A small correction: Trumpetist: "Then we go down to..." (hesitantly) AJ exclaims: "Aiss!" Trumpetist: "... E minor." She is well into the professional terminology at a very young age! Could be wrong, but I cannot find any false tone in any of the video material available. I have listened through all of it. Incredibly impressive!
@@onkel9156 Since they were already playing in a certain key, I think it's still possible that she was using what's known as "relative pitch" here (since she had a reference tone/key to use as the basis for dropping down to the desired tone/key), as opposed to "absolute pitch". As you say, absolute pitch generally cannot be taught, but reportedly it can be "induced" very early in life if someone listens to a lot of complex music as a baby and receives intense pitch-identification training as they grow up (search for "perfect pitch" at Rick Beato's channel). Although Angelina did hear a lot of music at a very young age and started singing at 1½, I don't believe that would have been enough to "give her" absolute pitch if she didn't already possess it. My belief that she did not, in fact, possess absolute pitch as a young child is based mainly on the handful of videos of her singing at around 6 and 7 where she's a bit "pitchy" (occasionally off-key, especially in the louder parts). See videos 5-8 in this playlist, for example: ruclips.net/p/PLySL7rbiavQdojPuSU1yZDRvj752g9J1b and also this video from a very early appearance on stage: ruclips.net/video/NWCt47pCd20/видео.html Now, whether what we hear in these videos is merely a lack of _vocal control_ rather than a lack of ability to identify pitch _per se_ is debatable. But I think it demonstrates that her pitch abilities were still developing at that point in her life, and so is evidence that she has "only" relative pitch, not absolute pitch. Perhaps more importantly, though, when she sings a cappella it's not in the same key as the original. Her performane of "I'm a Fool to Want You" on _Norske Talenter_ was sung at least a semitone (if not a full tone) higher than Billie Holiday's original recording, and even when Angelina sang a little "Diamonds Are Forever" in this interview ruclips.net/video/97hjWg4ToRQ/видео.html when she was 12, she sang it much lower than she was singing it live just the previous year. ruclips.net/video/xRfFcnD3KSo/видео.html If she had absolute pitch, presumably there would not be these pitch differences. Of course, the whole issue could be resolved simply by someone asking her about it in an interview! @@DonaldLancon Thanks for the explanation. I always thought that Angelina Jordan has the absolute pitch. Seeing as Sara her mother was a teacher of Japanese in Oslo, and Sara's father was Japanese, you might expect Angelina has at least some basic knowledge of the language. She certainly sang one song in Japanese at a concert in Tokyo. However, when she went for a radio interview in Tokyo, neither she, nor Sara, nor Sara's brother Michael, who both spent some years living in Japan, spoke any Japanese at all to the staff or presenters. Then, to my knowledge there are no recordings on YT of any of them speaking Farsi, not even grandma Mery, who is native Iranian, yet 6 year old Angelina was able to speak at length with the shoeless girl in a (presumably) Iranian street market, although her diary entries of that meeting seemed to be written in Norwegian as she read an extract on TV. As for other languages Angelina has been credited with speaking, it can be reasonably assumed she can speak some Swedish as her father and his extended family are Swedish ... beyond that, apart from a few words in French, German and Korean, there's no evidence she is fluent in more than 3 languages: English, Norwegian and (possibly) Swedish, just like there's no evidence of her ability to play flute, violin or anything other than basic piano and guitar, but some Angels still insist she is multi-lingual and a multi-instrumentalist. The most controversial claim of all is that she creates her own arrangements as well as the scores for her self-penned lyrics. I haven't seen every AJ video although I believe I have viewed most of the ones on YT ... and I've never seen her writing musical notation or even reading a score when she's playing piano, so if she composes or arranges it's either in her head and she has to verbalise it, as in this video, or she writes down her own shorthand notes to discuss with the musicians but again, we haven't seen any examples of that captured on camera. R (Australia)
@@robertsolar8814 Yeah. In other performances of this she pronounces the "o" a little closer to a "u" than here, but she never sings it with any "r" sound (AFAIK). Perhaps ZEUS O. is thinking in terms of the "British pronunciation" [RP] of the word "curtain" instead of the more relevant American one?

