Besides not agreeing on the take about Nolan's Oppenheimer (a masterpiece imo)
I'm happy to see a video on the massively underrated Theresa Russell. An actress who sadly struck at the end of New Hollywood era as Hollywood was slowly morphing into blockbuster work again, and even though she had the looks and talent to be a big time Hollywood actress in the 80's. She always felt like an outsider to all that.
I think her best film with her ex husband Nic Roeg, was probably Bad Timing, probably my favourite film from Roeg. Although Eureka (Danny Boyle and Mark Cousins both consider it Roeg's best film) and Insignificance are highly recommended both are definitely flawed. Track 29 was written by the great Dennis Potter and has a bonkers performance from a young Gary Oldman, It's weakest of the Roeg/Russell films. I don't think any other director ever got the best out of Russell.
Straight Time, I like the Bill Murray version of The Razor's Edge (Russell is pretty good in it), Black Widow is a fun thriller. She's also in Steven Soderbergh's massively underrated Kafta with Jeremy Irons (Soderbergh who's took a lot of influence from Roeg). Wild Things is just a camp classic. She's also in early Ryan Gosling cult favourite The Believer. Surprised she hasn't turned up in some strong indie films or TV work. She feels perfect for that HBO or streaming TV show world or working in A24 films.
