DUDE! I had just rebuilt my brakes and bled forward backwards sideways and inside out, I could not get it right . I was about to bleed submerged in fluid and though I would try this, this is the BEST my brakes have ever felt. I don’t MX I ride enduro so my front brake is SUPER important! Thanks a lot Cameron!!!
Front brake is important no matter what you race haha. I put a new line on mine and now I got nothing. I've bled at the banjo bolts and everything it's weird
With the master cylinder lid off, lightly tap your front break repeatedly. You will start to see little bubbles rise to the top of the fluid. Do this until you see no more bubbles and you can hear caliper start to engage. Don’t have to loosen any bolts or bleeders. Just take master cylinder lid off and light tap.
Does this actually work?
@@jamesconsiglio8029 yes i bled my brake’s yesterday and this was the best way. Even for a new caliper set up
Will try this rn front brake been a pain for the last 2 days
I did this and bubbles came out but I still have no front break
Great work dude. This trick totally fixed my front brake spongyness.
I got a large syringe at a feed store. Put fluid into the system from the bottom. Only way to get brakes on a Ducati to work right. Works great on dirt bikes too!
Reverse bleeding is not suggested for abs brakes tho
DAVID RESPECT then why does snap on. Matco sell that tool to make the job easier???
@@DirtbikeDad for regular brakes of course.
So would I fill the fluid into the bleeder valve?
@@davidrespect6471 can you get ABS on MX bikes?
Thanks for making this video. Thanks for showing the trick. After rebuilding the master cylinder on my 2003 Honda Foreman Rubicon, I couldn't get the air out of the system to save my life. I never had this trouble in 43+ years of doing my own brake work on all types of vehicles. After hours of bleeding the system, it wouldn't create pressure unless I pumped the handle several times. About the trick: I tied the brake handle back for 16 hours. When I checked it, the brake lever created pressure the first try. I believe that there is still air in the system, is I'll tie the handle back for another 24 hours to see if I get better results.
If you use a clear tube you can see when air bubbles stop coming out!
Thank you so much for posting though, I didn't know you could bleed at the banjo bolts
After 6 months building I got to the front brake today didn’t take me so long to lose my patience almost gave it up then checked your video thanks the help again man!
You are my hero!! I have been struggling to try to get my front brake fully bled on my 350 exc for I don't know how long. This worked great. Did a normal bleeding then zip ties the front brake lever. Voila!! Next morning...full pressure. Thank you so much for this tip. BTW, Motion Pro makes a great little bleeding tool. It is a one way valve that you hook up with the included tubing to the bleeder valve. Then you do not have to sequentially open and close the valve. Got mine through Rocky Mountain ATV. Around $13
Cheers man! I was whacking away at the brake lever and nothing was happening until I tried opening open the upper banjo bolt. Slowly but surely got some pressure going. I'll wrap the lever overnight just to get the last little bit of air out.
Duuuuude cracked the top banjo a few times and WAH-LAW! We have some good pressure after an hour of squeezing lever and cracking bleeder.. Thank you
Do you leave the top cap open while tieing the ever together overnight
No
2:37 Oh, wow! Thank you for explaining that. I had to do this after a new front tire was put on my motorcycle, and it worked! For some reason, the front brakes had felt mushy/squishy after the tire change. Perhaps it has to due with my brake fluid being really brown and old? I really don't know; just guessing.
Cos your mechanic pulled away the brake pads to re install the wheel. Then probably the air went back to the system.
@@theforester_
Probably. Thanks.
Top tip! Did this to my KTM EXC front brake last night, and today no more squishy lever...thanks!!! 👍🏻
Dude that quick little turn on the bleeder bolt with the three pumps worked like magic.
I watched a couple videos and by far the most specific with an example of how to do it. opposed to just telling you what to do in other videos... like if we all went to school for this stuff. Thanks video helped me
So....the "secret" trick of locking your brake lever back (2:26 in the video) overnight WORKS!!! Brilliant tip! Thanks, Man! I pumped the lever and filled the reservoir for an hour and couldn't get it tight. I put a strip of velcro around the lever and grip overnight and now the lever is nice and firm. Braaaaap!
Hope this works. I’m almost out of brake fluid...
@@spongeborgtheford4971 do tell! I noticed considerable improvement. I used a strip of Velcro to hold the lever engaged and left it overnight.
I’m using some random hair band that was left in a drawer. Works pretty good. I’ll give an update tomorrow.
It works!!! I have braking power! Not too much, but it’s usable!
@@spongeborgtheford4971 awesome! Glad it worked!
Yes. The secret tips work! Now I have better braking feel and more braking power without the mess! Thanks a million!
Good job with these tips are very useful
Thanks Chip!
