH*

Good morning preacher enjoy the lesson so very much. Sometimes faith is as simple as just clinging to Jesus with a willingness to depend on him. And the ability to do that comes from love I pray the Lord keep you ever close to him and watch over you and keep you the Apple of his eye!🙏❤️🙏

Wow! Love the cabin scene! That is awesome! Great study tonight, Dr. Bagwell! This is a personal letter or epistle written by Paul to these believers. The Thessalonian church was a working church. They were not lazy or lukewarm. Paul is remembering these qualities of the church in a means of encouraging them. People will concentrate on the area where they are praised or noticed. "Remembering" means "being mindful or making mention of". "Without ceasing/ἀδιαλείπτως/
adialeiptōs means "to remember and not plan to forget it". "Faith, love & hope" are 3 important qualities of the Christian life. See 1 Cor. 13. Paul said there abideth faith, hope & charity. These are the three key ingredients in the Christian life. It all begins for the Christian with faith. We are saved through faith in the Saviour. James says if you show your faith without works, he doesn't believe you. If you show your faith by your works, he will believe you. Paul says we are saved by grace through faith and not of works. Many say there is a divide or controversy between Paul and James. Not so. We are saved by faith alone, but faith is not dormant. Faith will always lead to good works. Saving faith leads to works. "Works"/ἔργον/ergon. Faith will give you the energy to tell others about the Lord and serve Him. "Love"/ἀγάπη/agapē. See 1 Cor. 13 again. Paul begins with faith and ends with love. Peter begins with faith and ends with love. However, Paul inverts the last two. We have faith which works by love. It must be motivated by the love of God in your heart. If you love the Lord, you will labor for HIm and HIs causes. "Labour"/κόπος/kopos/to labor so hard that you are exhausted. The Christian life begins with saving faith, but the Longer we live for HIm, and serve Him, the work will not get easier, but it will get harder. The devil will fight more furiously. The longer you serve the Lord, the more difficult it will be. If we labor without love we will soon quit. "Work of faith" is past tense, we were saved years ago. "Labour of love" is present tense. We want to go to revivals and church because we love our Bibles, our Saviour and other brothers and sisters in the Lord. "Hope" is future tense. "Patience"/ὑπομονή/hupomonē. We keep going because of the patience of hope. "Patience" is "endurance of hope". Whatever load is on us, we will be patient and endure it. The more our faith grows, the more we will love Him and there will be a labouring of that love. We will endure and not quit hoping in the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. "Sight"/ἔμπροσθεν/emprosthen. The longer you serve him, the harder the devil will fight you. See 1 Cor. 15:58. We need to sit down, buckle up and not allow the winds of this world to sway us. We should also be unmoveable. When the world hits us, we will not be moved. "Always abounding" means "bubbling over". Our labour is not in vain in the Lord. Difficult times will come, we will not quit but we will focus on our faith. (See Rom. 10:17). Bible hope is that God said it and I believe it. Jesus said He is coming and that is found in 1 Thess. 4. We should cling to the Lord like those vines do the tree. These people are suffering in Thessalonia. Christians then were forced to say, "Caesar is Lord". When they didn't, they were killed for the Lord. God said it and it will happen. What is in the Book, if it has not happened yet, it will. Paul calls the rapture of the church "the blessed hope". Definition of hope is fervently clinging to the Word of God as the ivy clings to the oak tree. These believers could not even hold a job because they would pray to one of the false gods. Even their children had to be educated in an alternate way because paganism was rampant in the school system. The Roman government would require once a year that everyone was forced to take a pinch of incense, throw it on the fire and say, "Caesar is Lord". A Christians cannot do that because we believe Jesus is Lord. Those believers were mocked and rejected by society. Paul said how much he admired their love, their faith and their hope. "Knowing" means "perceiving, understanding". "Beloved" means "everlasting and unending love". "Election"/ἐκλογή/eklogē. We are elected of God. "Election" means that God did some choosing. "Election" does not mean that God chooses some to be saved and others to be lost. God elect corporally. He elected Israel and He elected the church as His body. Whosoever will can be placed into the church. Great study tonight, Dr. Bagwell! Thank you so much for these wonderful studies!

Gosh, I'm so glad I have your lessons to learn from! And they are always right on point! I was just speaking to someone this morning about how hard life is as you get older, but that I'm counting on the Lord to give me the strength to keep going. And to keep PRAISING HIS NAME and TO KEEP SPEAKING AND SINGING ABOUT HIM!
I knew a preacher who used to come to my church, who had had several heart attacks and he insisted on keeping on praising the Lord and preaching! He would pop nitros in his mouth while he was on the stage preaching and just keep going!
Sometimes I feel like I'm under attack by Satan when he doesn't want me to sing that solo in church that's coming up. But I tell him to get behind me!!
On a personal note, I'm looking for a part-time side job because I just can't survive on my retirement $ and my singing $ is just not enough. I'm praying that God will help me find a way! But it's really forcing me out of my comfort zone to do this after 15 years of not working a regular job. I know you're a very busy man but please pray for me do you have some success in this area?! Thank you brother!
