Catelyn Stark died: A. Knowing her husband was beheaded a traitor B. Knowing Sansa's prisoner to their enemies C. Unaware of Arya's whereabouts D. Thinking Theon burned Bran and Rikkon E. Never making amends to Jon Snow F. Witness her eldest son and grandchild murdered Season 3 was intended to tear the Starks apart. The North Remembers
G. Cat died without knowing the truth behind Jon's parentage. He kept his promise to his sister well aware it would his ruin relationship with his wife, but he did it anyway.
It is "The RAINS of Castamere" (...but now the RAINS weep o-er his hall, with no one else to hear...) but it does chronicle the destruction of House REYNE of Castamere by the Lannisters.
So sorry Mum, but we all went through that emotional pain. GOT will kick your butt, Yet we come back for more! You're now a woman of winter which is really a good thing. The wounds will heal in time, so hang in there.
When winter comes, you'll hear no lions roar. No stags grazing the fields, No roses growing in the meadows, No snakes in the sand. The krakens will freeze where they swim, The flayed men will rot and wither. No trout swimming in the river, And no falcons flying in the sky, Not even the dragons breath will warm you in your halls. Only the wolves howl in the night, And you'll know winter is coming. One day the wolves will come again. Let the southerners have their fairy tales and summers, We northerners have home For The north remembers my friend The north remembers
The guy that kills Robb is Roose Bolton, he's the guy that was with Jaime and Brienne in Harrenhall (the place where the bath scene takes place). So when Jaime leaves, Roose is also leaving to go to this wedding and Jaime tells him to send Robb Sark his regards. So in the book, before killing Robb, Roose says "Jaime Lannister sends his regards"; but in the show they changed it to "The Lannisters send their regards" because they didn't want people to believe that Jaime was responsible for it.
New Yorker They changed it because of the Lady Stoneheart story line. Currently as of now in the books, Jaime is in the Riverlands and will soon cross paths with Cat's reanimated body who's last words she heard before her death were "Jaime Lannister sends his Regards"
You have become too much of a ranger mate :) I can't blame you... After years of watching people's misery during this episode, I believe that all of us are starting to become little grr Martins ourselves... :)
After got over the shock I was like that was great. I though it was bloody brilliant. I mean what a brilliant way to tell your audience no one is safe in this show then to kill off almost your entire cast in less then 5 min. The brutality by which they did it was brilliant.
The brain behind this massacre of Staks is the same as behind the massacre of Rayns and Castamere Houses, murder of Princess Elia of Dorne and her two children - Tywin Lannister (father of Cersei, Jamie and Tyrion)
I legit found this woman today and love her reviews bc you can tell how invested she is and isnt afraid to be herself in front of the camera- mad respect 👏🏼👏🏼
Grats on the subs! This is the BEST television show ever! The highs are so high and the lows are so incredibly low. I'm glad you're along for the ride with the rest of us.
Just a little info for you, incase you were confused. So the song playing is obviously the Rains of Castamere, as many have said already. The story behind the song, is the story Cersei was telling Margery in the last episode. It's a song that is embraced by the Lannisters, but to everyone else in the South it means fear and danger. Catelyn is originally from the Riverlands, which is in the South, so she immediately recognized the song, and was concerned. And then when she saw Roose Bolton's armor, she knew. In this world, guests are supposed to be protected under, what they call 'Guest Right'. That's what the salt and bread signifies. So, people are generally unarmed. When Cat noticed that Roose had his armor on, she knew that they had been betrayed.
i know mum. it broke all our hearts. people combined told ya a bunch of stuff. like it's grrm's fault. bla bla. what they didn't tell you is how hard it could have been without so many people watching your reactions. and so much support. I mean, I for one have been holding back for this "hug" for a long long time. I tried not to spoil it. But then on the other side, u're not alone. so here. take u're "hug" and do what you will with it. winter is coming. If you will be able to catch up by july, and give us your reactions into season 7 as well... well then the exchange is complete. PS have more "hugz" in store, in case u need any. push on. :)
All of House Reyne was destroyed by Tywin Lannister when they rebelled against them. They had a red lion sigil while the Lannisters have a gold lion & Reyne lived in the castle Castamere. It was left in ruins & their bodies were hung in front of it. Lannisters became even bigger, powerful after & this song was dedicated to Tywin & has been known from there in out almost as a warning also a reminder of the Lannisters.
And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know. In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws, And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours. And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that Lord of Castamere, But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear. Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear.
This has got to be the biggest and most heartbreaking turnarounds in television history. Robb stark a military genius prodigy who never lost a battle lost the war because of honor
I too was shocked when I watched this episode. All I knew and expecting was Robb will succeed given all his past victories. Instead they were all slaughtered. I cannot get over it and I watched that scene several more times!
