  • In this adventure, I jump into Colombia's capital. Bogota is a city most foreigners overlook due to its reputation. I will spend my time in the popular district known and Chapinero. Due to the high altitude of the city, I struggled to get around and complete basic tasks. Follow me into yet another urban unknown.

I think a lot of tourists stay away from Bogota because (1) it’s in the mountains. High altitude means it rains a lot and never gets above 75. However to me it resembles NY in many ways. It’s on a grid and a lot of people. I think close to 10 million. The further you go north the nicer it gets. I mean real nice. Some of the nicest malls I’ve seen in my travels. (2) no beach (3) the people have a reputation of being a little cold, much like New Yorkers. Compared to the coast. However, like New York it’s not exactly true.

As a black man that lived in Bogota for 1 year and a half, I never once had anyone on the street ask me if I wanted a girl, or got approached by a working girl on the street. I would have to say that you gave yourself away with the camera. As for the altitude, I never got use to it even after more than a year. People don’t realize the altitude is 3,500 feet higher than Denver in Bogota.

Hi Gil! Thank you my brother and Yes! You can get a very small room - with shower, wifi and TV at Zona Express in the San Diego area of Medellin for about 10 bucks a day... They take reservations via WhatsApp.
You can also get some for $10 USD in the El Centro area.....
Let me give you a pro tip that will save you about $40 USD...
Do NOT take a taxi to Medellin when you land at (MDE) which is actually in Rio Negro..... Take the small buses.... As soon as you get outside the terminal you will see them.... They have one that goes to El Centro and one to San Diego...... its 13MIL pesos - so that's about $2.60 USD.

I have a ring light and studio lighting but I rarely use any of it due to the speed at which I move and the desire not to call too much attention to myself when filming….
I use a setting called HDR on the camera in low light situations…. It turns off the internal stabilization so I add stabilization plus additional “Brightness” or “Magic Enhance” when in the editor…. sometimes if I need a little more lighting I will use the light on my cell or portable battery.

Then everything is obvious. I saw a glimpse of her after you walked off. I have been watching videos on Colombia for about ten years now. I prefer to watch Medellin videos. Places like Laureles and Enviado. Las paisas there are more appealing to me than the Indigenous type that are predominant in Bogota.
I had subscribed a few years ago with a guy who ended his video with the same phrase you use…”deuces.” I am sure you know of him.
