    1. Fat Chicken was not Mighty Rabbit's first game.
    2. Made it clearer that Brian Provinciano self published Retro City Rampage DX. As a result, Coury had to reshoot all of his on camera bits.
    3. Made it clearer that Douglas was with the company before Saturday Morning RPG
    4. Fixed release date on Oddworld.
    5. Added soundbites from Douglas about why they haven't done any releases from Microsoft or Nintendo.

People trying to cancel orders because it looks like a game might sell out really pisses me off. I wonder how many of these limited run games get in the hands of collectors and how many end up in some stinky re sellers mitts.
Maybe an answer to the problem would be to take pre orders on past games but don't print them unless the minimum order amount is reached then you can print them and ship them out with the stock already paid for. That would keep highly wanted games in the hands of gamers and you wouldn't loose money on having games lying around not selling.
There are a couple games that i want but will never own because i have a strict policy of not buying a game over it's retail price on games released within the last 10 years or so.

Resellers are a non-issue for Limited Run games. There's no cap on how many games they produced. So If resellers order 5000 games to resell, Limited Run orders 5000 more games...

I can appreciate what they are doing but it kinda sucks it has to work this way. We live in a re-sellers paradise and the only way for people to care about most indie games is to make them "rare". I personally hope all of these games get re-releases in the future so more people can play them and stick it to the people who are buying them as some sort of investment. Glad Soldner and Retro City Rampage are doing just that :)

"Limted Run is doing what they can so costumers can buy the product". Because in Europe being up to 4 am in the morning is just normal and people don't work at all 12 pm. This "documentary". This "documentary" focus to little on the negative sides and let the company brush it off. The company started with a noble way to earn some money without knowing if it would sell. To know being made in so few runs the plan is to be sold out within 24 hours. Limted Run could I would assume pretty easily make preorders within a week or two.and make copies based on those rather than so limited quantities so very few people will get the hands on them. The business model more seems like to let people order the games fast without letting people think about whatever they want or need the game rather than it is to make the copy available in physical form. Saying developers can easily make a deal with somebody else contradicts the point of wanting to make games available in physical form. If the point is to make the games available in physical form then why should another company do this? Shouldn't Limited Run trying to make as many people get the product. The problem in the first place is it hasn't been released physical so the changes for the game to be released in physical form by another publisher is very unlikely. Limited Run wants to make their games an exclusivity not something available for the public interested in the games. In the process being able to charge a higer price. If the games was released with 5.000-10.000 WW copies it would still be a limited run compared to games released in stores and other online stores.

@@robertbarker5802 there's a lot of problems with physical AND digital though cause physical media can corrode, get scratched, stop working from age, can be very hard to track down as most games of a certain age are no longer sold and sometimes the only way to get them is scam artist on ebay inflating prices yes a dev can stop selling a digital game but most likely someone has it downloaded somewhere like i still have scott pilgrim on my ps3 and even if i didn't i could emulate it you could even make your own physical copies of digital games like the modded version of mother 3 that translates it to english is pretty widely made in physical versions second hand the problem isn't really physical or digital games it's developers and publishers that are the problem and in general copyright law that makes it impossible for other people to distribute something when the dev either can't or won't

i dont understand why they cant do 5,000 perhaps 10,000 soon enough.
It may not sell out within 24hours but give people a damn chance, i only recently found out how to obtain limited run games and shit and didnt really think much of it while they were releasing, and now i want to scoop up what i can when they do. But you CANT because it sells out so quickly with so few copies.
2-3,000? are you kidding me? the demand is there, i gurantee if they start selling on amazon or wherever it will be in much larger quantities. If they need to slap ESRB on it, go ahead and look into that, but becoming an amazon or ebay seller will gurantee more sold too. Id feel more comfortable buying there too but ill go to the site if i must.
And also where is the advertising? only collectors know because theyre hardcore gamers, absolutely noone else does. Thats just stupid, they need to advertise wayyy more. Up the stock available and grow as a company.
If they must, then why not get pre-orders down, even with money down to secure copies and know exactly how many are needed. If need be LOCK people down to their pre-order, whether or not they pay in full. As long as there is a date of release and it IS coming out then there is no issue, if it is not, THEN refund everyone.

    • @orangezombies

DjStiv3 They can do that many copies. They specifically said it up to the game creator after the Limited Run launch but can be dependent on how much it sold digital already.
Soldner X2 is now also being reprinted and sold through Play-Asia right now! www.play-asia.com/sldner-x-2-final-prototype-play-asiacom-exclusive-multi-langua/13/70am7p?ref=froogle_us&gclid=Cj0KCQjwh_bLBRDeARIsAH4ZYEOZOARnnrQ7VuwOTqsOOB_tKGb2cEcGM3iHTjC1yJGgKpBQ3vOSK3oaAqM2EALw_wcB
It's all a balancing act. If a game would have already sold 10k-50k because of popularity digital it would have probably picked up by a publisher before talking to Limited Run.
Another point is Mighty Rabbit/ Limited Run can't make 3k-5k more than expected selling and go bankrupt themselves.
Also not everyone needs every single Limited Run game. Just buy what games you want to play or love digital and want that sealed copy. I personally have only bought 5 games so far from them.

