Brother, please keep doing what you’re doing. I discovered you just a week ago and your channel is pure nostalgia for me. I’m jealous, but mostly so happy you are able to express your hobby like this. Thanks for all the content and bringing such a rush of childhood memories!!
Thank you for watching! I’m so glad you’re enjoying!
@@anelegantweaponany good hasbro lightsabers for collection and cosplay?
@@Jonah2005 I say the for your own light sabers would be the best but they usually aren’t selling now
Nice seeing someone so passionate about the subject
Hi, there! I wanted to mention that there was exactly one lightsaber in the Star Wars Droids cartoon. It appears in the first episode at about 14 minutes in. Thall Joben has a green lightsaber in his speeder he says he got from a "stranger a long time ago" that he did work for. It is never mentioned again and it is never mentioned why he has it. The wiki page says he got it during the Jedi Purge. It does not really resemble the toy that much. Great video!
You are correct. I’d completely forgotten that Thall had acquired one once. This has been pointed out to me several times, which is awesome because it means you guys really know your stuff. Time for a Droids rewatch!
"General Overview" is my favourite jedi knight.
Really awesome video!! I absolutely love your collection can’t wait to see more videos from you.
I have a soft spot for lightsabers released in 1999-2005. Great video!
My first lightsaber was the 2002 model Obi Wan lightsaber, non electronic. I quickly traded with my brother for the Qui-Gon one though because I liked green more. I will always be the most fond and nostalgic of the Obi Wan lightsaber, fully retractable, from circa 2010 that you needed to pull down the slidey bit to release the blade. I still have that one and the similar but inferior 2012 model in my closet somewhere. I also have a 2015 bladebuilders Luke Skywalker lightsaber that I still use occasionally to this day. Mostly I use the 2 neopixel lightsabers or 3 base-lit lightsabers that I have from Saberforge and Bendu Armory.
What a great breakdown of the toy saber. My first was an 83 The Force red saber. From there I built my own hilts, no electronics. Don't get me started with all the 3D Printed sabers I have made. LOL My first official replica I purchased was the Disney Legacy Vader, my dream saber. I now have their dark saber too along with a bunch of random hilts from various places. My favorite hilt I have is a design my buddy came up with. It is a blend of Luke's (ANH) and Dekards blaster in Blade Runner.
Anyway, what a great channel. Glad I bumped into your shorts. Easy sub here.
Not even a Star wars fan and your videos are absolutely captivating. Please keep doing what you do!
The first toy lightsaber I had was a normal flashlight with cardboard tube (from paper towels) taped to it
Loved this but I feel the post 2002 ones were a little glossed over. Would love to have seen them more in depth.
First! Awesome video !! May the force be with you !
I have a bad feeling about this
I had to look it up but my lightsaber was a 2002 purple bladed Obi Wan one while my brother got a green one. I haven't owned another once since because I'm not really into collecting things. But I know one day when my kid's get old enough I want us to build our own at Disney.
3:19 actually it apeared once, it was used to break a wall but then was never seen again
You are correct, I’d forgotten Thall aquired one. Time for a rewatch!
Gday fellow small youtuber.
Im really glad you're doing this series. I was once starting a toy lightsaber collection but i couldnt keep myself commited to it. I had some interesting ones like the inquisitor blades and some 2002 hasbro ones. Keep collecting mate, I wanna see this empire grow!
I’m in awe of your collection.
That was a wonderful dive into the history. I’ve been binging your lightsaber shorts since you popped up on my feed. Keep up the great work!
Glad you like them! Thank you!
LOVE this longer videos!!
I had the green Luke Skywalker lightsaber from the 90s until my mom and I sold it at a yard sale. Got another as a birthday gift 3 years ago, and I'm not letting that one go.

I love these video so much. Somehow making me excited about these things like I was when I was little!
Glad you’re enjoying!
I recall a lightsaber toy where the colored blade is a foam rod that can be connected to the plastic hilt. I had the Qui-Gon version of that one.
Last night I fell asleep watching your shorts and one of them looped for about 6 hours straight while I was sleeping. Hope that helped in some way. haha
I love the retractable blade ones that you flick to "ignite." I remeber getting some when The Force Awakens hit theaters and I still have my Anakin and Vader ones from the dollar store, there was also Luke's Episode VI saber there but they took it off shelves before I got around to buying it which I'm still kicking myself over.
really cool video man
This was a great saber retrospective!
You should add the Goliath Power Saber (sold in Target stores and on Amazon).
It is a telescoping lightsaber with lights and sound that expands and contracts automatically with a push of a switch, with no manual manipulation needed.