We're all a bunch of filthy sadists... but still, _The Rains of Castamere_ reactions are always heartbreaking... this is the point where people quit the books or the show for a time (or some forever) to cool off (of course the book readers were avidly waiting to see their friends' reactions when it first aired, bastards that we are...) Things of note: The events at the end of the episode are commonly known as _"the red wedding"._ The sharing of the bread and salt, or _"guest right",_ is an ancient and sacred custom in Westeros, going back thousands of years to the First Men, a sacred law of hospitality (especially in the north), which establishes that the guest and the host can't harm each other while under the host's roof. Breaking it means invoking the wrath of the gods, and a crime comparable to kinslaying, and practically unheard of (although a lord can always _deny_ guest right). The song that made Cat suspect something was amiss was _"The Rains of Castamere",_ after which the episode is named; as Cersei explained in the previous episode (Chekhov's song?) it was commissioned by Tywin Lannister after his eradication of House Reyne to commemorate the massacre and make sure other houses knew to stay put. Cat finally snapped when she realised Bolton was wearing chainmail. A possible equivalent would be noticing that that friend of the family who's known for moving in unsavoury circles is wearing a bulletproof vest at your wedding. A couple of historical inspirations for the Red Wedding were, according to Martin, _The Black Dinner,_ where, quoting Martin, _"the king of Scotland was fighting the Black Douglas clan. He reached out to make peace. He offered the young Earl of Douglas safe passage. He came to Edinburgh Castle and had a great feast. Then at the end of the feast, [the king’s men] started pounding on a single drum. They brought out a covered plate and put it in front of the Earl and revealed it was the head of a black boar - the symbol of death. And as soon as he saw it, he knew what it meant. They dragged them out and put them to death in the courtyard",_ and _the Glencoe Massacre,_ also in Scotland, where Clan MacDonald stayed with the Campbell clan overnight and the laws of hospitality supposedly applied, but the Campbells arose and started butchering every MacDonald they could get their hands on.
Marc B. Poblet Yes, ur all demented 😟 I had no clue until it was too late. While editing, I heard the doors shut & the Lannisters song play and I cried all over again 😭😩😔
The show (or the books) turned us into _this..._ you'll notice plenty of reactors in your comments, all of them waiting for you to reach this episode so they can -laugh at your misery- _commiserate..._ Some day you'll also be refreshing every five minutes, unable to wait for some poor soul to be crushed by the Red Wedding... _Mwuhahahah..!_ :'D
American Mum Bless you for that, but it would been totally understandable if you said you'll do the review on the next video. I have seen more than one reactor have to do that. Like I said, I couldn't even speak after watching this the first time. 💔
This response was so real & genuine. This show just rips your heart out. But it's so good. This was one of the most heartbreaking episodes of television I have ever seen. "The Red Wedding" ugh... thank you for this.
"The Lannisters send their regards." Lord Bolton jeez, savage. And to think all this could have been avoided if Robb married the Frey Girl. Obviously a lot of others aspects but that was one of them
Spartan10007 it wouldn’t have mattered if he did or not. Tywin has to turn the tide against Robb in the war, Tywin had more to offer Walder Frey than Robb did by making him Lord of the Riverlands. Frey only wants to be on the winning side, he doesn’t care who it is. He was just justifying his actions by bringing up the oath
Oh, I watched your video, too... And, yes, you broke my heart as well... and like AM you did it by yourselves... At least MsAmberGlamour and UnquailfiedNerds and a few others had others to share the shock and pain... Anyway, can't wait for your 6/10 finale... Peace...
well on his defense, Tyrion almost died....and ffs no matter how much one can hate Cercei, for lions to loose to a fucking stag, that is blasfemy. I was team Lannister in that episode #GoTyrion
I know the feeling I had to rewatch this episode over just to make sure what I was watching was real. The episode that Arya pays them back ten fold is so satisfying though.
But Hunter you are faster than most, i just watch again your reaction to it. It took you only 40 minutes, Another episode took you 4 days. And another episode you said that scene is great but not erase the scene before. It is true, you are still learning. Hope your reading help you to understand more about Sansa and Catlyn
My heart is beating really fast even though I've watched this scene a million times.I knew this was going to be extra hard for you because you actually liked Robb and Talisa's relationship while a lot of people thought it was stupid for Rob to marry her and you actually like Catelyn
When I read that part in the book, I trough it and did not read it for 5 years. Having the though of the one dying was so cruel. Catlyn was in my 3 best charactors.
Robb married for love in the show, in the books it's a little different. After being wounded in a battle in the Westerlands, he ends up sleeping with the lady who nurses him back to health. He then feels honour-bound to marry her, regardless of his oath to the Freys. This means that he follows in his father's footsteps in falling victim to his own sense of honour. This poetic parallel is lost in the show, but I think the Robb/Tulisa relationship does make us become more invested in their marriage and so the Red Wedding has even more impact here than in the books.
sabrina williams Robb should have thought with his head, ''people always think about their throats and not what's down below'' to quote Yoren. So did he expect Frey to allow him to cross the bridge when he broke an Oath to him Loved the character's Robb, Talisa and Catelyn. fun fact, on a lighter note Richard Maddens contract was up. he new from day one. Why make him a good guy?
My Mother and I had both read the books years earlier and knew what was coming, but that doesn't make this scene any less shocking. Excellent writing, excellent acting, and excellent film making. If this doesn't tear your heart out, you have no heart.
