them talking about bodies on bodies is referring to them killing the game (the music industry i'm assuming)

  • @clalop12
    @clalop12 2 года назад +17

the song is about what they represent as a group, black (strong, independent, fierce) pink (beautiful, feminine, cute), this is the first song they release in two years, which for kpop is A LOT, so this song is announcing their comeback before they release the album next month. pink venom isn't sexual per se, it represents them, theyre beautiful but if you provoke them they won't go easy on you. also the bodies on bodies part, they're the biggest girl group currently not only in kpop but in the world, yet a lot of people talk on them or use them for media play when they're on hiatus, so it's about bodies -> ending those people that use them for clout

Kpop is an extremely competitive industry. “bodies on bodies” is a reference to them killing the game also when they are in your area its a full house everyone side by side next to each other like “bodies on bodies. “ can also refer to their body type.

They referenced SO MUCH old school and 2000s hip hop in this. It’s fire 🔥 They all have great respect and love for hip hop and American pop artists. These are the references Ive caught. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong or missing anything lol
•BlackPink chant - Snoop Dogg I Wanna Rock
•Kick in the Door waving the Coco (Chanel) - Biggie Kick In the Door
    •Rihanna Pon de Replay
•Look what you made us do - either Taylor Swift Look What You Made Me Do or someone said another rap song but I can’t remember
•Makes no sense you couldn’t get a dollar out of me - 50 Cent P.I.M.P
•I bring the pain like - Method Man Bring the Pain
•I think the piano in the chorus is Eazy-E but I can’t place the song
•Obvious boom bap beat in the second verse, but also the outfits and set design are very early 2000s hip hop
The whole song is an homage and they killed it.
Hope you check out more from them!! 🖤

Homage after Homage and this without even mentioning other Artists for CLOUT (often shout outs fall into clout chase instead of homages)
The first Antidrop chorus is typical for Black Girlgroup songs like TLC, BLAQUE, DESTINY'S CHILD etc.
Even the *aesthetics* like the all beige outfit on a concrete setting with flowing curtains on the background is straight from the 90's Black Girl Group aesthetics of their MV's.
The secondary chorus was the Update version making it their Girlgroup U.S Aesthetics like neon pink plus camo cargopants, Nba Jersey bomber jacket, Labeled Dior outfit etc.
And the final dance break was the Blackpink version of a dance break powerful, catchy and rhythmic.

They are definitely paying homage to old school hip hop. I'm so sick of people accusing them of cultural appropriation. If you know the girls and Teddy the producer of most of their songs you would know their love and devotio9n of hip hop influencer's. The hate these girls get is insane and so undeserved. They work their asses off and possess more talent than most out today.

    • @peteyca

If they like the person/group, it's paying homage... if they don't like the person/group, it's "cultural appropriation".... it's just cancel culture looking for it's next victim. 🥱

This song is a tribute to 90’s-2000’s rap and pop songs. That’s why so many of the lyrics have references. Also this is a Pre release single so it’s not a Main single track. The Main single comes in September when the album releases.

This that pink Venmo interpretation mean they introducing themselves to you (Black =venom and pink=pretty girls). Just think of this way, Venom is poison but It can be cure, and once it does you’ll never forget that venom. Taste that pink venom mean you got a taste of them and now you can’t get enough. Hopefully that helps! All of their songs has metaphors in em lol! Welcome to kpop!

I'm a fan of your Bo Burnham reactions so it's fun to watch you dive into Kpop: which is the polar opposite of Bo Burnham. Kpop isn't meant to be complicated. It's meant to be catchy, exciting, and fun to watch -- Blackpink always excels at those things. This new song isn't their best (and their editor deserves a stern talking-to for cutting this video to shreds), but there's a reason BP is so successful. I'd encourage you to watch some of their set from when they performed at Coachella in 2019 -- they sing live, pump up the crowd, and do their choreography all at once. I'm always impressed by how they can deliver this kind of spectacle in a live setting.

actually you've incorrectly interpreted both of their songs wrong as female empowerment. Kill this love wasn't against love, but _toxic_ love, singing to kill it 'before it kills you too.' Nor is Pink Venom a feminist anthem - the song title reflects their group name, Blackpink because they're feminine but also addictive. It can be a bit confusing but reading the subtitles might help make it a bit more clearer.

Lesson time: Yes, they and their producer are paying homage throughout the video with both lyrics and style. bodies like Rambo (body count) = body on body... killing the game and their haters .... pink is not a reference to anything sexual, but reflects their softer feminine side, black their harder savage side. Two rappers, two singers, all awesome ladies. You need to listen to some of their stuff.. Their cover of Miguel Sure Thing is awesome, and they added a rap verse at the end. They do not use sexually explicit or implicit lyrics to get views, but do have hidden message in the MV and lyrics, if you know where to look. All our global Amb for major fashion chains, which is why you hear Coco (Chanel) and CELINE (Jennie and Lisa). Teddy Park is their producer (West Coast US kid in the 90's) who came to Korea around 2000 and was one of the first rap stars in KPOP. and has been sought out by some of the biggest names in the business, but is staying in Korea. These ladies have collab with Meghan TS, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga to name a few. Do some research please

Pretty Savage is another one of their songs that feel like women empowerment. Sour candy (w/Lady GaGa) is another. YG Entertainment is their company and all the singers/groups have an R&B, Hip Hop vibe. CL was a member/leader of the now disbanded group 2NE1. Her music pays homage to the OG's of Hip Hop and R&B. She writes most of her songs and raps. her song Lifter is one you guys should react to. Hello Bitches, HWA, Spicy, Tie a cherry, Chuck, Alpha some other suggestions. BTW 2NE1 was under YG and debuted in 2009 was the "older sister" groups to Black Pink. disbanded in 2016. Blank Debuted 2016

They have multiple parts where they are paying homage to other artists, specially hiphop.
Apart the "Kick in the Door" that you noticed, the first chant "Blackpink" sounds with a couple hiphop songs. Some might say it sounds like Snoop Dogg "I wanna Rock", tho also heard people mentioning Nas "I Made You Look".
The rap verse with Lisa and Jennie, has in the background a similar sound to "Gangsta Gangsta" by NWA. If you go to that song (around the minute 4 or something) the part with Ice Cube and Easy-E might have some similarities.
Some also believe the "cant take a dollar out of me" line in Lisa's part could be a reference to 50cent "Pimp", But others dont know since that one might have multiple meanings.
To also understand why so many references to hiphop, their producer Teddy Park (despite borning in S.Korea) grew up in the US. Part of his youth was in NYC and later his family moved to somewhere near LA. Now keep in mind this was late 80's, early 90's.
This led to him being in contact to old school hiphop, and that kinda became his thing.
Then, still in the 90´s he signed with YG Ent. (same label of Blackpink) who is a label more turn to hiphop than most kpop companies (specially at that time).
So his career is mostly as a rapper and producer in YGE, which leads to Blackpink also having some connection with hiphop since both their label and producer have their roots in that genre.
This song was kinda showcasing different parts of them. for example the concepts, which show the "BlackPink" duality: bad ass and savage (Black) but also pretty and cute (Pink).
Since the goal was to showcase multiple aspects of them, it made sense to also pay homage to genres that in a way is part of the group's roots.

If you appreciate the depth of bo Burnham stuff and you're getting into kpop, I HAVE to recommend BTS. Mic Drop is great, or any of their ciphers if you like rap. Outro: Tear is amazing, and Fake Love as well. Be warned, you ay also want to consider watching some explanation videos as well depending on what song or MV you end up watching as the cultural references can go over our heads as Westerners in some of their more complex work.
