    Fresno california here. I love these palms but never see any in this aria so I've been hesitant on planting them. Your palm proves they do well in this aria and I will be getting some soon. Thankyou for the video

    Very informative video. I gor a 3G of Archontophoenix alexandrae (king) from Home depot yesterday. How tall would it grow? I am in Bay Area zone 9b. Will it survive our colds? recently its been cold and frost. The tree is 3-4feet tall.

    How deep do you have to plant a king palm? I ask because I live in OC California and I have a few in my backyard, and this latest Winter Storm with winds of 50mph knocked down one of my Palms, it is about 12 feet tall, should I replant deeper?

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  3 года назад +2

      Thank you very much that's true in summer the temperatures here can reach 104º and i have to water it very often but what worries me the most is the night temperatures in winter since they can reach 41º and i don't see a lot of king palms over here.

    • @TropicalGardenGuy
      @TropicalGardenGuy  3 года назад +2

      41f won’t hurt a king palm, actually 32f is fine.
      If you can’t find a live palm, get seed.
      They grow fast from seed.
      Good luck and happy growing !

    Jeff, is there 1 key in keeping your palms healthy in our valley? Like, how do you keep the king palm from burning in the summer sun? Do you just make sure it is heavily watered prior and during he hottest months? Or is there more to it? Please don’t be modest. 😉