Omg *Edit:* "Perhaps I made a terrible mistake" for looking forward to this. Doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, it still hurts. This is the episode that shocked everybody, except for those who read the books. They were all smirking at the show watchers. Allthough I can imagine, it doesn't get easier for everyone to watch this. Michelle, I promise you, you're not alone in this. We, every GoT-fan, are all here with you. Seven blessings to you mum.
Yup! In the book, we see through Catelyn's point of view and she doesn't just scream and cry, she goes quite literally mad and tears her face apart with hysteria. In a way, I'm glad they didn't take it that far in the show because I'm not sure people could take seeing her go beyond broken to insane.
A couple of times this season, during scenes you can see Tywin Lannister writing messages at his desk. Basically he was communicating with Robb's bannerman Roose Bolton camped at Harrenhal (who let Jaime go) and Walder Frey at the Twins, convincing them to betray Robb and effectively destroy the Northern army at what is later known as the Red Wedding. With Edmure Tully married off to Walder's daughter, a Frey can become the de facto Lord of Riverrun and thus Walder can take control of the Riverlands from the Tullys with help from the Lannisters. With the Starks and numerous other northern lords gone, that leaves Roose Bolton to become the new Warden of the North, now allied with the Lannisters and the crown, thus ending the war. The band played 'The Rains of Castamere' as a signal to the Frey and Bolton soldiers that it was time to attack the drunk, unprepared Northern army. Cat realised something was up, because it's a Lannister triumph song. Then when she saw Roose was wearing chain mail at a wedding feast (because he knew there was about to be a fight), she understood the betrayal.
Seeing American Mum so sad makes me feel kind of sorry for anticipating this episode. Still, I can promise you that the show is worth watching beyond this point!
Read this in the book :') It hurts so much, she thought. Our children, Ned, all our sweet babes. Rickon, Bran, Arya, Sansa, Robb… Robb… please, Ned, please, make it stop, make it stop hurting… The white tears and the red ones ran together until her face was torn and tattered, the face that Ned had loved. Catelyn Stark raised her hands and watched the blood run down her long fingers, over her wrists, beneath the sleeves of her gown. Slow red worms crawled along her arms and under her clothes. It tickles. That made her laugh until she screamed. “Mad,” someone said, “she’s lost her wits,” and someone else said, “Make an end,” and a hand grabbed her scalp just as she’d done with Jinglebell, and she thought, No, don’t, don’t cut my hair, Ned loves my hair. Then the steel was at her throat, and its bite was red and cold.
I noticed she didn't understand catelyns concern when she raises roose boltons sleeve. That's chain mail. It's a flexible type of armor thats used to protect yourself form a sword slash. You dont wear that unless you're expecting a battle or obviously protection. No reason t be wearaing it at a wedding where you're surrounded by protection. But mutiny is a different story. One of the most powerful scenes in recent memory. A fabulous show.
Congrats on 3K subscribers and becoming a woman of winter! For most reactors, I get excited when they get to this episode, but for you I was almost dreading it. I promise you it does get better, otherwise we wouldn't all be so obsessed with the show and books. Thank you for doing these reactions. I watch you everyday during my lunch break and you make my day a little brighter. Hugs from Texas!
American Mum absolutely, white wine is too light by far, cocktails for the win! By the way, in the words of Capt Jack Sparrow "but, Why is the rum gone?🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹🤕
How amazing was Michelle Fairly as Catelyn Stark. She broke my heart with her performance. Apparently they had her act out that final scream for hours...
You may want to go back one episode and listen to Cersei tell Margerie the story about House Reyne. The song, "The Rains of Castamere" is well known throughout the kingdom in that it immortalizes the slaughter that the Lannisters did to House Reyne. Catalyn immediately senses the danger when she hears the song being played.
I've watched this scene dozens of times and still ugly cry. When I read the chapter in the book I was so distraught that I had to take two weeks off from reading just to compose myself.
I am sorry my dear. It is heart breaking. Winter is hard in the game of thrones. Hugs to you. You are one of us now. Thank you for all the time and effort that you put in to your videos. They are so good.
I was binge watching every episode back to back .. so Ned's beheading was still fresh. I watched this episode while eating lunch at subway . let's just say the binge took a pause I was numb for weeks
As a certain sadistic jerk once said "If you think this has a happy ending, then you haven't been paying attention". Something truly remarkable ALWAYS happens around the 9th episode of the season. Without going too deeply into spoilers the reason Robb was so trusting of Walder during this wedding was because A) he had thought they were passed his slight and B) because he agreed to host him and his men in his castle. In Westeros there is a custom where if you host someone in your home they are to be kept safe. They the guests must not try to kill you and you the host must not try to murder them. If you break it and kill them while they are under your roof then then you earn yourself a horrible and distrustful reputation somewhere on the same level as a kinslayer or kingslayer. Although someone as disliked as Walder Fry doesn't really have much farther to fall.
even tho this is an old video, this episode was very heartbreaking and your reaction made me feel every bit of emotion i felt when i first saw it, you earned a sub, much love.
The good thing is GOT is not always so depressing. When something bad happens then something good happens and vice versa. That is why it is different to any show because any character can die at any time and that is what keeps us watching so much and why it is the number 1 show in the world.
