Yet after they were “freed” the situation in Eastern Europe got worst and ended being run by oligarchs.
•Russia almost entered in civil war in ‘93, Russians are still stuck with Putin, Human Rights being violated against women and LGBT. Police brutality got worst.
      •Belarus still has a dictatorship.
•Ukraine keep getting screwed over and Crimea got annexed.
      •Georgia was invaded by Russia...again.
•Moldova has the worst economy of all Europe.
•Turkmenistan is literally North Korea, but doesn’t get talked about that much because it not a threat to west and doesn’t even do nothing in foreign relations.
•Kazakhstan, Armenia, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan just have terrible governments.
•Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have terrible human rights, both ranked one of the worst countries for political rights.
•Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia are the only good and decent countries.

The USA needs Ronald Reagan again and we could start again in 1980;the best in 65 years, people are still alive and it can be done again, I thought that Reagan sought Gorbachev for now and the past 20 years to end the underworld evil of communism and black in the U.S.. we must end the communistic, socialistic and barbaric regime influences in the U.S. with the grafting that was only in a few states, medicaid rises were not good for the U.S., neither was Barnake and Snow"s public financing for homes. The excessive buildup and waste of trillions did not work, it's a disaster to overcome in a few cities..on beyond HUD and welfare and trillions wasted..JOBS and minds together .usery and killing in healthcare with biased hatred is despicable life.

@ThePariss333 No, but people were forced to adopt to a totally different system way too fast and as we can see, those countries are still lagging behind.Because the West had decades and decades of that system before those countries didn't.What China did was far better at least economically speaking, and that's how it should have been done.Proper reforms and changes instead of a total collapse and starting all over again and then lagging behind others.

At that moment when those three men took to the stand together In Reagan's view, Gorbachev was a communist, and could be expected to act like a communist,” says H.W. Brands, author of Reagan: The Life and history professor at the University of Texas at Austin. “Gradually, Reagan realized Gorbachev was also a man, not that different from himself-a national leader who wanted the best for his people, and to avoid a nuclear war.”
In his book, Dear Mr. President … Reagan/Gorbachev and the Correspondences that Ended the Cold War, historian Jason Saltoun-Ebin writes that confidential letters between the two world leaders forced the men to “talk, debate, argue, disagree, but also offer proposals even when they thought no agreement would be possible.”
“Both Reagan and Gorbachev recognized that change was coming, and both wanted to be on the right side of history,” he writes. “But they needed to find a way to overcome forty years of Cold War ideology. They needed to find a way to trust each other.”

Same old lessons not learned, or people thinking they can do things better or that the past was silly and that we need to change things in the name of "progress." Global awareness, fractured communities. Infinite forum to express ideas, little ability to properly interpret and assess said ideas. Until more people decide to simultaneously say "this is what we're going to do" while at the same time be flexible enough to cooperate with other people saying the same thing, we will continue to see a downward spiral.

I guess Gorbachev was trying hard to bring some or more freedoms and equality of opportunities for own country’s citizens to enjoy by long time of iron fist of Stalin’s dictatorship system at the time. Often different leaderships may think differently or started change a bit, some or more by opportunities of political time at the time. Any iron fist of Communism ideologies systems obviously can’t be changed by overnight. It depends on different leadership for different trends. America is America 🇺🇸 and established recognitions and principles to preserve, protect and defend freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities to achieve greatness, strength and happiness altogether without hesitations or doubts, because this is America 🇺🇸 and America’s recognitions, principles and kindness. America 🇺🇸 besides recognitions and principles, also carries visions, wisdoms for strategies for maintaining peace efforts in the world by constant, effective and necessary communications to avoid nuclear weapons capabilities of the wars. Only effective and necessary communication capabilities will be able to avoid unnecessary or avoidable nuclear weapons capabilities of wars or the 3rd world wars. Peace will come from strength, I guess that may means the winning will come from the strength. Peace will also come from all necessary and effective communication abilities or capabilities, because as long as being able to convince without possible nuclear weapons capabilities of wars, or being able to stop such situations as initiating such wars, 50% is winning already. The most important thing is stand up strongly and firmly for America’s own established principles of freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities principles together to win Americans’ happiness together toward the efforts to achieve our country America’s greatness and strength and unity with alliances together. So effective and constant communications will lead to peace efforts, as well as the worst comes to the worst, at least will be under control without loosing strength at least. Both President Reagan and President Bush tried very hard to avoid getting into nuclear weapons capabilities of the wars. Can’t avoid different recognitions or different systems in the world, but being able to have confidence of our country America’s own established Constitution laws by learning to understand more quickly to preserve, protect and defend freedoms, entrepreneurship spirit and equality of opportunities principles and societies together to ensure Americans’ happiness quickly together, because Americans’ happiness will be able to build our country happily. Americans’ happiness will incubate America’s patriotism spirit for America’s safety, prosperity and unity altogether. This is why both Presidents always went to comfort our military service Americans, to ensure liberty 🗽, strength, greatness and Americans’ happiness, to communicate effectively and constantly, because this is America 🇺🇸.

At the May 1, 1986 parade in Moscow, Gorbachev did not say a single word about the Chernobyl tragedy. Why? And you say he's a great politician. I do not think so. He was a Soviet duplicator of dirty Leninist doctrine that never came true.
