After I saw you playing at the live recording “graves into gardens” I want to be a bassist !!! Im already taking some lessons, thank you for sharing your talent
Your phrasing on the second verse is absolutely killer! as a guitar player I tend to focus on that instrument which I also like what's happening during the 2nd verse also...but WOW I love your choice of notes for the 2nd verse. Thanks for sharing your talent and giving a guitar player a glimpse into your playing! God bless!
Great work as always Shae, always look forward to these! I did end up pulling the trigger on the JB version of your Precision, if you remember my last comment haha. LOVE that thing, can see why you spoke so highly of it!
Thanks for taking the time to say that! That is very kind! I tuned the whole bass down half a step. Usually half of our sets I am tuned down a 1/2 step. Lots of people play this song with only the E string tuned down though!
Hi Sir ( @shaewooten , your bass playing deserves a shared name with Victor ) , I started playing bass as an older guy, to fill the need at church. I've been dedicated and have learned so much from you. I try to learn your songs exactly like you play them. We started a song writing group at our church, The Rock Church, Peoria, AZ Campus. When I write original bass lines, I'm heavily influenced by you. TY!! Because I'm new to bass and learning, I have lots of questions, and I'm curious about the tuning so I might learn a better perspective... Thank you for everything, I wish I could run some of the stuff I've written by you. I hope you get to hear one of ours one day. It will have probably been influenced you you Sir...
Hi Shae! Just listened to Elevations most recent rendition of There is a King - SO amazing! I was wondering, what's the lick you do at the very end when you slide up? Thanks so much!
Hey brother Shae, we're doing this song for the first time this Sunday, wish I had your skill.....🙌 Anyway, just wondering what the purpose is for tuning a half-step down? Thanks & God bless
(also i would like to know where to get the 5 string) A video about the 5 string whould be great, talking about what its made of, active or passive, neck wood, ect. Also I wathed you play in Atlanta at elevation nights, yall did great!
For this song only the Eb string is tuned down half a step. Generally they will do this so they can reach the extra low Eb. It's not something they do too often.

It sounds so clean. The perfect balance between simplicity and peculiarity. Elegant!
Thanks Pillepup!

That really humbles me. Thanks for sharing! Best of luck!
Mr Shae Wooten....you killed it on "Before and After" featuring Amanda Lindsey Cook, and that leopard/cheetah jacket was 🔥!
I gonna see a victory! Amen, Elevation Worship are the best group!
We play this song all the time at church. Bass lines are key in this song! Love it dude!
Thanks Eric!
That’s right sir! You tell them how it’s done. Nothing like being dynamic on bass for ccm.
A blessing to hear you play man! 🙌🏻🎸

Great Shae, bless up
do you tune it Eb, A, D, G?
Thank you Shae! I've learned to be a much more tasteful, thoughtful bass player because of you man. Thankful!
Thanks for taking the time to say that! That is very kind!

Ahhh, that makes it easier to play then for sure. I’ve been trying to play with just the Eb and I mess up my patterns
@@jmanthirtyseven I am afraid to tune down for fear of messing up...

Love your bass lines. Would you have any advice for newbies on creating bass lines? I just got on a worship team in Spartanburg SC. Thanks!!
Hi Shae! Just listened to Elevations most recent rendition of There is a King - SO amazing! I was wondering, what's the lick you do at the very end when you slide up? Thanks so much!
Basically chording a 1/3 and sliding it to a 5. Then chording 4, 5 into the chorus!
Shae what picks do you use? Also enjoyed watching the bass gear video this evening.
Thanks Ryan!
I always blank on the actual size. 🤦🏻♂️. D’Adarrio blue and green. Sometimes a nickel. 🤷🏻♂️. Seriously.

Did you actually use a pick when you played this song in a live performance?
Ow can you teach me how
What strings do you normally use shae ?
He said somewhere else he uses Dadario nickel, 105-45
D'adarrio 45-105!
@@jackkovar7806 Yes!
Bass go boOo0m
I just want to ask you, are all your strings usually tune half step down? Only only for this song?
For this song only the Eb string is tuned down half a step. Generally they will do this so they can reach the extra low Eb. It's not something they do too often.
Noice bass geetar
Thanks Timothy!
what key did you play on
Bb
As a drummer, I could not use a snare tone as a click, it would drive me nuts
Apparently I get mistaken for you all the time lol.. brother from another mother