Limited run games changed things since the release of YS origins! Limited run now has the option to preorder the games which will have high demand, it lasts for 24 hours! I got my first limited run game( YS origins) salt and sanctuary will have a release, which will be a high demand game and we will be able to pre-order! So happy about this!

    Good news, guys!
Today (October 25, 2017), Limited Run announced that they're going to start publishing on Switch. Their first release is next year, and who knows what the first release will be (there's plenty of excellent digital games on the eShop that deserve some physical love). Personally, I want them to re-release some of their previous Limited Runs on Switch. I'd love to play Breach and Clear on the Switch, as well as other games.
But anyway, I thought people should know about that, and it certainly is exciting.

I tried to buy Wonder Boy for the PS4 recently and it sold out in a minute at 10am. There was no notification that it would be available at 6pm (like I have seen before) so I took it for granted that that was it. Anyway, it would be nice if they would gauge the sell-out process and consider a re-release at a near-future date. But that's not their mantra, it just sucks for those of us that tried to buy one and only got an out-of-stock within a minute.

Sorry to these guys, but I know what they're trying to do, but...
Screw them, why limit these physical copies of games into mere couple thousands, why not do some sort of system where they do it by a Order-By-Demand thing (please anyone fix that if I messed up), I would do it like this:
Step 1) Do a First Print Special Edition first, then use a quarter of the profits of that to make the later prints.
Step 2) Do a Standard Physical Version afterwards.
    Step 3) You're a bigger success!
Even though it would defeat their purpose of the company's name "Limited Run Games", they could do a separate group that does this, split the profits into half of both subsidiaries so that everyone's happy, don't give me that excuse, because this might be the perfect solution to fix the indie game physical copy problem, not limiting them, keep making prints until the recent one didn't reach the demand goal.

The sales number would probably at the moment never be much higher than 10.000-50.000 WW. This is still a limited game compared to most games released. Limited run sells an exclusivity they don't preserve games for gamers (at least not the demand there is for it). If that is the business model they wanna go with by al means do. However don't try and sucker coat and make a PR message about it is a service to gamers. However until their business model change I most likely won't support the company. Also I usually happen to sleep 4 AM CET and work at 12 PM CET.

Over the years the preorder window has changed to allow more people to preorder a game. What still has not changed is the possibility of another run of a game by somebody else, what has been mentioned in the video. .. no, that is not obvious by the website!
Why should you be angry about more copies? Just remember the star wars games. These games became available in stores not only before all preorders had shipped. In stores it was much cheaper too: two games for less money LRG was charging for one.

Amazing work guys! i want to see more off this kind of videos. It's a shame though i can't get a copy of their games anymore and they are so expensive from scalpers, i think they should limit their purchases to 1 per platform at least and figure out another way make more available.

    Limited Run Games!
I strongly advice with such high demand on your games from 1,500 - 2,500 - 3,000 copies per game and you make low copies and always sold out why not make more games double the number that you produce from 3,000 make it 6 - 7,000 copies!
Do not be scared that it will not be sold by making too many copies.
Make a survey on every country via internet and survey in your area which areas your games are popular. There areas that popular game is not popular there so better make a survey.
Make more copies. I think your games didn't even reached Philippines! Selling more will make you more rich until you could make until a million copies making your game one of the best selling and best games in the console it was released.
As time passes by think about my advice and do it little by little.
KUDOS for you game developers. Your work is my DREAM WORK!

Id always go with physical but what I dont like about LGR is that they take a game that is $5 on a store and then sell it for $30 in a box. At least make a physical release of a game that costs almost as much instead of having to pay 6 times more than the digital just to get it in a box. For example Gris for the switch...its a $20 game but instead they chose Escapist which is like $3 digitally.

    • @WickedlNl
      @WickedlNl 5 лет назад +1

@@txmqalfpdiq That is all true but my point still is that it wont cost them more for porting a more expensive game to a physical release. For example you have new games that are $50 digital and $50 physical. So its not about being cheaper digitally, its about why not port games that are more wanted and in similar price range instead of going for the bargain bin. Price wise it doesnt change for them wether that game is $3 or $25, they will still put the same amount of money for the box and artwork.

@@mylifeingaming I got referred here after watching mrixrt vid on the practices of LRG and while I dont want to recap an hour long video in the comments, my main issue with them is the whole Trusted partners thing being used as a scheme for scalping the releases. I'm not so much into physical games myself besides retro, but I would hate to have to pay a scalper on Ebay double or more for a release just because they got a 'Trusted Partner' copy and then just flipped it on Ebay. After dealing with limited run I can safely say the name fits the need I had for them their policies are horrible and a lot of people got screwed on the Night trap sale. I would've rather of seeing this be a digital version only at least scalpers would not inflating the price ridiculously to now pick one up also it would've been fair across-the-board. They were really about the people and the collectors they would offer a re-issue or to the people that were in the line on the shopping cart for check out they would offer them a direct link tell them they would have to wait until the game was manufactured and then ship it out once it was paid for prior to no money lost everybody's happy to get a copy this is a very big disappointment and to be honest after this I would say I would never use their services again
