Thank you for taking us along, just curious why so much motoring? You are never going to replace Joshua Slocum in sailing history if you keep that motor running. 😉 So exciting! 👍🏻Well Done.

Always keep an even (light) strain on the furling line when setting the sail. Otherwise it will build an instant bird's-nest on the drum. Guaranteed.

You've gotta control that tiller when you single-hand! Even bungees are better than nothing, but a tiller pilot would be a prudent investment for a single-hander. Good luck!

Hi, nice video. I also started sailing single handed a short time ago. I also purchased a autopilot recently, that makes all the difference!
    Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for posting the not so glamorous 'learning phase'. We all go through this, just keep learning, be safe, have fun!

Jason I think the way it’s done is with two eyelets and two equal lengths of rope from either side of the hull at the stern so it maintains a course and doesn’t get in your way or become a trip hazard. Then sailing and coffee is possible. I guess also possible with one eyelet directly under the tiller. But then you need some fibreglass and reinforcing. Oh snap a twin, see how they auto-tiller.

It's so pretty out there with the wind and the water, but man, that is too much work for me lol. You did a great job with the twisted lines and getting that sail to behave, each day is a learning experience.

Put stopper knots in the end of those jib lines that way they will not go all the way thru.

Gosh I was at the opening of the Makinaw Bridge! It looks like the Island would be a wonderful place to be. Going back in time, the bridge looked so beautiful when I first saw it, was 14 on a trip with parents going back to Canada.
Your trip is very interesting it seems like an endurance test in some ways, so much to know and no room for mistakes.
