Thanks for your video. It helped me choose the 80:20 for the brightness . Just ordered an 8 pack from strings and beyond.
Glad it was helpful. Yes the brightness does cut through.
Wow, big difference! Thanks for putting the time into making this. My Taylor guitar came with PB, but I just ordered some 80/20 to try out for fun.
Good idea. The only way to really tell is to try. You're right, there is quite a difference.
Subbed. You went straight to the point and did exactly what I needed - a true comparison between the strings. I salute you, good sir!
Saluting back for subbing. Thanks!
Excellent demo on the sound difference the two string types bring. I'm personally way more in the 80/20 camp. The phosphor bronze sounded muddy to me and I would want to change the strings to improve the sound (but another set of new phosphor bronze would still sound that way). I like a bright crisp sound, though, and Dust In the Wind really brought out the difference in a big way. Thanks for a great video!!!
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching.
Thanks for your time reviewing this
Thanks for watching!
Thank you. Got back into guitar after a few years and bought 80/20 extra lights because I thought they would be easy to play and I am not into the sound. Back to Daddario PB lights. Thanks
Right, you've got to find what works for you and the guitar. Thanks for the comment.
Nice review!
Thank you!
I like the reduced mids of the 80/20s
I honestly liked both, in my humble opinion, its which suits the style of song, 80/20s appear a tad louder to me, obviously cos they're bright, difficult, but my styles more country upbeat, so 80/20s mmmm just 😊
Thanks for the info. More power :)
I can use more power...thanks!
Phospher sounds so much nicer to my ear
Thanks - the outtro - that's a great sound! Was that related to this guitar / string set? AFA this compare - the phosphors favor the guitar I think - not by a whole lot. 9 vs 8/10' or something like that spread. The outtro - 10/10
I thought the Phosphor Bronze would be the best before I started, which is why I left them for last. The thing is, I was surprised at how much the 80/20's could be used to cut through a mix if I had other instruments. Playing wise, the phosphors seem to give a little more feedback to the player. But are you referring to the outro outro - my channel theme? That was actually my nylon string Yamaha.
@@GuitarBasement I don't ensemble much - and for a mix you get to play with whatever frequencies you want. Just ordered the 12-56 Elixers for that. Yeah the outro sounds seriously great. Do a compare!
thanks
You're welcome!
I really liked the phosphor bronze, they sounded fat and full despite the fact that I love a bright sound
Right. With my guitar being a mahogany body it's already quite bright, so I think the phosphor bronze adds a little depth.
would have been helpful to say what gauge strings you were using .. had to go back and stop it to see
What is the first song?
Dust In The Wind by Kansas
Whats the first riff
It the intro to Dust in the Wind by Kansas
80/20
I am allergic to nickel, so I want to find some nickelfree strings
That's too bad. I didn't know that was a thing. A quick search gave me this link that you may find interesting. I have no affiliation. www.stringsdirect.co.uk/blogs/blog/working-around-a-nickel-allergy
thats the saddest thing ive ever heard
do you have a very strong reaction? this is not medical advice in ANY way, but strings like elixirs have a thick coating, if you could experiment with those maybe you will have luck. of corse, only if this does not represent any risk. but i would imagine that changing strings before the coating is damaged would work ok.
8020 all day PB sounds dull