+Cameron Niemela nice video. my brake lever is too firm and the brakes are stuck to the disk rotor how do I fix this
thank god for you. banjo bolt!
Hi. Need a lil help here! I got a 05 650. No brakes so I did all new calipers. Still no brakes. Just replaced master cylinder still no lock. Handle still don't seem to be doing much. Pretty lose goes all the way in! Any ideas what it might be? Thanks
Again, Love ya work Cameron, Hope your doin' well.... G'Day again from Melbourne Australia
Hey guys. When you do the overnight zip tie trick, do you leave the master cylinder caps off or leave them on?
You leave them on
Thanks ,it works ,did what you said and this morning the brakes worked
Thanks for the tip of using a cable tie to hold the brake lever in the squeezed position - it did away with using a second person.
Some brake lines run higher than the master cylinder and can trap air there.
Hi Cameron. When you tie up the brake lever overnight, do you open or close the bleed valve? Thanks
closed
Thank you sooOoooOo much . If I didn't have ur video lesson Cameron . New caliper ...so im startin at b.bolt . Thanks 100%
@Cameron Niemela should a guy leave the cap open when leaving brake handle squeezed overnight?
Hey I appreciate the secrets/tips. I see some people reverse bleed their brakes instead of regular bleed. Do you recommend one way over the other?
Did you need to leave the cap open when left over night?
Big thanks, straight forward...
I changed my brake pads and I couldn't quite compress the piston enough to get the new pads in so I loosened the bolt that holds the brake line on and that made it easier to compress the piston and I got it really far in and now I cannot get it out. Think im going to try the air compressor method to get the piston out.
I use a syringe and open the fitting replacing the liquid and fill the reservoir and then use the syringe to bleed the system and works very well and fast
That's a great idea!
Thank you for sharing! In regards to your lever tie off, wouldn't the air bubbles release better over night leaving MC cover off while zipped tied? Thanks again, Great Job!! 👍
worked like a charm thanks man
Do you think the zip-tie trick does the same thing with a hydraulic clutch?
awesome
Still watching old videos again and again
Thanks so much man!
Hey Cameron, great video- thanks. Looks like your Revive site is down?
This will make life much easier
cool little simple informative video, appreciate it
Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks man you honestly made my day a lot easier
this video saved my life!! thank you
Ooh i shall have to try the cable tie thing on my '98 Africa twin, my front brake is squishy and theres seems to be no air.
Might need a new master cylinder, but im too cheap for that!
Can you retap the left side oil drain hole on a yz450f without getting metal inside the engine? Is it steel or aluminum? The previous owner tapped it part way with a larger size and used a chopped off screw to plug it. I don't like that idea because it doesn't use enough of the threads and I'm afraid to torque to specs.
Thanks Cameron for your videos they are super PRIME!
Don't like the banjo bolt option. Those crash washers work best tightening once.Reapeted tightening will make it harder to seal.
Well I was in my bed and felt like watching a little youtube before I went to sleep, and then this video came up. So I got my clothes back on and ran to the garage to try this on one of my bikes that weirdly enough never really had a working front brake. Now Im back in my bed and thinking (will this really work? Am I finally gonna get a working frontbrake?) and Im now too excited to sleep...
Stay tuned for tomorrows progress :)
(in about 12 hours or so)
GuitarSensei did it work?
@@xavierlavalley398 oh sorry I forgot to comment, but no... it didn't :/
I have honestly changed everything and even redo it all again but nothing seems to work, its not leaking anywhere or take in air, and everything is greased properly so im out of ideas... it really most be a supernatural problem..
No wonder I am subsribed to you ! Your videos are right to the point, and you know your shit when it comes time to fix bikes ! Here I was pumping my brake like a moron from the bleeder screw and not achieving pressure on the handle ! Your explanation is exactly what I needed ! Now the brake works flawless ! Thanks Cameron and keep up the great work man !
Hello. Im still having a hard time on making the pressure back to my master cylinder. What did you do to make your brake works? Thanks alot
@@Desolator-fz5em exactly what he said in the video ! Go directly to the Banjo boat ! then pressure will start building up !
I hope your feeling a lot better man
Great standard bleed video.
Awesome! Bleeding at the banjo bolt got pressure in the system in seconds. Been bleeding with bleeder valve for ever and no pressure. Thanks!
Bottom or top? I'm trying with mine through the valve but it isn't doing it.
I had pumped it for about 30 minutes and never got pressure to the lever
Wud B even better if you showed what level to make the fluid in the window once the lever feels solid. Nice vid, guy!
So when you're using new components it takes more bleeding to get all the air out?
You have a great smile😁
thanks brother your awesome.
So did you first remove all the old fluid??