This brings back memories of my first time watching that scene. It was at 3am during a long night of binge watching and my first reaction was, "What the heck did I just watch?" All I could think about was how close Arya was to her family who she had not seen in years. That's GOT....sucks you in only to chew you up and spit you out!
I didn't cry during this ep but I was shocked. My mouth was hanging open the whole time during the red wedding. I remember looking over at my friends who all knew it was coming and going WTF did I just watch. Then went they just killed off the entire cast what they hell they going do for next season. This ep diffently made you realize no one was safe. This was hands down one most brutal scenes I've ever seen in TV shows. It was great.
TVandME Thanks Kevin! I got thru the review this time too! There are so many on my shit list now... in the words of "little shit", KILL THEM ALL!!! 😩 (not Tyrion)
What a great genuine reaction. It's nice to see someone completely unspoiled ... big hugs! I know it doesn't feel like it right now but it gets better my dear. Better and more epic than you can imagine.
You have the best reaction to the Red Wedding on RUclips!! you're so genuine! I said the same thing when it ended! "I hate this show!! I'm not watching it ever again!" but once you've started GOT you cant depart from it.. "the show must go on" ;)
Oh Michlle! I'm so sorry! Ugh, the Red Wedding. 💔😢 I know this is brutal, horrifying, and super painful. We have all been there. Sadly, it's one of those awful things every GOT fan must go through. A right of passage, if you will. I was in the middle of a GOT marathon when I first saw this and I couldn't watch the show again for several days. I promise you that no matter how many times you watch the Red Wedding, it never gets easier. It hurts just as much as it did the first time I saw it. Catelyn's scream of agony is what gets me the most. I never even liked her, but her death still felt like a punch in the gut. On the plus side, you are no longer a summer child. Maybe not quite a child of winter yet, but you certainly earned some stripes for surviving this excruciating episode. We're here for you, Michelle. It will be okay!
American Mum She did. I think as soon as she saw Robb die, that was the end for her, too. She already believe Arya, Bran, and Rickon were dead and Sansa was captive in King Landing. She probably didn't think she had anything else to live for. When her throat was slit, she was just an empty shell at that point. 💔😢
Yes, in the third Game of Thrones book, Storm of Swords, the Red Wedding occurs and that does happen to Catelyn. In fact, Catelyn took Lord Walder Frey's halfwit son as hostage (not Frey's wife as seen in the show). ***SPOILER ALERT*** Don't read the next line if you don't wish to know how the book differs from the show. Okay, after the Red Wedding and Catelyn's throat is cut, we all assume she is dead. Her naked body is dumped into the river as a mockery to House Tully's funeral customs. After 3 days in the river, her body is recovered by Arya Stark's direwolf, Nymeria. Catelyn is then resurrected by Lord Beric Dondarrion and he ends up giving his own life for hers during this ritual. Her wounds partially heal but she is left mutilated and unable to speak. She then takes over Dondarrion's outlaw band (brotherhood without banner) and enacts vengeance upon anyone she sees as collaborators with the Lannisters. She is known thereafter as Lady Stoneheart.
There are two Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones before the Red Wedding and Game of Thrones after the Red Wedding. Fans have to remember that these stories come from a set of very long books. The stories weren't created for tv to quickly appease fans the way most tv shows are done.
Did you know the in the first book the first chapter was Bran POV ending with him pushed by Jaime. That was a choc, first time reading a book with first POV dying (I though he was dead) God it was before year 2000
8 seasons of brutal deaths, and stabbing the woman in the belly where her unborn child is STILL ranks as #1, followed very closely by Princess Shireen being burned alive by Melisandre.
Oh you poor thing! I feel bad for seeing the uploads and immediately getting excited and saying, "Oh f*** yeah!" out loud... ! :) I know Ned's death gets to people, too... but with that one there was so much build-up and anticipation and you knew that the end result was an option. I think with this, it's so sudden and unexpected and that's why it really gets to everyone the way that it does. That's why we all say you're not a man/woman of winter until this point. :) You have no idea it's going to happen, especially with the guest rights and everything that are so sacred in Westeros.
Historically, the "Rains of Castamere" is played at court as a threat to enemies of the Lannisters. It's why Catelynn has a confused and shocked look on her face when she hears the first few notes of the song. The Reynes were a House of similar stature to the Lannisters. They were both incredibly wealthy due to large, family-owned gold mines, had similarly named family homes - Casterly Rock & Castamere, and both bore the sigil of a Lion; the Lannisters, Gold and the Reynes, Red. During Tywin's youth, they took advantage of his father's meek generosity and borrowed large sums of money from the Lannisters. When the time came to repay the loan, thinking their lords to be toothless Lions, the Reynes refused. Tywin took it upon himself to make an example of them as their liege lord. He offered peace to the family if they repaid their debt and the offending family members turned themselves in. When they refused he sacked a vassal of House Reyne, the Tarbecks. Then marched his army on Castemere. Castamere was a castle built into the side of a mountain over the husk of a large, dried out gold mine. When Tywin's army arrived at the castle, the Reynes abandoned the walls and fortified themselves deep within the mines. Rather than attempt to breach their defenses Tywin boarded up the outside of Castamere, damned a nearby stream and had his troops dig a trench, diverting the water into the only remaining entrance to the mines. Tywin Lannister eradicated the entirety of the Reynes by drowning them. The song is a grim reminder not to cross the Golden Lions of the Westerlands. "And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low? Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know. In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws, And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours. And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that Lord of Castamere, But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear. Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear."
finally someone who wasnt spoilerd too much by explaining how important the song is. I find it really sad how much people explaining new viewers that this song is a lannister song and that have to remember it..so that new viewers directly asking "why they play a lannister song...something bad happen?"
