    George!!! Awesome video!! Honestly, this is a great video!! I love how you explore the major issues of recent superhero films from the DCEU and MCU. I definitely feel for films such as Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman. Those films have big and exciting ideas but they are executed very awkwardly. I even loved your pinpoint about Cavill’s Superman. Cavill’s portrayal is truly great but the writing for his Superman is a bit odd. Yes I can see why Superman is criticized but as you said he still vandalizes properties and only saves others when he wants to. Superhero movies have been a mixed bag in the 2010s but films like No Way Home and The Batman really resurrect the wonders of superhero movies. Great video and welcome back!! 🎥🎬

      Thank you so much Mac, I'm always happy to see you about on the channel!
      Yep I obviously agree completely. It's a shame as well because I think Henry Cavill is one of the best actors to play a Superman role. Unfortunately his character was too poorly and inconsistently written.
      Yeah Superhero media is always going to be quite diverse in terms of quality, but when we get those rare gems, it reminds us of just how goof the genre can be.
      Thanks again man!

    I'm a massive sucker for these kinds of stories. I'm not a big action guy, so giving action scenes this kind of context, making you think about the damage being done is a great way to spice it up and make it more interesting. Not to mention the great personal stories that can be told from it, like you mentioned with Tony Stark. I hope the idea of accountability sticks with super hero films going forward, after the massive success of the MCU films.

    • @That0therGeorge
      @That0therGeorge  2 года назад +1

      I (obviously) absolutely agree!
      I think that's why I'm so much more of a fan of something like "Daredevil" - It's so grounded and vast majority of the action scenes lead to much greater consequences/purposes for the story.
      But unfortunately, with that, it's also why something like "Captain America: Civil War" isn't anywhere near as critically acclaimed by audience members and fans alike, despite it arguably being the one of the best films in the MCU. I'm just not sure if a causal viewer is as engaged with this kinds of stories.
      Thank you very much for watching by the way!

    Man Of Steel was such a disaster. I can't believe that WB was okay with all that destruction.

    • @That0therGeorge

      Agreed my dude! As said in the video, BvS is nothing but a response to the criticism, it was never something they were intending to address.

    Actually Superman doesn't take Zod to space. Zod is the one who takes Superman to space despite the fact that Zod is literally trying to genocide humanity and Clark is the one trying to save Humanity.

    DC Animation explored the subject of superhero accountability quite well. The whole Cadmus arc in Justice League is about what happens when the world starts losing trust in superheroes and how even when they're well intentioned, superheroes hold so much power that they can create fear and mistrust when they're not transparent about their actions. There's also the animated movie Gods and Monsters, which starts with a darker and edgier Justice League that see themselves as above others and wield power irresponsibly, but it turns that story on its head by having the heroes learn that cynicism is not the right way and that they need to use their power responsibly and work to create a better, more trusting world.

    I dont know why they did Cavill's Superman like that. Snyder was a mistake.

    • @That0therGeorge
      @That0therGeorge  2 года назад +2

      Cavill was the PERFECT choice for the character and it's a shame how poorly written it was.
      I do want to give Snyder some benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately none of his films have done it for me.
