This track was put on the calendar with a lot of fanfare while Kyalami, Zandvoort and The Osterreichring would disappear in the next 2 years. Nearly 40 years later, this parade is still on the calendar.
At least the 1986 race was interesting with the Piquet versus Senna fight. Piquet overtook Senna three times in that race, and most memorably with a power slide around the outside of him into turn 1. The track might be a challenge for the drivers but it does not encourage good racing.
