I worked at a dealership that sold used luxury, exotics, and restored classics. We were also a lotus and backdraft racing dealer. Backdraft makes replica cobras and puts some insane motors in them we got some with ls motors, coyotes, fuel injected 427s, etc. My favorite was one our classic shop did ourselves swapping a hemi 5.7 with a supercharger out of a totaled hellcat into it. I drove quite a few of them and loved every minute of it. Not only were they head turners and it felt awesome being 20 driving around a badass classic from half a century ago but they perform amazing. Another thing we did that backdraft to my knowledge didn’t include was removable hardtops through a local body shop that the owner of the dealership had worked with for a while. The body shop would custom make what we called football helmets, because it’s what they looked like when off the car, to fit the replica cobras we sold as an option for customers. We had 1 real cobra come through on consignment while I was there and it sold for $1.5m with something like 20 original miles. The replicas are good enough for me though, I still have a video my boss took of me wearing my lime green motorcycle helmet doing pulls on the highway in a lime green backdraft cobra on the way to a car show for the dealership.

@houtarooreki5751 all that's needed is a good gear reduction drive starter and a high CCA Battery and that problem will be solved. The starter setup on there now might be fine on a cold start engine, but after the 427 cu/in engine has been running long enough to reach operating temperatures and everything expands with heat to the tightest part of their stacked tolerances the higher powered starter would probably help immensely.

Fewer than 100 of those estimated to remain. In 2021, the prototype 1964 Cobra 289 “CSX2000” sold for $13.75 million. More common small-block Cobras tend to sell in the $2 million range today. The 427 engine commands higher prices, generally speaking. This being a one-off custom (as far as I know) AC Cobra, was still probably several hundred thousand dollars to own and build. 😅
@@valentine--vincent4590 but this isn’t a cobra, it’s a fibreglass kit car/replica ffs the only thing truly “custom” on it is possibly the roof ( it’s either custom or a DAX “le mans” roof but I can’t confirm which 100% but I think it’s the DAX roof) The rest is a complete fully supplied kit by one of the most respected kit manufacturers in the world, AND YET you wrote all that under a comment that told you exactly what it is!!!!ffs, are you all there in the head bud? 🤦♂️ 😂!!! Ok here’s how it really is, in general like everything it’s worth what someone wants to pay but roughly a nicely professional built and SBC engined car like this ( less roof ) goes for 40-60k in the UK ( where the car is) this one might achieve more if someone really fell in love with it obviously, but it’s a very subjective thing with no correct answer, however if you were to build one yourself in the UK , depending on specs obviously, it could be anywhere from 20k ( 2nd hand components and most likely a 4 cylinder engine (yuck) up-to getting to the stage when you run out of money, lose yer house and the wife and kids leave 😂 😂 😂 So in short and wildly simplified, $50k - $75k less roof in the UK where actually DAX Cars originate from and they were incidentally the first company in the world, (before the hundreds of firms worldwide followed later) to make Cobra Kits ( DAX cars first cobra kit launched 1968) lastly I’ll point out that on the whole, building one would be a bit cheaper in the US (especially when considering the engine and many of the cobra replica specific parts cost price and add to that simply brilliant off the shelf availability over there for example) but in no way ANYWHERE in the world is this particular car worth “several” hundred thousand dollars, whether you are talking cost to build or cost to buy, that’s just a ridiculous comment and shows you have nothing but a complete lack of knowledge on the subject 😂
That starter isn't dragging... it's fighting for its life against compression the likes its never faced before.
And he's filling up with pump gas? Pretty soon he's about to blow a head gasket or knock a hole through a piston or suck the valves through the seats from the insane amount of detonation and spark knock from running 93 or less octane fuel, an engine with enough compression to make the starter load up like that needs at least 100 octane fuel to run for any prolonged period, especially under load. Someone needs to tell him he should be running avgas or racing fuel if he doesn't want to trash his super expensive engine
@@TactaGhoul to be fair that station has a triple hose setup, they could have high octane. I've seen it at a few locations where one pump was 84/5, 87/9, 93/4 on one hose, 97 on the second, and jp/av on the third.but they were also near a raceway park.

@@einervonvielen8869EU 95 = US 91, and EU 98 = US 93
But yea, we still have 87 which is considered "regular". Newer US GTIs are designed to run on US 87 octane, so now I'm wondering why. Are they tuned differently in Germany where the equivalent octane doesn't exist?
@@rjmarithat's interesting, I didn't know octanes were regional. In New Zealand we have 91, 95, and some stations also have 98. Would these be equivalent to the EU?