I dunno, if she'd remembered the song, she might have had more of a reaction, instead of just staring in confusion as to why they Catelyn reacted to the song the way she did. I know I wouldn't have minded a bit of an "oh fuck" moment once the music plays.
+StormWolf i think its better this way. I find it more shocking and i think it could have been shocking like this to other reactors. But at many other reactors the alarm bells were ringing because people are explaining too much what the song is about.
More of a reaction?!?! Did we just watch the same thing? She was confused, panicking and later on broke down. That's the perfect reaction to the Red Wedding, not investigating every little clue to be one step ahead of the show. It's all about the experience and enjoying the ride. I love how when I started watching this show I didn't know anything about spoilers, the books or have anyone to guide me through things. I still figured shit out, got shocked at the right moments and loved it so much that I started getting invested into the history and lore of the world later on. Some people love to over explain to new viewers, they use their own bias to try to impact the way the new viewer sees the show and certain characters. It's better if the new viewer figures things out by themselves at their own pace.
This episode commonly know as "The Red Wedding" was IMO the first episode of TV that had a lot of reactions to it on RUclips. People who had read the books knew this was coming and so they recorded their friends and family reacting to it knowing what was coming. It was interesting to see all of the reactions. However, now when I watch reactions to this episode from reactors like yourself who I am following the journey with I almost don't want to watch because I know how sad it will make you. Hope that makes some sort of sense. Hang in there, it does get better.
Dave Hampton I can't believe I had never heard of this episode! It certainly would've blown the internet up! I'm so happy to not be spoiled but Boy! Was not prepared. I think I was in shock at first... I didn't know what I was looking at and there was so much going on!! 😩😭😔
I was so nervous but excited for you for this episode. I was screaming and crying when I first saw it. Welcome to the family You are now a woman of winter.

The song is Rains of Castamere, it's a Lannister song which is why Catelyn is concerned when she hears it
Lily-Rose Depp yeah, it's basically an Anthem of betrayal. NOT the song you wanna hear at a wedding
Not necessarily betrayal. But more of a warning as to not cross the Lannisters. House Rayne paid dearly for it.
I'm never sure: is it "Reins", "Raynes", "Rains", or what, of Castamere? Any book readers on here who can settle it once and for all?
It is "The RAINS of Castamere" (...but now the RAINS weep o-er his hall, with no one else to hear...) but it does chronicle the destruction of House REYNE of Castamere by the Lannisters.
The song uses "Rains" as a wordplay to house Reyne .
I'll never forget Catelyn's scream...so sad

The guy that kills Robb is Roose Bolton, he's the guy that was with Jaime and Brienne in Harrenhall (the place where the bath scene takes place). So when Jaime leaves, Roose is also leaving to go to this wedding and Jaime tells him to send Robb Sark his regards. So in the book, before killing Robb, Roose says "Jaime Lannister sends his regards"; but in the show they changed it to "The Lannisters send their regards" because they didn't want people to believe that Jaime was responsible for it.
New Yorker Oooh 😲 I swear, Jaime better not have known about this! 😳😠
Jaime couldn't know. He had been a prisoner all along.
All Jaime's ever wanted since the mad king is to regain his honor. He never would have participated in something as dishonorable as this
Jaime didn't know, he was a hostage while that was planned.
New Yorker They changed it because of the Lady Stoneheart story line. Currently as of now in the books, Jaime is in the Riverlands and will soon cross paths with Cat's reanimated body who's last words she heard before her death were "Jaime Lannister sends his Regards"
I smiled when I saw the thumbnail... what have I become 😟
GOT side effects, screw moral and feelings
Yeah I am such a husk of a human being at this point that I just laugh and grin.
PCGaming My little demented friends 😟
You have become too much of a ranger mate :) I can't blame you... After years of watching people's misery during this episode, I believe that all of us are starting to become little grr Martins ourselves... :)
PCGaming right...
Oh my god ... i cried so much when i saw ur reaction ...
I wish i could hug you right now ...
MareckProductions Same here! I could see u welling up 😭 I made it thru my review this time 😐 Hugs back, talk to ya soon xxx
the pain in catelyn's scream. this episode just destroyed me for three days.
After got over the shock I was like that was great. I though it was bloody brilliant. I mean what a brilliant way to tell your audience no one is safe in this show then to kill off almost your entire cast in less then 5 min. The brutality by which they did it was brilliant.
