I like how you had to pan the camera to show all the extensions. Good project. 👍

Was pretty much every extension I had!

In the old days we used to make a 7-footer to go into the backseat of a car and then both trunk lid without destroying it

I did the same on my avalanche I used a regular jack with an old brake rotor adapted to it lol the only struggle was the angle to bolt the trans to engine so i stuck a couple screw drivers on the top bolt holes and slowly lowered the jack and the transmission angled down perfectly.

That’s awesome. Whatever it takes right?

Top 2 bolts on Trailblazer 4.2L engine, be SURE that the bracket fits above the bolts, and not between engine and transmission. If you push the bracket up, then align the trans, the bracket will POP down, to rear of transmission, where it is supposed to live.
If the bracket gets between engine and transmission, you will never bolt the two together properly.
And, Again, be sure the torque convert is fully into the transmission oil pump, fully rearward, before bolting the trans to engine, else you will crunch, destroy, the trans oil pump rotor.
Removal of exhaust not required on 4.2L Trailblazer with 4L60E, only the support bracket removal is required. If the prong on support bracket is too long to move out, saw about 1/2" off of it with recip saw.

I couldn't get it out without taking the exhaust out, and that wasn't really that hard anyway.

Okay my friend get yourself a couple of cheap half-fish inch extensions and a length of half inch rebar cut the rebar to a long LinkedIn make it easy for you to reach your transmission bolts cut the extension in half and welded onto both ends of that length strong devacut make most of the joint weld then you'll have extensions for transmission work

That's a great old school hack! I'll keep that in mind!

You can get a transmission jack adaptor 🎉

I know, but that would have been logical...and what's the fun in that? Besides, I could get the trans jack that day from harbor freight and the adapter I had to wait a few days and this was the day I could work on it.

4l60E very easy to rebuild. You should have rebuilt, rather than put a possible dud from junkyard. Plenty of utube videos on how to rebuild, man....

Everyone says what's easy and not easy. For me, this was easier. And faster and we had a time crunch and limited budget. It was worth the $130 to give it a try and it worked great! If it hadn't, I'd have tried to rebuild it.

@@rhynosgarage does the transmission still work good mine went out the other day with 338k miles on it I'm saving for a remanafactured for $2700 with 5 year warranty but a used one would be a lot cheaper

How’d you get the transmission under the truck on the transmission jack?

    • @rhynosgarage
      @rhynosgarage  3 месяца назад

The truck was up on jack stands, but I still had to tip the tail up a bit to angle the bell housing under it.
