  • Old DBD is often looked at like it is something incredible from old-school players. Today I decided to look back at this time period and talk about just how broken it was and compare it with modern-day DBD.
    Apologies for how I sounded! Have a GIGA-COLD at the moment.

    Another problem that was relatively recent was the Insta-hatch exploit before the days of DC bots. SWFs would snipe a streamer running the Hardcore challenge and bring a hatch offering, then when the killer got down to 2 survivors, one would run to the other end of the map and DC once the killer downed them. The hatch would instantly appear, survivor would escape, and they would post "GIT GUD LOSER!!!" in post-game chat, or anything else to try and anger them.

    Yeah. Definetly with the emblem based matchmaking system where your actions dictated your pips and who you'd match up with. you ended up with more likeminded solo queue teammates and more chill survivors with killer depending on your actions.

    To be honest i prefer the old feel that the game had, the more washed look, it was unique and the dark lighting and fog make it look like a horror game, old survivor movement felt snapy and responsive , my havorite thing that i miss being the old hillbilly chainsaw animations, as well and the use of many soundtracks whom are no longer in use today. Overall great video 👍

    The game is way better nowdays. The only thing i really miss is the old lighting and darker, more foggy aesthetics. The game literally looks worse then it did years ago. Sure, the Textures got better. But everything else in terms of graphics is a huge step backwards.

    Old dbd had a certain mood to it, the levels were more rng to it, and all the dlc that came before felix's update just had a certain grimey vibe to it.
    Everything felt so dirty and looked more unnatural which added to the mood. Now things looks more clean and the grimey darker look it had lost most of it's effect.
    Still like the newer graphics but I think some maps could benefit from being a bit darker at least. Especially you farm, you need the og colors back most of all.

    I see this question a lot and the general anwser is almost always going to be a resounding no.
    What did old DBD do good?
    It actually had a scary atmosphere. That's about it.
    DBD now, despite what many might say, is in the most balanced state its ever been in. Gameplay is pretty fun, there's no true infinites, and nothing is really overpowered anymore.
    The people that like old DBD either enjoyed bullying killers (this is generally what people mean when they say the game used to be more fun even if they don't express it that way), or miss the old aesthetic.

    • @MightyJabroni
      @MightyJabroni День назад

      "there's no true infinites"
      They still exist, but they are not as immediately apparant as they used to be. Dead Dog Saloon still has an infinite (or at least something very close to an infinite).

    • @gorrazin7983
      @gorrazin7983 34 минуты назад

      @@MightyJabroni It's not a true infinite *technically*
      But yeah, it basically is an infinite.
      However, You can break that door at the bottom right of the saloon to stop it but that also makes the individual windows stronger.

  • @MightyJabroni
    @MightyJabroni День назад

    Old DBD was maybe aesthetically more pleasing for Horror fans. But even that was problematic, for on some maps, a bloddied Blendette was straight up invisible in quite a few spots. People need to realize that DBD started as a spooky stealth game, but basically became a game of chase and tag by sheer accident. And as such it has carved out it's niche and is better balanced right now, than it ever has been.
    Though lately, BHVR has leaned into a few bad old habits, like mindlessly stacking gen rush synergies and too much close quater aura reading BS on the killer side. I especially hate the latter because it gives subtle cheaters, who often will use wallhacks, plausible deniability. Aura reading should only be there to find the next chase (BBQ and Chili style) - not to easily win it.

  • @shungokusatsulol

    Depends, if you're a survivor main then no DBD is much worse. DBD is much better now if you're a killer main.

    • @gorrazin7983
      @gorrazin7983 День назад +4

      Honestly it's just an issue of people not doing generators. I swear in half my games someone intentionally dies on hook, quits, hides for over half the match, follows the killer to go for saves of some kind, or does something insane like run to a corner of the map to Self Care for a whole minute.
      So many more of my games would be escapes if people would touch the only objective that survivors have.
      Does anyone else notice this? There's literally no chance that it's just me right?

      @@gorrazin7983 thats because gens are both at the same time, the most important item in the game and the most boring. Before you could take turns to bully the killer and still get gens done. The game has gotten better in recent years, just not in terms of balance.
    Killer is wildly overtuned in terms of movement, the speed at which they do things like gain Bloodlust/break pallets and doors/etc., and perks that give haste/aura reading and now survivors lack general survivability, as in they need certain perks in order to play the game for more than two minutes. Now survivor just feels like playing a glorified punching bag for the killer, but that's okay because four is more than one, screw that one particular survivor just trying to play the game like everybody else.
    Not to mention there are hardly any actual loops on maps anymore. For fuck's sake, one of DBD's most recent "loops" has just been a pallet leaned against a really short wall and a skinny tree. Or a pallet between two rocks, which the killer can just run around until gaining sufficient Bloodlust and just slapping survivors from the other side of the pallet.
    And yes this rant may have been extremely survivor-sided, but I have started playing killer more because of how miserable survivor is right now. It really says something that as killer I can stand still for 30 seconds to pick out a song to jam to while playing the game and still get a 3k. Meanwhile, if I don't listen to sounds as survivor I'll be sent back to the lobby before I can even cleanse a totem.

    Idc what anyone saids TCM is better than DBD. Sure developers almost don’t give a crap about there game and hearing there community but at least the game is loads of fun. DBD most boring gameplay I’ve ever experienced is getting slugged and the worst experience is waiting on an inevitable L after the killer tunneled a player out of the game. Playing killer isn’t all that great either because having to be forced into tunneling or camping to get a decent game is nothing exciting… why do people like this game? Yall like fixing generators for 5+ minutes and rinse and repeat

      What most people enjoy about the game in my opinion is two things, the thrill of chasing and the great amounts of build and killer diversity (when people actually choose to interact with it for a change). While many people do default to meta and cheap tactics more often than not you still experience the core of why the game is fun. Outplaying the other side with wit and cunning.
