I just surveyed GD Altheas from the debut 8/4/79 to last shows & I can't find one where Jerry plays (IMO) as good as Jack does in this video. And I've been playing guitar and "serious" music (jazz, classical) since I was 13. The other YT videos teaching Althea are an absolute joke compared to Jack. Wow.
I finally got it. After all these years. Man, cant thank you enough for this one. Something finally clicked and now I understand Jerry's playing all the better.
Best playing and explanation of anyone doing playing or lessons on Dead/Garcia. Shows how to get Jerry's grime (Jacksnax calls it sourness here) to the tone and bends. Gets that chicken pickin stuff and weird half note bends. That (!) along with the full knowledge of the chords, chromatic moves, and correct positions of the chords. This is really great. Thank you very much!
The way he played Althea reminded me exactly the way Garcia played it in 1993 at RIT(Rochester institute of technology) when my best friend Greg was still alive!❤
You got an instant subscribe from me my friend. Been playing along to Dead recordings basically my entire life and your videos are unlocking so much knowledge and approaches I never considered before. This channel is going to be a game changer for my practice!
I literally have not seen anyone solo over Dead songs as good as this guy
Is your last name Garcia, by any chance?

Some of Jerry’s bends are unique …they seem to under bend or slide bend ….his own style. He was a great writer
I cannot describe how I feel ...... This is so awesome and my favorite song. Thanks sir!! Appreciated. These lessons matter a lot... sugareeee :D
This is some of the tastiest playing I have seen on RUclips
The beginning jam was absolutely beautiful.
Just heard somebody rapping over the Althea solo on TikTok. Had to come listen to the real thing. Good job, man

Love this tune - Nassau Coliseum - May 1980 version is tops in my book - fantastic playing Jack and another great lesson!!!
I don’t know when Jerry’s soul entered your body, but I’m glad you’re sharing it with the world.
That's sweet man, Jerry would be smiling ❤
Incredible lesson, thank you very much! Great playing and teaching style
Your videos just remind me how incredible Jerry Garcia was. These are hands down the best dead lessons on RUclips, keep it up!
