This is my save, and yes, it is my first warhammer2 campaign. My friend told me about some skaven mechanics, and some I learned from Legend here in youtube. I have played many hundred hours of Shogun2 and Rome2 so totalwar games are familiar to me, just not warhammer with its magic and other abilities.
You did well for your first campaign
If you come from other TW games you'll most likely undervalueate the strenght of heroes and lords. They are the strongest entities in WH, and especially essential for Skaven, but yeah, we definitely seen worse here :D

He is a legendary leader with unique skills, and he hates grey seers (for some reasons) - and one that regular grey seers comes in and says "Get the fuck-fuck outta here, you can't handle this. Me-me will do better." And then he does better.
Queek doesnt trust magic or the grey seers and will hunt them down canonically and rat on rat crime them
Too bad he’s basically skaven Grimgor. No mount no magic only good at 2 things, fighting melee infantry and duels. Meanwhile a grey seer can inflict massive DPS and has 7 summons in their pocket.
"Our ammunition is more important than our lives" is a very Skaven observation, love it!
This is the rat equivalent of call an ambulance but not for me-me!
People who think legend only knows cheese need to see him take these fights. Calm fast decision making, great unit control, restraint and foresight. Whatever happens on the campaign map doesn’t change the fact that legend can slap on the field.
No matter how many times you use or see it, skaven weapon team stacks are always entertaining

If you select any unit in your army with a freshly summoned unit and then give them an attack command, you can make the freshly summoned unit attack immediately even as they are still in their deployment animation

I always assumed it was to make the videos more watchable. Like, when Bob Ross was painting he probably didn't need to think out loud while putting down happy little trees, but the commentary makes it a lot more interesting for the viewing audience.

Appear weak when you are strong and appear strong when you are weak. I guess the latter is not that good in this particular game.
You can build an auto-resolve stack. For example a shit stack of dread spears in a black arc when you're leveling it up.
@@karlnord1429 that's true but generally you don't want an autoresolve army. One time you might end up against someone you can't autoresolve and than you lost your army but as you said to level up your lord it's a good idea.
Yeah AI in this game always acts like their lives are worth jackshit, even if you’re much stronger they’re more likely to take their shot than to retreat lol
I didn't even realize how to use rattling guns on my first skaven campaign. At least this army has common sense
The worst part about learning from day 1 that walls are the best building in the game is your sheer terror when you discover Norsca as a faction
That Council Guard got like 14k damage, despite the low kill count. That's 1.5x it's own HP despite being shot to shit by allied fire.

Oh man you're the same as me, my first ever WH2 campaign is a Vortex Clan Pestilens, and boy does Gor-Rok (Itza) hates me, the moment i leave the "Guakmol Crater" for like 1 turn to take care of a raiding beastmen that Lizard is already marching in to take it smh.....
Very good for a first campaign. Skaven can be a little tricky to begin with, but really powerful once you learn them. Don't be scared of your own corruption, your Great Bell or whatever it's called keeps the rats in order
Check all the undercities
Where should you establish your first undercity? Im trying Ikkit Claw and not sure what is the best place for a starter city.
Depends. You should set it up far from where you intend to build your empire. Use the rite that summons a lab rat and send him off to Altdorf or Couronne or something. Or Khemri. Depending which direction you want to expand in. You can also set up an Undercity in a city you've captured, rather than occupying etc. Do that in a city you would be comfortable just sacking for several turns. Possibly even Tobaro, the first Estalian city.
Whatever you decide, always build the mining building that gives a small chance of new Undercities being built. Soon you'll have more than you know what to do with and it won't matter if a few get found and destroyed
If Dramar Hammerfist had performed block Army before the Battle I think the Dwarves would have won. But he didn't and the Dwarves got Donald Ducked.

Cast the summon, then highlight your lord/hero that’s summoning with the summon unit highlighted as well. Attack the enemy you want before the unit spawns, and it will go directly for it when it does.
That will allow you to avoid the delay.
I think it works with any other unit in your army highlighted as long as the summon is too. Just remember to move whoever is highlighted out of the attack order after.

