- A little story of my journey to South Korea. Hellooo good people, I'm new to RUclips and I'm sharing details of what it took for me to get here. In the same light, you will learn a littel more about me and hopefully stick around to see what life in South Korea is like from my POV.

Yes it was, but it was a reasonable price, about R600 for the night. Found it on Bookings.com.
Hi Shirley kudos to you 🥳 i'm so happy for you. I'm also a grade 12 physics teacher here in SA. I also want to quit and go work abroad. My fear is my principal that guy gives me way too much credit. He believes in me so much because students like me a lot. They say i'm a good teacher etc and so my fear is, would he let me go if i want resign next year?
Hey Calvin! Thank you for watching🌻! I'm sure they will be very sad to see you leave but I think its also important for you to follow what you want to do. Your principal can't really stop you from leaving, it's your choice honestly. I also feared leaving my job but honestly it was the best decision I ever made, I can always go back and teach in South Africa, I still have my teaching qualification and so will you!
@@Shirley.sThirties Yes mam. Nobody can stop me from leaving and proceeding in life. Pursuing green pastures elsewhere. Teaching is draining and stressing in SA and the salary that comes with that stress is not worth it.

Hey I’d like to know if you get fetched from the airport by the people from the agency and provided a place to stay whilst you haven’t gone to your apartment?
Hey I applied through EPIK so we went straight to orientation. The only reason we booked a hotel is because we arrived the day before orientation began. But they do pick you up from the airport to take you to orientation. Your apartments are usually already available when you arrive in your city.
hi shirley, education student here just want to ask what their opinion is of tattoos, i heard that they are a bit strict when it comes to tattoos
Hey there. So tattoos are somewhat frowned upon but they do accept them as long as they can be covered, especially when at work. You just need to declare them and explain how you'll keep them covered.
Hey babe, were you permanent at the school and how was the process of resigning and did you get your retirement package in time for your big move?
Hey girl yes I was permanent. The process is pretty simple. I informed my HOD and principal before resigning and they assisted me with the process. I just needed to write a resignation letter and fill out a termination of service letter. The only complicated form is the package one but if you start ahead of time you'll get it done. I didn't get my package but I also wasn't trying to, the aim was simply to move it to another RA so I wasn't necessarily pressed about the time it took.
Hi. I am also from South Africa and looking to travel to South Korea through i-to-i. The part that I stress the most about is doing the whole process alone especially flying, finding hotels etc. Did you fly with a group of South Africans and went through the process with them or did you do everything alone. Do you have any insight or advice for me on where to begin my journey? Thank you Angelique
Hello Angelique! So I'm not sure how i-to-i works but with EPIK we all applied individually and ppl created WhatsApp groups for those that were coming during the Fall intake so it was through those groups that ppl made connections and shared their flight itineraries. That's where I found someone to book a room at a hotel with for the night before we left for orientation the following day. Other than that, I flew on my own, I just happened to sit next to someone who was also coming through EPIK but we didn't know each other from a bar of soap. I would say that you're likely to meet other ppl who will be coming to SK along the way. Otherwise there should be a Facebook group for applicants arriving at the time you'll be arriving. I'm sure you can make connections there.

It depends, I paid about R15 000.
Are you given a timeframe to send your documents to SK after passing your interview? *e.g send within 4weeks.
Yes you are. I can't remember the exact time frame but there is one.

I connected with some other South Africans who were also traveling to South Korea before leaving so we met on arrival at the airport.

@@Shirley.sThirties how did u do it in terms of bank cards and simcards lyk they're usuble in SK?
@@lisanomafola6804 yeah they are, you just need to inform your bank that you're leaving the country and your simcard provider so they can put you on roaming. Both options are expensive though so when we arrived we immediately bought Korean simcards and opened up our Korean bank accounts once all our documentation was ready.
