Since a boy,....was impacted by the reality of evil...greed....the issues of morality...the unjustice of the controling powers over other human beings...the story of Roots, by Alex Haley reaveals as many other stories this crude reality...I find that going to the source...finding the roots and origins of history awakens the secibility, the mind...the sences and of course the heart...Here in Hennings, Tennessee I was able to pay my respects to Alex Haley and his relatives.....the Kunta Kinte legacy...They lived never to die....couse they can cut his foot but not...EVER....the dream of FREEDOM...ever....for the...for the awakening of the conciousness....my respects...my sadness...my tears...my unforgattable memories.....Eternal love to our brothers and sisters who were under the cruality of slavery of the body but not of their mind and dreams....Frank Diaz Hennings, TN Nov.10th, 2010

Frank, nice vid. I was there in Sep 2015. I am just not a camera guy. when I was there, I kept looking for that Metal Chicken over George's grave as seen on Roots. I guess, it was only for the mini-series. I was upset at not being allowed to take pictures in the Museum, behind the Palmer home and inside the home itself in Henning. I was also looking for the lumber mill, expecting much more would still be there. It was almost totally gone. I also expected Henning to be a more alive town. I was also hoping to see more of the family members in that cemetery. thank you!

Are any of Chicken George’s other children buried there? Lewis Murray, Virgil Murray, or any of the other siblings? What about Chicken George’s wife Matilda? I would assume she’s buried there too.

qasion when slaves died back in Kunta’s era their graves weren’t marked, when Alex Haley was searching, he only found the area where he was buried, lots of slaves were buried in that area.... unmarked

Yeah, it wasn't like it was in the movie where Kizzy goes back and finds her father's grave and scratches out the name "Toby" and puts in Kunta Kinte's name.