I really hope WH3 has a grey seer legendary lord because all their lore really interests me and there has to be at least one interesting grey seer in the Skaven under empire
I like the idea of 3 armies or 3 and a bit armies vs 1 army + garrison or single lord. I think the winnable ones should be very entertaining so Legend should give them a shot instead of removing the deadweight if it's possible. Or course in _this_ case it's clearly not possible since there isn't enough ammo and it's not one of those "out of ammo, I still got magic and can still win" situations. But I think the winnable ones would be more fun to watch.

I love Queek and his book Headtaker is by far one of my favorite Warhammer novels. That being said I suck major ass as him in this game but want to dominate with him so badly lol
Sadly he does struggle compared to spellcasters. But he does kill other lords easily by himself, and can fight infantry. Like many others have said, play another clan then confederate Queek.

Yeah, Queek is not very good in leading Weapon Teams. IMO even Tretch is better due to Vanguard Deployment for the entire army, high MD, bonuses when losing melee fight (he'll be losing a lot!) and regen
Yes-yes I remember Tretch is good with artillery, though Queek could duel Ungrim and other LL on foot, very plausible at that level, therefore saving some ammo.
A "Rate my campain" would be nice, shorter content but as always full of insight.

I don't think weapons teams are bad against slayers. I remember in one battle I had to face down their lord, 3 Longbeards, 3 artillery pieces, 3 irondrakes, and 13 slayers. I had my melee lord, 3 heroes, 3 Clanrats, 1 Warpfire thrower, 3 Poisoned Wind Mortars, 3 Plagueclaw Catapults, and 3 Rattling guns. I routed their longbeards, wiped out 3 slayer units and killed 7/8 of the total number of slayers before they reached my clanrat lines, so killing 7/8 of them with just magic and 10 weapons teams is pretty good.
Now I figured the clanrats would allow my warpfire throwers to get some great shots and they would if they fought to the death, but the warpfire throwers only got 3 volleys during the melee before the cowards ran away and the slayers started heading towards my rattling guns. The slayers fought every unit except the warpfire throwers and everyone ran away and the army losses caused the warpfire throwers to run too. The army retreated behind a settlement and then I had to win 3 full armies (the slayer army didn't follow) with the garrison and the crippled army. But I think considering I had 10 weapons teams and there were 13 slayers, getting rid of 7/8 before they even touched the clanrats was pretty good (they lost more than 7/8 at the end of the battle since the clanrats and weapons teams did -some_ melee damage and I was able to cast some spells).
Or maybe this was proving Legend's point? To be honest, I don't think I would have wiped out ALL slayers if I had 3 more rattling guns. I personally think I did well given the situation, but I did lose the battle after all. Sure there was probably more balance of power in the 7/8 of their slayers that I did kill than my weapons team units, if only because there were more slayers than my weapons team units. I don't have the video of the battle so maybe I made mistakes, but if you did see someone with that sub-optimal unit composition have that result in a battle and thought that in the battle itself they did everything right in the battle, would that be a point in favor or against Legend's comment that weapons teams don't fare well against Slayers?
Well, it proves Legend's point.
The reason why weapon teams are bad against slayers is not because you can't kill them, it's because you can't inflict army loses penalty. In your scenario if it was any other dwarf unit, you would probably win this easily.

Does Menace from Below unbug reinforcing artillery? That's the first time in awhile I've seen artillery not stay near the edge of the map if reinforcing.
Idk, arty tends to very slowly advance from the edge in my battles. It just moves at a snail's pace
@@EagleScoutmano I find that interesting, I've watched multiple streams of factions and armies with a reinforcing artillery piece just not move while the rest of the army comes up.

man's 1st campaign, playing Skaven of all races, and managed to get it saved by Legend who is the god of cheesing with Skaven. He's gonna enjoy his next Skaven campaign thanks to this.

