    You two always make me smile with your goofy humor. I really appreciate how simple many of your recipes are. On these long summer days we often find ourselves working outside later than usual and it is nice to have meals that come together so quickly. Thank you! Take care.

    It's Feb 2021 and I don't know how I could have missed this video. One of my favorite dishes but I have never cooked fresh clams before. Thanks Kathy for showing me how to cook fresh clams. Now I have to try it!! Melaney from SoCal

    That looks really good Rick and Kathy. I make this dish every now and then but I just use Snows canned chopped clams. I’ll have to try it with fresh clams !

      I'm sure the recipe is great with chopped clams too. And yes, give yourself a treat with the fresh ones too. Thanks for your comment!

    That looks delicious! I make this often, especially in the summer. Never used fresh clams, but canned. I also like fresh parsley and lemon added.

    I love clams, what a wonderful dish. Do you have steamers in your area? When I lived in Massachusetts I loved steamers .

    • @PastaWord
      @PastaWord  4 года назад +1

      We get different kinds of clams and mussels seasonally. This week is the first I saw the littlenecks from the Chesapeake in a while, but we will get more variety in a couple weeks, I hope. We love steamers too. Thanks for your nice comment.

    That looks like a nice dish. Only thing for me is I don't care for the chewiness of Clams? I have tried them over the years and I have yet to get some that wasn't chewy? But I love the flavor of them. Is there such a thing as a bite through Clam without having to chew it like gum?

    • @PastaWord
      @PastaWord  4 года назад

      I find that fresh clams are less chewey. And the smaller cherrystone or little necks are less rubbery also. But to avoid the chewing, you can cook them and chop them. You can also buy them in cans, when they are already chopped or minced.

    I've never cooked with clams before. Why do they go to the trash if cracked or if they don't open up within a set amount of time?

    • @PastaWord
      @PastaWord  4 года назад +1

      Good question! If they don't open up, it could indicate that they weren't alive when the cooking started. Cracked indicates some type of stress to the clam and perhaps it wasn't alive either. Either situation could be havens for bacteria. So it's best to only eat those in perfect condition.

      Thank you, Margaret! We bought the clams at Wegmans, a nearby grocery store that has a very fresh and reliable seafood department. In fact, I used to work there; and the head chef for the store showed me how to make this recipe so I could serve samples of the delicious littleneck clams to the customers.
