If you can get past the Revolutionary War costumes, you will have to admit that Paul Revere & the Raiders, were a very talented band.

Of course they were talented and the uniforms started the trend in hippie clothing Hendrix The Who The Beatles the stones Deep Purple etc etc but really what the uniforms did for him visually was make them completely absolutely unique compared to any other band in the 60s outside of Dallas Green Men who have their hair dyed greener and

"I, am gonna tell you, about 'Ooh Poo Pah Doo'" I like the way Mark says that in the intro. Very good color and sound. It's great to see Drake and Fang, too. Today's TV has way too many reality shows, music I don't care for, and even comedy isn't what it used to be. Today young people refer to each other as "Dog". Sorry, I'll get off my soap box. I'll just conclude by saying I wish it was 1965 again when times were simpler.

I haven't seen every video from the '60's but I've seen some good ones so far. What I like about this video is that Mark, Paul, Drake, Fang and Smitty all look like they are having fun. That's probably why The Raiders were popular in the '60's. They were a tight band.
So I'm glad that RUclips is here, to allow me to check out some great history, such as The Raiders!!!
    PEACE EVERYBODY!!!

Watching this reminds me WHY I had such a crush on Mark Lindsay... 0:57 Lord have mercy, what that voice/face combination could do to a 12-year-old girl.... And, may I say, still does to this 65-year-old woman... :-) And Fang and Drake... can't watch them without grinning. How I loved those boys!

@alonenjersey Paul Revere & The Raiders represent good times. Too bad I was just a toddler when they were making this good music. I really dig the Early American Costumes. I thought that a cool gimmick. I like the way Mark sings, the way Drake plays guitar, Fang with his signature bass, Smitty on drums, and Paul on organ. I'll tell ya what, Fang and Drake were pretty tight. They were best friends that grew up together.
    RIP DRAKE AND SMITTY :(

@alonenjersey Paul Revere & The Raiders were a lot better than the music kids listen to today (if you can call it "music"). I mean, I absolutely hate rap, hip-hop, and whatever popular music kids listen to these days. Back in the '60's, you had The Raiders, The Monkees, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, DC5, The Loving Spoonful, Jefferson Airplane, and so much more. Back then, music meant something, and it was fun to listen to (still is fun).
    Thanks for your reply :)

On this day in 1965 {May 22nd} Paul Revere and the Raiders performed "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" on the Dick Clark ABC-TV network Saturday-afternoon program 'American Bandstand'...
Their covered version of "Oo Poo Pah Doo" did not make Billboard's Top 100 chart, the record's flip-side, "Sometimes", reached #131 on Billboard's Bubbling Under chart...
Both songs were off their 1965 album 'Here They Come', the album peak at #71 on Billboard's Top LP chart...
Exactly five years earlier on May 22nd, 1960 the original version of "Ooh Poo Pah Doo" by Jessie Hill was at #33 on the Top 100 chart, one week later it would peak at #28 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the Top 100 for 16 weeks...
Paul Revere, born Paul Revere Dick, passed away at the age of 76 on October 4th, 2014...
    May he R.I.P.

@bze2nlz4 Yes, it is sad about TV today. :( When I was growing up I was very much into game shows (ex: Jeopardy! With host Art Fleming; Hollywood Squares, with Peter Marshall, the list goes on.) Even cartoons were better in the '60's and '70's that today. Had I been born in, say, 1945, than I would be a young man in '65 instead of being a toddler, and I could have watched Paul Revere & The Raiders on "Action" and other variety shows at that time.