If he started with Easy campaign difficulty (perhaps later ramping it up as he felt more confident), then it's quite believable he persisted through the need to occasionally re-configure some cities and rehire some suboptimal armies to get to where he is now by turn 197.
Plus, he's likely to be a regular on Legend's channel, so he should know at least a couple cheesy tricks.
My first campaign was Ikit claw also, im played shogun2 with main guns and canons so not so hard to figure out how to play skaven
I remember my very first campaign was with clan Mors as well and boy oh boy... I didnt even understand what heroes are for, not to mention that you could put them in your armies. I didnt rly understand the corruption mechanic, I was getting angry at my melee units for sucking hard, always red on food and just not understanding the game in general. Then I took to youtube and now I'm doing just fine on VH/VH with most factions. But what I meant to say is that for a first campaign, this is freaking amazing. But it does seem weird to me that you'd play ME before Vortex. Maybe that's different for people who started off with game 1, I bought WH2 and then I went on to buy all the DLC and game 1. I'm stoked for game 3, needless to say. 39 days left guys.
Yeah, legendary Lords are really overvalued in autoresolve in relation to their capabilities...
Chaos INvasion in my current campaign: L22 Malekith vs Supreme Sorc L30 - Shadowdart and a Shade army....
Autoresolve gives Malekith a clean Decisive victory, recovering losses with captures.
The Sorc gets pyrrhic victory....(and loses exactly 28 in manual) so good riddance Queek :D
Legend, I know you don't typically read these comments and it's off-topic, but: I was watching some old Doomstack videos, and I'm confused why you were adverse of using wizards in armies? Like, it's part of the army innit? How would the weapons team stack perform if you didn't use the Plague Priests and Packmasters to summon fodder?
Sorry It's off-topic, but I was just wondering what the reason for that was, or if I'm just dumb and missing something.
he just doesnt use wizard to deal damage when rating doomstack especially fire wizard because they are very strong and it doesnt show how the doomstack perform normally without a damage dealer wizard. well if he use treeman or dragon doomstack with life wizard he will use healing from wizard since it is a part of the doomstack's power
Legend can win an entire battle with a wizard so to showcase the units he needs the wizard out of the army
For Skaven you really want a wizard to summon fodder in battle to 'tar pit' the enemy advance
Been watching him for a while and he loves wizards, especially plague priests
Yeah but 'Rating your doomstack' wasn't "Rating a single unit spam' for the most part was it? Watching the dragon prince stack, an army virtually immune to fire damage and heavily armored, and he refused to use the very obviously synergistic fire wizard when he had an opportunity to just wipe out 80% of the enemy forces in a single spell.
That just seems dumb.
@@JagEterCoola Its not about win or lose, its about the doomstack. Firewizzards can solo many types of armies. Its pointles to value them, if you want to rate a doomstack. And doomstacks are always spams of single units.

I got the item quest for Kemmler to recruit two units of sternsmen but I can't find these guys anywhere in any recruitment pool. Are they tied to VC DLC?
The Sternsmen are the Graveguard Regiment of Renown. IIRC, any two Graveguard units should work.
They're Grave Guard Regiments of Renown, and those can only be from the Grim and the Grave DLC (The one with Volkmar & Helman)
I think the sternsmen are a regiment of renown, i dont know if it is DLCtied, but it also is a question how one would be able to recruit two RoR?
Maybe they're the guys you get when you have a bloodline lord that opens them up.
They are the regiments of renown but regular grave guard work as well. There is a similar quest for tyrion for white lions of chrace ROR, but regular ones work too.

Queek's actually kind of fragile. He's more of a damage-dealer/duelist than a "tanky" lord. Like a less extreme version of Snikch. More importantly though, Queek can't summon Clanrats. I mean he can because of the extra menace belows, but extra menace belows alone won't hold back a rumbling grumbling tide of dwarfs.

But surely just the fact that he's a legendary melee lord meanshe's worth more in a tanky situation than a grey seerer with clan rat summons?

@@higeorge2998 Queek himself is still much better at tanking than a Grey Seer, yes. The issue is that covering flanks is so important with weapons team armies, which Queek just cannot do.

You forgot to use the buff from the engi for 60 accuracy for the rattling guns and jezzails, also his rocket should be cast on a unit that has other units behind it (usually at the start when they are clumped up) , it always splits like that , like a cone. Also a nice job as usual.
That buff isn't worth the time to select the engineer and click the ability, jezzails are already accurate enough and accuracy doesn't matter for ratlings, I have never seen Legend use that ability
even with all the adjustments thats still a frightening matchup, I would cut my losses on this one
