This is my one and only favorite episode of AG. And this back-and-forth with Andy and Opie was hilarious 😂!

I love how Opie takes the worm into consideration.

I saw this episode 50 years ago when I was a kid and I still mention "poor Horatio the half kid" any time statistics are brought up.

I wish we still had shows like this on TV. This has got to be one of mine if not my favorite show of all time

Mine too! I’ll admit that after Barney left the show didn’t have its certain charm. I think going to color made it lose some of its magic also.

I think the Andy Griffith series missed an opportunity to populate itself with more interactions like this one with Andy trying to teach Opie life lessons. This exchange is just golden.

Opie was the absolute cutest here.

Opie had his funniest lines in the first season. Most of them in this episode!
Andy: Now that's fine! What'd you give him?
Opie: A sok in the head.
    Andy: I meant charity.
Opie: I didn't charge him nothin'

Is this really staged? It’s far too good to be acting!!! Love it.

Andy makes this same mistake at least a couple more times...the episode where Opie busts open his piggie bank to return money back to the rightful owner (Andy thought he was going on a wild shopping spree) and the episode where Opie gets himself fired (which Andy thought was just out of irresponsibility) from a grocery store job on purpose so the other kid gets the job as he needs it a lot more than Opie does. You'd think by that point Andy would learn to give the poor boy the benefit of the doubt.

To bad this clip cut out the part where Opie explains why he's buying the coat for the girl and it drives the final nail in.

They also cut out the part where Aunt Bee jumped on Andy’s case and gave him a few angles he hadn’t thought about. But Opie was too adorable in this episode. 🙂

I want to go back to those days. Life was so much better then. Wokeness didn't exist.

    • @Edwin48100

Wokeness is an ideology! It is evil! Just like transgenderism! There is no such thing as wokeness and transgender! Both are evil! It's called "Brainwashing"!

    • @jerrscott6373

We can, however, slow the wokeness down a bit by showing these TV episodes to an entire new generation.

Great clip but you didn’t show the best parts, such as Aunt Bea chastising Andy for being “ an Annabelle” and her realization about the coat. This clip was pointless without context and there’s no context to the coat scene at dinner table.