Katlyn's scream and the way Robb falls to his knees as you hear his breath leave his mouth gets me everytime. I tear up at those parts every time.
literally whenever i see anybody react to this ...i just cry again n again n again
At this point I am so desensitized to this scene that I have a huge grin on my face the entire time.
M. Srinivas My hubby said Baby, it's a tv show! WTH?!?! I about flipped out on him 😩
Yeah people who havent seen it cant really understand. Its pretty devastating.
American Mum seriously...the show is so intriguing that we are just part of it.....just can't listen anything against it😧😧
Jon Snow He travels every other week but we'll see....
I did say get a bigger wine glass mama
Dennick Thomas Oh, I got 3... they'll be making an appearance from now on! 😉🍷
Lol GRRM is an ass for writing that!!
To be fair they made it a lot worse in the show. In the books it was still terrible but D&D really twisted the knife in the show.
Dennick Thomas
Apparently it's based on a true story?
freyedat theedges No way 🤔
The brain behind this massacre of Staks is the same as behind the massacre of Rayns and Castamere Houses, murder of Princess Elia of Dorne and her two children - Tywin Lannister (father of Cersei, Jamie and Tyrion)
I legit found this woman today and love her reviews bc you can tell how invested she is and isnt afraid to be herself in front of the camera- mad respect 👏🏼👏🏼
ON A BETTER NOTE, I'VE REACHED 3k SUBSCRIBERS!! 🎉🍷
THANKS TO ALL YA'LL... LOVE, MICHELE ❤️❤️❤️
American Mum your about to get a shitload more when people see this reaction, great job
American Mum congrats 😊
Grats on the subs! This is the BEST television show ever! The highs are so high and the lows are so incredibly low. I'm glad you're along for the ride with the rest of us.
American Mum congratulations! Let's pass a milestone of 4K in the next season 👍😉
Maria Stark Thanks! Let's do it 🙂👍🏼🍷
Just a little info for you, incase you were confused.
HBKCommish Oooh, gives me chills to think about again 😔
"Farewell, Snow..." "And you, Stark..."
czefix the hug 😢
czefix well I'm crying again😿
czefix "Next Time I see ya...you'll be all in Black"
Robb never Got to see his Brother in Black.
ThatGirl Nobody ever got to see anybody 😟
"You Starks are hard to kill", Jon answered. Smart one ;-(
guys... I think we broke another one...
axl the slacker Broke my heart 😩💔
You mean, GRR Martin broke in another one.
He feeds on the tears of his book-readers and fans of the show.
i know mum. it broke all our hearts. people combined told ya a bunch of stuff. like it's grrm's fault. bla bla.
what they didn't tell you is how hard it could have been without so many people watching your reactions. and so much support.
PS have more "hugz" in store, in case u need any. push on. :)
The music that started playing that got Cats attention when they closed the door was The Rains of Castamere. The Lannister theme song. Hang in there
Lanny Spaulding During the editing, I immediately got chills that time because I knew.... oh it was so bad. Thanks for watching 😔
And who are you, the proud lord said,
that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that Lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.
It's not all bad news; Walter Frey is free to marry once again.
jason f I needed that laugh..... 🤣🤣🤣
A masterpiece of an episode. At first you laugh and then you cry.
We're all a bunch of filthy sadists... but still, _The Rains of Castamere_ reactions are always heartbreaking... this is the point where people quit the books or the show for a time (or some forever) to cool off (of course the book readers were avidly waiting to see their friends' reactions when it first aired, bastards that we are...)
Things of note:
The events at the end of the episode are commonly known as _"the red wedding"._
The sharing of the bread and salt, or _"guest right",_ is an ancient and sacred custom in Westeros, going back thousands of years to the First Men, a sacred law of hospitality (especially in the north), which establishes that the guest and the host can't harm each other while under the host's roof.
I'm so impressed you were able to maintain enough composure to do a review. I couldn't even speak after I first watched this.
Marcusinmilw I wanted to walk away; trust me! I knew y'all would want to hear something... so I tried my best 😉
I give you a lot of respect for recording this. This is honestly the hardest episode of any TV show I have ever seen.
He was just justifying his actions by bringing up the oath
the emotionless, hopeless face of Catelyn Stark at the end is burned into my brain
"Perhaps I made a terrible mistake"
ThatGirl Perhaps 👀
I'm so sorry for your loss ! It's a shock to everyone ! I couldn't talk about it Straight after ! Sendings lots of hugs mum xx
Oh hi there, i watch your reactions too.
George Alexander Thanks hun; I watched urs too. This sucks 😭 Thanks for the hugs 😉xxx
Oh, I watched your video, too... And, yes, you broke my heart as well... and like AM you did it by yourselves... At least MsAmberGlamour and UnquailfiedNerds and a few others had others to share the shock and pain... Anyway, can't wait for your 6/10 finale... Peace...
George Alexander But then again George, you cried at Blackwater 😅😉
well on his defense, Tyrion almost died....and ffs no matter how much one can hate Cercei, for lions to loose to a fucking stag, that is blasfemy. I was team Lannister in that episode #GoTyrion
We all know why it's hard to do a review, we woulda understood if you didn't do it but your a fuckin trooper for doing it. Next up is the finale!