What about our rear brakes? When did you show that in the video ?
thank u new to dirt bike DIY
Great video
Is this alsow works for rear brake?🤔
Thanks so much!!!! This video saved me!!!!!
Thanks so much
So if you bleed from the banjo, does the bleeder valve stay open during this process?
by far the best videos!
can't get any pressure in my rear brake system :/ I tried bleeding it from the banjo bolt but it didn't wort... any tips? the system worked good but when I changed the brake disk and brakepads I hate to remove the caliper so thats why I have a "dry" system
Thanks
What do I do when I have dual front discs?
Thanks man 😊
Awesome vid and edits and filming and bike and shop
I have a Honda foreman FM TRX450. no front hydrolic breaks. Replaced the Master cylinder, both wheel cylinders and pads. I can not get pressure. tried bleeding Master Cylinder and both wheel cylinders, Installed new pads. used a vacuum pump, tried hand bleeding but I can not get pressure
Having a hell of a time getting pressure to my brakes. This'll be my attack plan tomorrow.
I had to bleed then back bleed with cyringe then prime master cylinder then tighten master cylinder banjo then half zip tie lever back overnight nightmare and flick lines last little bit came out after riding for a while
I did a full caliper rebuild on my 99YZ125. New pistons, seals, etc. I am unable to get any pressure whatsoever after about 4 full reservoirs. I had my lever all the way down overnight. Nothing. Fluid and air have come to a creeping halt. Advice?
Have the same issue.. You ever get it to work?
I broke the peice that connects the brake line to the rear caliper it unscrews out if the caliper but I need to know what that price is called
Great upload thank you very much
How does this trapped air escape from the brake line if the lever is tie wrapped in? Air would have to pass the seal in the master cylinder which it cannot if the lever is in. Pulling the lever is supposed to lock the pressure in the brake line, if any air, or fluid can pass the seal then the brakes won’t work at all.
My bleeder valve is stuck. I hope this is the answer to my problem. Using bolt.
Thank you... it works...
Hey Cameron, just wondering if you could give me any advice on my bike. I checked everything last night to make sure it was ready and when I went to load the bike there was no front breaks. I’ve checked for fluid and there is heaps, it’s just not pumping out, not even a drop every like 10 squeezes. Any help would be great, cheers 😅
This video may help with bleeding too ruclips.net/video/xHAIUwRZu5A/видео.html
Try bleeding out your banjo bolt or zip tying the lever overnight
You are the man, thank you
What do you do if there is no pressure at all in the brake lever?
ruclips.net/video/xHAIUwRZu5A/видео.html
Thanks man. It worked
Great to hear!
I took a digger recently and my front brake is lose no pressure at all and it's leaking down at the bottom of the line at the caliper when I compress it when though there isn't any pressure.
Anyone have any ideas?
My back brake has good pads and no air bubbles in the line. It barely slows down and I don’t know what to do
Thank You
Hi . I have a pitbike and it was park for 1 year the brake fuild is gone. I put new fluid but it's not pumping the new fluid I tried to remove air from the bleeding valve and not working plz help
can you do idle cable installation video for crf450r
I'll keep that in mind!
so what am i supposed to do when even if i open banjo bolt from master cylinder there is 1 to 2 drops of fluid coming out and after that nothing?
Air should technically be gone, but I wouldn't worry about bleeding from the banjo. Too messy. Get some "Tygon" tubing and put it in a bottle with old or new brake fluid and just bleed from the nipple.
I had a question i need a brake master cylinder for my kx 125 1998. I found some that are expensive OEM ones but honda and yamaha have OEM master cylinder for alot cheaper. Can i use a cr 125 or yz 125 front brake master cylinder on my kx125? I would apprciate your thoughts.
Yes, absolutely you can use other front masters. They're fairly interchangeable.
very smart dude.
Oh yeah learned something new bro!
Great to hear!
very helpful
Thanks man!
Appreciate the video
Wow that's some solid advice!! Great videos , keep them coming👍🏻
Will do thanks for checking them out!
try reverse bleeding brakes if this doesnt work (150cc syringe method). Pushes the bubbles up with and out with gravity.
Awesome tips!!!
Thanks for watching James!!
I was panicking because there was no pressure in my front brakes but thanks to this video I got it fixed thank you very much
Jordan Joy did you do the zip tie thing? If so, what was your next step the next day?
Top video
Much thanks!
The ziptie trick works for me but the pressure only lasts like 30 minutes
Hey, did you find a solution?
Put the bottle on the ground and run a loop higher than the brake caliper and it will trap the air. You wont have to keep opening and closing the bleeder. Just pump the brake and keep topped off till line is air free.
My back brakes stick after driving for 3 mins do you know what that could mean
Does DOT 3 work? Plz someone lmk
I replaced my line caliper and master cylinder and I can’t build pressure
