  • Dragonflies are a colorful and distinctive feature of fresh water habitats. While many of us think of the colorful acrobatic aerial hunter, this is only a small part of a dragonfly's life-cycle. This film charts the dragonfly's life story and highlights some of the surprising adaptations adopted by different species.
The film has won best Documentary at the BIAFF Festival and has been nominated for a Panda award at the Wildscreen Festival.

What a terrific film. I thought it looked like Staffordshire before I saw the credits (though I had mis-identified the specific locations).

Very cool. I found a male green darmer with a broken wing in a parking lot. He was alive but barely. Felt sad about it and it led me to learning about them. Thank you for the video

Dragonfly 0901am 16.10.23 this is odd - i was told 5 years.... now 2-3 years for the life cycle of the dragonfly water nymph. originally told it was 25 years regards the life cycle of a drangonfly nymph... ummmmmmmmm...... do you think these guys know what they're a talking about or are they just perpetually pish takers masking as erudite scientific boffs?

That said, I have one criticism... 'Mars' in the music credits at the end has been omitted! - it is @3:03 😉

This was awesome! I came looking to find the dragonfly season from egg to flight and you delivered. In central Texas, I built a long fall and stream in my frontyard that attracted Dragon and Damselflies. My favorite is called a neon skimmer. I got to watch the whole mating process to territorial guarding just as you described. My main question was when is it safe (season)to clean the stream, which should be done every few years, without affecting the nymphs. According to your film, that’s never because they live on water a few years before emerging, which means there are generations of nymphs in the water😕 Looks like I need another plan. Learned so much with this film. Thank you again!

The military drama tv series "The Unit' brought me here. I always thought the call sign "Snake Doctor" (used by one of the characters in the show) was very cool. My Google search indicates that "snake doctor" refers to dragonflies. 😜

Dragonfly 0900am 16.10.23 rather than sit around saying how amazing you all are.... merely enjoying the world of such things as the dragonfly kindda cancels all that garbage out.