0:57 bro is general Grievous 💀
I miss the lightsabers from my childhood. The 1999- 2010s style with the fully collapsable blades and the red slider button. I still have most of mine (my first two broke after years of near constant abuse). I had nearly every hilt/ color variation, except for most of the Qui-Gon hilts. My local Walmart never seemed to have those. My favorite remains the Anakin/ Luke blue saber. It was my third one. Most kids slept with a stuffed animal, I slept with that lightsaber. In 2008, I thought I had lost it outside, and begged my parents to buy a replacement. We ended up finding my saber behind the couch.
The peak of toy lightsabers for me came in the early 2010s when Hasbro put out new Obi-Wan, Vader and Anakin lightsabers. More accurate hilts (ROTS Kenobi, OT Vader), activation sliders on the activation box, and slightly longer blades. I remember being so excited for a ROTJ Luke saber using a repainted Kenobi hilt. It seemed so obvious! We never got it.
When they did finally make a ROTJ Luke, it was under Bladebuilders. No belt clip, not blade locking mechanism, shorter blade with a weird hole in the tip. I was very disappointed. I love the idea of a lightsaber construction line, but I wish they still offered the simple sabers of old. Heck, put the old styles out under the Vintage Collection with retro packaging. Sorry for the rant, lightsabers are a passion of mine.
Man I really want the first light saber toy
You didn't mention the Force Action Lightsaber 😔 The one that has lights and sounds and could fully retract. It also had a spring that make the blade fully ectend with the push of an interruptor
My first lightsaber was the non electronic collapsible Mace windy light saber from either ROTS or AOTC (Don’t remember how old I was). Wish I still had it. I do still have a blue non electronic on Qui Gon’s hilt I got for Christmas not too long after and I’m so glad I still have it.
We had the Dooku toy lightsaber once, I think we still have it somewhere, and a Vader and blue Vader toy lightsaber from back then, now I have replicas and customs as well :P
Amazing video!

Keep it up bro and please throw some news in like new official Sabers and new sabers in shows/Movies
Will do..
So cool 👏
id love too see a video on those old flick-out sabers they would release for the prequels that would have only 1 hilt but 3 colours, i personally owned the 1999 blue qui-gon saber but i unfortunately lost the end cap lol
I recently made a short about a red Qui- gon one of those, I’ll dive a little deeper next time.
@@anelegantweapon thank you very much!! ill be sure to check out the short too!

You actually missed one here: In 1995 Rubies released their own official lightsaber toy, that narrowly pre-dated Kenner's Luke and Vader models by a couple of years. They were essentially just flashlights (powered by 2 "C" batteries,) with telescoping blades attached, but said blades were the first to use the now-famous "telescoping blade" feature (as far as I can tell.) They extended up to 36", and came in either white or red. They were quickly forgotten/outclassed by Kenner's far more impressive "Luke & Vader" models, but are still noteworthy for being the actual "first new lightsaber toys" of the 1990s. I only know about them mind you, because the white one was my first lightsaber as a kid (it was discarded in favor of the POTF2 models the following Christmas, but I still remember it fondly.)
Also, the "Droids" cartoon did actually feature a lightsaber. It was a brief moment in the first episode if I remember correctly, where one of the main characters pulls it out of his speeder, and explains that: "a mysterious man (implied to have been a Jedi,) paid to have his speeder repaired at their shop, but never returned - leaving the vehicle behind with his weapon still inside it." Said lightsaber is then used to cut open a door, and is never seen nor referenced again.
Could you please do a video focusing more on the rubies and hasbro options in the 2000s? I can not find a forum or video or even an damn Wikipedia article about the different options they had. Im starting a collection of just those as those are the toys I grew up with but you know your stuff so a video from you on that decade would really help inform me.
Your content is so high Quality
Trying my best and just having fun! Thx for watching!
It is not a toy! As a wise old man once said « this weapon is your Life ! »
Amazing vid! I was already aware of the history (or lack there of) of the toy blasters, but never knew much about lightsabers. (Btw I’m hoping to go to Japan sometime, and if I can find a takara lightsaber for a good price, I’ll definitely pick it up, and ship it to u if you get a P.O. Box at some point.)
As a kid I had a couple of the lightsabers shown including both Darth Maul lightsabers. Unfortunately my moms favorite word was "Yard Sale" and she sold both of them along with my Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber, and spring loaded mace windu lightsaber all behind my back without asking. I did later get a Anakin and Obi wan lightsaber and a yoda lightsaber but they were lost when we moved houses. long story short I have not had a good history with toy lightsabers.
Here’s a long shot, but would you know what they used for the Bibleman show? Actually had one of the best lightsaber fights ever. I’m trying to reproduce it but I’m thinking they used a premade toy one as a base.
