Karl Richter is one my favourite organist and conductor of Bach's music. He and his Teachers Ramin and Straube are a legends. Do you have some recordings of Max Reger's organ works played by Karl Richter ? Richter was also a great Reger specialist. Thank you for this treasure !
Karl Richter uses the vibrato in this recording to give the essence of the human voice singing the melody, which arguably makes this piece more emotional. Most organists do not use the tremulant for BWV 622, but I believe the vibrato is a much better alternative than a two-dimensional melody that a voice without the tremulant would provide.
I love the vibrato...it makes the music breathe and lends extra weight to the cadences. And I usually don't like too much vibrato. It's a transcendent performance.
It's important to realize that vibrato on itself doesn't mean much. Here the frequency of the vibrato could be a bit faster to replicate the human vibrato more. Overall I do like the choice, even if the execution is not perfect.
His organ is beautiful no matter how many times you listen to it.

Richter is the best!! This is a BWV622 version I’ll never forget

better without that awful vibrato which spoils it
So you are a better organist and Bach's performer than legendary Karl Richter?

I understand your point of view, but Richter was one of the deepest Bach interpreters so I can’t criticize this choice.