One True David Adams lets gooooooo!
One True David Adams Hell yes onto the finale.. 🌭
One True David Adams It'll be up tomorrow, not today, sorry... I haven't been able to watch it yet😐
AM. whenever you're ready M'lady take ur time we are with you.
I know the feeling I had to rewatch this episode over just to make sure what I was watching was real. The episode that Arya pays them back ten fold is so satisfying though.
Yeah... this episode. It gets better :)
Congrats on 3K!!!
Hunter Boyle Thanks! I gotta stop being so positive with this show... when will I learn? 😭😩😔
I still havent learned lol
But Hunter you are faster than most, i just watch again your reaction to it. It took you only 40 minutes, Another episode took you 4 days. And another episode you said that scene is great but not erase the scene before. It is true, you are still learning. Hope your reading help you to understand more about Sansa and Catlyn
no it does not
My heart is beating really fast even though I've watched this scene a million times.I knew this was going to be extra hard for you because you actually liked Robb and Talisa's relationship while a lot of people thought it was stupid for Rob to marry her and you actually like Catelyn
sabrina williams I loved Robb & Talisa; he married for love (which bit him in the ass) and Cat is such a strong character; they will be missed 😔
This poetic parallel is lost in the show, but I think the Robb/Tulisa relationship does make us become more invested in their marriage and so the Red Wedding has even more impact here than in the books.
sabrina williams
Robb should have thought with his head, ''people always think about their throats and not what's down below'' to quote Yoren. So did he expect Frey to allow him to cross the bridge when he broke an Oath to him
Loved the character's Robb, Talisa and Catelyn.
fun fact, on a lighter note Richard Maddens contract was up. he new from day one. Why make him a good guy?
This scene has scared me for the rest of my life. I will never be the same again
DeAndre' Flyboi Neither will I-- if someone shuts a door and music starts to play...I'm outta there 😔
My Mother and I had both read the books years earlier and knew what was coming, but that doesn't make this scene any less shocking. Excellent writing, excellent acting, and excellent film making. If this doesn't tear your heart out, you have no heart.
Omg
*Edit:* "Perhaps I made a terrible mistake" for looking forward to this.
Nreborn Aww, thanks so much! I keep saying Michele, expect the unexpected... but do I listen? Nooooooo 😔
The book was worst, we were inside Catlyn head
Yup! In the book, we see through Catelyn's point of view and she doesn't just scream and cry, she goes quite literally mad and tears her face apart with hysteria. In a way, I'm glad they didn't take it that far in the show because I'm not sure people could take seeing her go beyond broken to insane.
That's what's called the promotion episode, when you truly realize that nobody is safe. Absolutely nobody.
Then when she saw Roose was wearing chain mail at a wedding feast (because he knew there was about to be a fight), she understood the betrayal.
troublesomebirdsong UGH!!! 😩😭😔
I saw this episode with my cousins..both are elder than me..when the massacre began we shouted all the swearing words we knew
Its incredible how this show can make you feel so much for these characters. We´ve got to thank R.R Martin for that. I cried aswell, no shame :)
The wine glass at the end was all of us😂
It's sad but the bottom line is Rob screwed up, even his father Ned Stark would've frowned on him breaking his oath.
I'm a man and I cried with this scene and when we found out about Hodor, hold the door.
Seeing American Mum so sad makes me feel kind of sorry for anticipating this episode. Still, I can promise you that the show is worth watching beyond this point!
Andrada Savu I will definitely continue... I need a full day to press forward 😔
To this day, I can't understand why she didn't get nominated for the Emmy award for best actress...
Still the very best reaction to this ever.
So poignant and un-scripted.
Read this in the book :')
It hurts so much, she thought.
Love your reaction! I don't even know how reactors were able to talk after this episode. I was speechless for at least an hour!
my southern neighbor... I feel for you. I have all 7 seasons. Til this day...I still weep behind this episode.
Luckily....Arya avenged her family.
Hugs from Texas!
first, I predict tears.
We all knew cause shs didnt saw any spoilers.
Ronald Cherry Tears, runny nose, blubbering fool...😩😭
Jorge's Blog Y'all are so awesome at that! I'm just gonna keep some Spirits nearby in case wine isn't enough 😟🍹
American Mum you survived tho! ❤
The Lannisters' cultural contribution to the realm is sadly underestimated: twitter.com/Leo_ofRedKeep/status/828630257255198720
They are so good.
stuffofme xx Thanks! I can't believe I made it thru and the review this time too 😐 I appreciate all the support! 3k subs today 🤗
I was binge watching every episode back to back .. so Ned's beheading was still fresh.
I watched this episode while eating lunch at subway .
let's just say the binge took a pause I was numb for weeks
The episode that changed pop culture forever!!
I cried so much even though I knew it was coming. I got so many feels watching this episode.
Venom0027 Oh! 😠
even tho this is an old video, this episode was very heartbreaking and your reaction made me feel every bit of emotion i felt when i first saw it, you earned a sub, much love.
Welcome to Game Of Thrones and RR Martin. This is not a regular show.