Please watch that performance and let us know what you think. Or if you had already watched it, please re-watch it again and I'm very interested in what you have to say. Thanks !
@@chadwickyang7885 She did have an ear piece on and the pitch could have been provided via that...
SHE HAS DIVINE ENERGY SQUIRTING OUT OF HER IN BUCKET-LOADS, IT'S ALMOST A SPIRITUAL ENCOUNTER TO HEAR HER SING !!!
A Natural.
A sharp, actually. [wink!]
She's genius. No doubt about that.
if you look at this we all know who the boss is :)""
I think her musicians fully understand that they may be proficient at what they do, but they are there to augment her musical genius and extremely unusual giftings. I think they feel blessed to help her.
beautiful
She is the boss
OMG....
That combination of a tiny child playing and being totally in charge of how the music should sound...
How do you hide a band in head that small?
👍😊❤️
To be only 8 years old, she sounds like a full grown professional.
She IS a pro already here..... :-)
My diva 🧡
She is rearranging the song
que maravilla de niña si puede canta rsin instrumentos como dijeron ella es la musica
She directed how the trumpet sound should be.... Little big boss ...
A m a z i n g .
Definitely a good mimic.
8 years old, and instructing grown up experience musicians! WHAAAAT???? What is she made of?? And look in the beginning before she start to singing she is a totally normal child, boring her self. And suddenly she changes like a snap.... WHAAAAT????
^^
Good...Mantap..👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 💕💕💕💕💕
She is in total control in that room.
Она такая маленькая,а уже участвует в разборе песни...
ANGELINA, SOS LO MAS!!! 8 AÑITOS ... IMPRESIONANTE!
luar biasa..

Could someone please translate the short conversation to English please as it will give more context on what the young AJ is trying to achieve and her mature musical comprehension
You can see that on johnnybgbg comment (the one that have 18 replies and you have to see that interesting replies too) 😁
@@tatodobien2 🥰 thank you for directing me there. I have just discovered AJ in 2021 and have been binge watching all AJ related material. I am appreciating this musical virtuoso more and more.
Would love to see Andrea Motis doing a duet with Angelina - Jazz Heaven that would be.
I have been watching Andrea for several years now, he is a brilliant jazz musician! Maybe not such a great singer, but a great trembacz and musician. I would also like to see them together on stage one day. best regards
@@KRISTOFOROS333 Andrea = She , trembacz = Trumpet (chet baker, she has been likened to) . Andrea's singing is simple and elegant, at times vulnerable, and when it comes to a love song she is the most believable of all. ATB to you.
I did suggest a summer residency with the SAJB might re-ignite Angelina's enthusiasm for jazz beyond Billie Holiday and Etta James ... I'm heading to Barcelona next month, to drink at the source! ... 🙂 R (Australia)
What is this little lovely girl doing between all those grown up musicians
Advising them ........oh, and singing too!
@bimal kumar , lol! Yes, exactly! :D
Does anyone know what the third language is that Angelina speak- other than Norwegian and English?
It's Persian (farsi), native language of her grandmother on her mother side.
And Japanese as well
@@DibraGimang Are you sure she is FLUENT n Japanese?
@@DibraGimang reportedly learning Japanese
All the the adults have to do is be quit talking and listen to her instructions she will get it right.
God is great. That’s the only explanation …
Really Angelina does not need for long rehearsal because her ears are exceptional, maybe only Enrico Caruso got the same ones!
By the way, it's "cotton is high"; not curtain.
Uh. I listened three times and for me she clearly says the word cotton and certainly not curtain.
Would that be Angelina !!! You know it.....
She is not the one singing, it's the song using her to come out!
Uallll...
What is that little cute girl doing there between all those musicians
Rehearsing before the NGT finale?
Giving them musical education... 😁
Seriously!?
Yeah just sit at the board table and knock off a classic. No problem.
Amazing how they don't give any attention to her. They talk to each other ignoring her as if she is not even there.
couldn't get a dumber guitar ?
So funny. She’s twice of her age.
