You guys really have an eye for design and make some of the best looking games around. I'm loving moonrakers and I can't wait to get into this one too!
That was an impressively clear explanation of the game. I was already interested and this cleared up any rule questsion I had from watching the playthrough, so count me in!
I am just putting it out there that IV Studios have some of the BEST board games out there to date. Moonrakers is awesome, Veiled Fate looks wonderful, and Mythic Mischief looks amazing also. All of their games have beautiful design, excellent game play and mechanics, and are an overall hit at our game nights. Thank you IV Studios for doing it right!!!
Damn this really looks interesting. To have turned that light social deduction party game theme into a strategic/tactical board game with real depth is sure worth a tip of the hat. =)
Perfectly explained, beautifully shot and lovely set dec! Meets the design benchmark you've set with the game, and THIS is so so important when it comes to KS. Well done guys!
Just got my game yesterday and it is AWESOME! Thanks so much for putting this out! Lots of fun gameplay to be had here! However, during the first "dry run" of the game, we came up with a question: we started Age II and drew the City card "Call for Heroes". At the time, there were 7 Demis already in the City and included a set of three. So, should the City card action of sets of 3 gaining Renown occur immediately upon reading the City card or must there be another movement action of a Demi into the City?
Woh - this has to be THE best looking 'How To Play' vid out there! What did you shoot it on? It looks so crisp! 👌🏼Lighting is on point too and I really like the 'colorama in location' vibe. Excited to finally play my copy of VF tonight! A
Just got this beautiful game, excellent how to play video! Only request is can this video not be demonitized? I'm not watching it for entrtainment, kind of takes you out of the teach when we stop for an advert or two.
This seems very interesting, and great idea to add a layer of strategy to the otherwise pretty simplistic offer of other social deduction games. It obviously reminds me of War of Whispers, and a bit of Lords of Waterdeep (the hidden roles I guess). Only issue I can see, without having played the game, is that gameplay could be a bit limited because you only care about one god (there is only one way to score points basically). So the play styles could be either: take actions to advantage your demi-god, or play to simply mislead other players doing things that are not good for your demi-god. Would have been good to have a starting primary god, and then one or two secondary which still give you points (maybe half points) depending on the end state. That could turn the tables and allow you to win even if not in the lead, and open up for more varied paths to victory.
@@zacwdixon All good, its good to know you guys are taking feedback or atleast reading the replies for things like this. You got my support, hope the game is good!
The only rule I don't understand is Resting: If a player plays no actions, run out of Fate cards or gain/spend a Fate card on their turn they must Rest. However, it is mentioned that the player must rest until the next Age. Lets say a player HAS to rest in Age 1, does that mean the player that rests does not have a turn/play until Age 2 begins? Also, its said during a player's turn, they can either Move a Demi, Use a God Power or Rest. If a player chooses to Rest, do they not have a turn until the next Age or until their next turn in the same Age? Backed the Kickstarter and I'm excited to add this game into my collection :)
Hey Anthony, Yes if a player Rests, they do not have a turn until the next Age, though they can vote on the Age card if they still have cards. You can also "pass" your turn if you only want to take 1 of your 2 actions, this would not be considered a Rest and you would still get another turn in the age if there were still Quests. Hope this helps, thanks for backing!
Love and backed the game 👏🏻 a quick question: what could be the purpose for placing a demi on one of the empty locations? Maybe I missed that Information, but need to be sure.
It's rare that you would move one to an empty location, but sometimes it can be a solid defensive play, moving a demi away from a quest that you think someone might want to put it on. There are also Age cards that have different effects for different locations on the board.
You draw them a few different ways - At the start of an age, after being chosen to vote on a Quest after it's completed, When moving a Demi from the Abyss to the pools, and when covering the +1 card icon when moving a Demi back to the city.
Ok so on your turn you have 2 actions. Is it 1st action: move a demi god, then 2nd action: use a god power? OR Can you do 1st action: move demi god, then 2nd action: move another or same demi god? (If you didnt move that first demi god to a quest) Looking forward to a response!
I'm confused about Fate card draw. It feels like there are almost no ways to put cards in your hand, except for city cards and moving from abyss. Yet a central part of the game, quests, sucks your hand dry rather quickly. I'm not sure how you can realistically engage in play while ensuring your hand stays full.
Hey Benjamin, Each Age most players end with 0-3 cards in their hands, so it's not common to keep your hand full and card management is a big part of the game. You do draw 5 more cards at the start of each Age though, not sure if that answers your question!

I find it quite weird that the description doesn't have a link to the Kickstarter campaign. It should be the very first thing there.
As a massive fan of Moonrakers (getting my expansions today), this looks amazing
People tell us it's very fun.
Rewatching this video in anticipation of my wooden board finally shipping :)
Looks great! Can you all put up a link to that setup video? I don't see it in the video list
I’m glad I am not the only one that can’t find it!

Just got my game gonna teach my kids.
i think a Discworld themed version of this would also work ...
amazing idea.
You say there is a "How to setup Veiled Fate" video, but I can' find it. Is it released yet or am I just being blind?
Yeah me either, I don't think it exists rn.
sorry, not released yet! we were hoping to get to it, but didn't have time in the mix of launching the campaign. We won't forget about it thought :)

@@zacwdixon that’s amazing, thank you. Didn’t expect so much depth just by moving the standee. Thanks again!
Mind games with the other players would be my first answer. ;)
Man I want this game, and the metal miniatures... But those are sold out. :(
Campaign launching tomorrow!
Subtle Speedmaster flex.
😏
When do you draw fate cards? Only at the beginning of an age?