Love this!!!
Please give us more Videos Like that!
More long form please!
Do you prefer toy sabers rather than the higher priced replicas? Great extensive collection behind you.
Not prefer no. I’ve just been collecting the toys since long before high price replicas existed. And as you say, replicas are much higher priced.
awesome!
I had that Luke saber in the late 90’s. To this day I regret putting micro machine stormtrooper figures into the blade and tearing the whole thing apart trying to get them out.
I'd like to know more about that mace windew lightsaber with the non revenge of the sith hilt behind him on the left close to the middle. I got one when I was young but don't know anything about it.
I would be in debt
These were all slowly accumulated over 40 years.
Is it possible to wield toy lightsabers from nowadays like lightsaber training, or would they break from repeated wielding?
Nice lightsaber
Droids DID have a lightsaber in two episodes - Thal Joben uses a pink bladed one twice to cut through things. Random as he was no Jedi, but it's in there.
In 2002 there was the TOMY star wars super replica ligthsaber, with neon lighting, I think KKKK
You missed one light saber toy line It was the very first build your own lightsaber It came with one White and red blade with colored discs and kyber crystals in fact it looked a lot like a plastic version of savis and you could even have a double blade. Star Wars Build Your Own Ultimate Lightsaber Hasbro Lucasfilm 2005
Hey!Do you have the hasbro 2020s inquisitor lightsaber,if you have.Make a video on it please!❤
On it…
Technically The droids did show a lightsaber in the first episode but that's the only time a lightsaber ever appeared in the series
I still have one of those '96 vader lightsabers. No idea how it got to me because I was born in '04. It's somewhere in my house, i think the blade was broken though.
Yoooo you finally got a neopixel I see!! what a wonderful experience right??
Oh, man. SO crazy.
Does kit fisto's replica lightsaber work underwater like it does in universe tho? Lol
Do you have the forge Inquisitor lightsaber toy
I do…stay tuned.
Do you have the Jedi challenges lightsaber( i know its simply a hilt but still)
This is cool
You’re cool.
I made the hundred like
Interesting
Do you have the mid 80's battery powered electric toothbrush lightsaber?
At least i thing it was a lightsaber hanle.
I don't know if you answer comments, but I've been having bugs with my Force FX Kit Fisto lightsaber, like the one you showed in the video. Does it ever randomly short out on you?
Mine seems to work well, no glitches. A local sabersmith may be able to help you out, could just be a loose wire or connection.
Fantastic video, just two minor things: 1. You didn't mention the Canada exclusive Star Wars utility belts that included a lightsaber & that George Lucas had pulled off of store shelves (Steve Sansweet has one of them), & a lightsaber _did_ make an appearance in the Droids cartoon. Specifically, in the first episode in which we meet Thal Joben, he has a lightsaber that he used _VERY_ briefly.
Aside from those, fantastic video, sir. 👍
I wasn't aware of the utility belts but now that I am I'll be on the hunt for one, and yes I have been corrected about the lightsaber in the droids cartoon, it'd been a long time since I watched it, lol. Thx so much!
Have you ever gone to build your own lightsaber before at Disney?
Not yet, next winter!
@@anelegantweapon That should be fun!
Hello I have a Darth vader lightsaber with no electronics or but a retractable blade like the 1999 sabers on the hilt it said it’s from 2015 but I can’t find any information about it do you maybe know what it is?
Why is Mace Windos lightsaber blue, not purple
Awwe you skipped the 99-05 hasbro thick plastic, Obi-Wan, Luke/anakin/Qui-Gon and dooku, the big red release button and you could really beat each other up with them
May i ask, when and why did you start collecting toy lightsabers? I have been watching your videos for a month now and i need to know
There’s an early vid I made about my origin story, I’ll do a deeper dive soon. I basically got my first one when I was 6 and never looked back. I just love ‘em. I’ve never not gotten excited like a little kid when I see a new one in the store.
@@anelegantweapon thank you so much for the answer, i actually make homemade lightsabers with cardboard, flashlights, and tubes, do you think there are any traits of the lightsaber that are important for making one?
i love my neopixel
Am I seeing things or is this video closed captioned??
I see words on my screen but there's NOT SUPPOSED to be words on my screen
My toy lightsaber is too dark. I wish my darth vader lightsaber forge would be more brighter. Is there a way I can make it brighter??? Please comment on my on my comment and tell me
I happen to own a semi-functional power of the force Luke Skywalker's lightsaber.
E G G Z
If you can get a good blade, it might be nice to start making reproductions of them.
And now we have Neopixels.