Delboy0 What did I get myself into? I need therapy 😟
The good thing is GOT is not always so depressing. When something bad happens then something good happens and vice versa. That is why it is different to any show because any character can die at any time and that is what keeps us watching so much and why it is the number 1 show in the world.
Tyrions wit and wisdom helps get you back on track with your emotions. This show is literally an emotional roller coaster ride.
I’ve seen the Red Wedding before, but when you saw Arya and said, “She’s so close to her mom!” that really got me!
Best. Reaction. Ever...
No one is safe..
There are no good or bad guys..
There is no right or wrong..
There just is...
"I don't understand what is happening." Robb f'd up.
Yeah, I get that and say so in my review. I just didn't think it was going down like that 😭
@@AmericanMumReacts Yeah me either.
Lmao the moment you knew this isn't some normal cake walk tv show with stories going the way you expect
mike Lewis Right? I keep saying, Expect the unexpected; do I listen? Noooooo 😭😔
This brings back memories of my first time watching that scene. It was at 3am during a long night of binge watching and my first reaction was, "What the heck did I just watch?" All I could think about was how close Arya was to her family who she had not seen in years. That's GOT....sucks you in only to chew you up and spit you out!
Leave one Wolf alive and the sheep are never safe
Congratulations on getting past this point, and the 3K. Great reaction series. There will be some good times in store in the future, keep watching.
El Bruce Thanks 🙂
I'm so sorry AM! I knew it would be rough for you but not this rough.. please don't give up on the show, it gets better.
Ronald Cherry I won't give up; I keep telling myself, Expect the unexpected" but do I listen? Nooooo 😭😔
American Mum Yea this show is crazy. My emotions have never been as crazy as they are watching GOT.
Ronald Cherry 🙂
I didn't cry during this ep but I was shocked. My mouth was hanging open the whole time during the red wedding. I remember looking over at my friends who all knew it was coming and going WTF did I just watch. Then went they just killed off the entire cast what they hell they going do for next season.
This ep diffently made you realize no one was safe. This was hands down one most brutal scenes I've ever seen in TV shows. It was great.
Wow....this is the only one of these reaction videos by a woman that actually understands that breaking a sworn oath has consequences!!
It was the Lannister song that Cat should have recognized as their violence song, when someone plays that song , bad things happen to their enemies!
Crazy how TV and media has such an affect on our behaviors, and our emotions.
"I hate that Frey guy". I couldn't help but laugh. You now know our pain.
I'm here if you need a shoulder to cry on. What an episode hey!
TVandME Thanks Kevin! I got thru the review this time too! There are so many on my shit list now... in the words of "little shit", KILL THEM ALL!!! 😩 (not Tyrion)
Haha, hold on tight for the ride ahead :)
What a great genuine reaction. It's nice to see someone completely unspoiled ... big hugs! I know it doesn't feel like it right now but it gets better my dear. Better and more epic than you can imagine.
You get all of our internet hugs. :(
Dorian Zane I can feel them, thanks 🙂
You have the best reaction to the Red Wedding on RUclips!! you're so genuine!
I said the same thing when it ended! "I hate this show!! I'm not watching it ever again!"
but once you've started GOT you cant depart from it..
Marcusinmilw Thanks! Yeah, she screamed & all I could imagine was it was my kids 😭 She just stood there like she had already died inside.... 😔
But... is she really dead? Read the books! :)
For the most part they do. There are some changes, however, and Catlyn Stark's story is one of them.
I've went through my pain years ago. I won't lie I did have a menacing grin watching you react to this. You're in the Great Game now.
There are two Game of Thrones. Game of Thrones before the Red Wedding and Game of Thrones after the Red Wedding. Fans have to remember that these stories come from a set of very long books. The stories weren't created for tv to quickly appease fans the way most tv shows are done.
Chris Marrs Interesting 😬
Did you know the in the first book the first chapter was Bran POV ending with him pushed by Jaime. That was a choc, first time reading a book with first POV dying (I though he was dead) God it was before year 2000
8 seasons of brutal deaths, and stabbing the woman in the belly where her unborn child is STILL ranks as #1, followed very closely by Princess Shireen being burned alive by Melisandre.
Oh you poor thing! I feel bad for seeing the uploads and immediately getting excited and saying, "Oh f*** yeah!" out loud... ! :)
I know Ned's death gets to people, too... but with that one there was so much build-up and anticipation and you knew that the end result was an option. I think with this, it's so sudden and unexpected and that's why it really gets to everyone the way that it does. That's why we all say you're not a man/woman of winter until this point. :) You have no idea it's going to happen, especially with the guest rights and everything that are so sacred in Westeros.
Jashana C Yeah 😟 Y'all are some little demented friends of mine 🤗
"And who are you, the proud lord said,
that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat,
that's all the truth I know.
In a coat of gold or a coat of red,
a lion still has claws,
And mine are long and sharp, my lord,
as long and sharp as yours.
And so he spoke, and so he spoke,
that Lord of Castamere,
But now the rains weep o'er his hall,
with no one there to hear.
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear."
finally someone who wasnt spoilerd too much by explaining how important the song is.
+Nostalgic Bliss Nvm , wasnt for me
One of the greatest episodes in television history.
