And I was in Lake Geneva, WI when they walked out on a highly publicized Labor Day gig at a ski resort. They pulled out in their bus just as hundreds of youths began lining up, throwing the whole town up for grabs by their action. Am I the only one who doesn't think Mark Lindsay, good looks aside, is a very good singer? And now that Paul Revere has passed away, I'm informed that a group is performing as "Paul Revere's Raiders." No original members, I presume, though the group that appeared regularly on Dick Clark's Where the Action Is tv show were not the original lineup. Pretty much a forgotten minor hit, their first chart success was an instrumental titled Like Longhair. A pre-British Invasion release, the title referred to the long hair or wigs of classical composers like Mozart and Beethoven.
Hello, All. I play these tunes when I want to be reminded of a time when our society was far more civil, more relaxed & more accepting of each other ("do your own thing"). Virtually no precious time was wasted calling each other ugly names & pointing politically correct fingers. 60's lyrics encouraged respect for ALL human beings. My husband & I made sure our children grew up hearing these 60's pop, folk & folk-rock classics with their feel good, optimistic sound. Maybe, if more parents follow suit, we, as a nation, could get back there again. Peace.

There was a local show called "Where the Action Is," that televised the shows. Another popular guy was Keith Allison. But Paul Revere and the Raiders were in Sixteen Magazine right off, with Mark Lindsay as the big heartthrob. I think this song sounds like early POCO before POCO. It could have been a Buffalo Springfield song.
I liked the Raiders back then - but I loved the paper plates! I still use them till this day! I don't think those paper plates get the recognition they deserve.
Ah. My sister (then only about 20) and her best friend used to play Bingo with all the old ladies. They got a kick out of it. Anyway, Sis had her Bingo wands in the car. So, here’s this 20 year old and this 17 year old singing their lungs out to this song, toolin’ down the road, using Bingo wands (of all stupid things) as microphones. I love this super fun song and Iove the memory of our goofiness that goes along with it.
I must admit that Paul Revere and the Raiders were a guilty pleasure back in the day, and this was my favourite tune among their many hits. These guys were hot looking and one of the original boy-bands. Their music should be re-mastered for higher sound quality and re-issued as a box set.
I find it funny how people complain about all the lip-synching going on in the present days. There are no amplifiers, no mics on the drums, no cables coming from the guitar or bass (this was before they had wireless packs for guitars), no stage monitors and at about 1:34 the drummer stops playing yet you can clearly hear the cross stick (or rim click as it is sometimes known) on the snare drum. So in other words lip-synching or in this case instrument-synching has been going on for a long time. By the way I owned at least one Paul Revere and the Raiders albums back in the '60s so not picking on them.
I was a closet Raiders fan and I still enjoy those clowns, they could always make you smile! I am glad I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's they were the best of times!
If MTV had existed in 1966 vs. 1981 these guys would have been superstars. Mark knew how to mug for the camera plus the rest of the guys had a collective sense of humor of not taking themselves too seriously but were great musician's, nonetheless.
I love the way they refuse to take the lipsyncing role seriously, goofing around toward the end of the song. You see a lot of that in these '60s clips; I think the Lovin Spoonful and the Boxtops both were in clips where they lifted their hands in the air or made light of the fakery in some other way. It must have been frustrating having to do that on shows that didn't have the time or resources to make a live performance work.

NOW THAT IS ROCK AND ROLL !!! PA REVERE AND THE RAIDERS FEATURING MARK LINDSEY 👍👍👍👍
I must admit that Paul Revere and the Raiders were a guilty pleasure back in the day, and this was my favourite tune among their many hits. These guys were hot looking and one of the original boy-bands. Their music should be re-mastered for higher sound quality and re-issued as a box set.
gwwayner LOL! I loved them, too. Still have their albums, even. But I was way too cool to let anybody know!
The Raiders ROCKED! how are they still not in the R&R Hall of Fame...smh.
Mark Lindsay had very good looks and an excellent voice and was a teeny bopper fave in the '60's!
I always enjoyed the way the Raiders cut up during their songs! Still do! Thanks for posting this!
I'm glad the new Tarantino movie had a lot of Paul Revere and the Raiders. A very underrated band.
The best American band during the ‘60’s. This was their best song.
Those outfits are fantastic! Wow is all that I can say
Gosh this brings back good memories! Saw them in concert twice in the 60's. One of the best live bands for sure.
Tell it to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame They Derserve to be in there !
one of the top bands or the 60's!
GOOD!! BACK IN THE GOOD OLE DAYS JAMS!!! MISS THOSE DAYS WHEN I WAS JUST A KID!!
The guitarist & bassist are awesome!
Great sync up moves!
I had this album back in the day one of the best albums of all time
I love the way they refuse to take the lipsyncing role seriously, goofing around toward the end of the song. You see a lot of that in these '60s clips; I think the Lovin Spoonful and the Boxtops both were in clips where they lifted their hands in the air or made light of the fakery in some other way. It must have been frustrating having to do that on shows that didn't have the time or resources to make a live performance work.
This was my all time favorite from them. 1967
Watched them perform this song on stage at the Western Idaho Fair Grounds when I was a kid. They were SO cool and SO funny.
my favorite. summer of"67. fun fun time
Yeah, I almost survived it.
+don bates Yeah, it was absolute wonder unadulterated paradise at age 16/17. It was cool, too. I still wanna go back there, though the food would be awful.
My favorite of all their songs
PR & the R always had the best outfits of any 1960s band.
My favorite group in Jr. High. I adored Fang!!!
The music from my generation is such a beautiful sound compared to today
I'm 41 (in 2021) and I know about, and love, this band because of my dad. And now I'm part of the "old generation"! Jeez ... :D
This song, as well as Just Like Me and The Great Airplane Strike, still kicks butt today.
And "Hungry" and "Kicks" and "Good Thing" and....... :)
I love this song - I just wish the video quality was better
A lot of hits, fun to watch, and they entertained you!
