Me, I can drink gin from now ’til kingdom-come (I’m partial to a Gordon’s, for my sins) but I’m not out here trying to be hypocritical about these things at the expense of other people’s livelihoods. That wouldn’t be fair or rational.
We should legalise for sure, we’d have new job opportunities, have another stream for tax revenue, police will be able to focus on other pressing issues, tourism opportunities, etc...I really could go on
But for me, the main reason I want it legalised is because I don’t wanna hang around waiting for my dealer who said he’d be here in 5 minutes...30 minutes ago
I think it should be a contained system, ie the tax all goes specifically to drug treatment and treating addiction which will help increase workforce through treating addiction and other medical needs, and excess police funding for policing cannabis can go to that and the NHS. The research funds itself.

In the 70's when my friends and I spent an inordinate amount of time smokin the blunt, we would have some fun conversations. I am now 57 and we reached a consensus that it would be legalized by the time we were 50 mainly based on the fact that virtually everyone we knew smoked it and someone who was our age at the time would be in Government and have the power to effect that change in legislation!!!. That was the winning hypothesis. Lo and behold, we were off by 4 years here in Canada as it was legalized 3 years ago. We were all in the same grade and 15-16 or so.. So you had a bunch of stoners Who came that close. Some of us are proud of that. I am.

Wrong. The reason weed is illegal, is because minorities use it and independent thinkers use it. Richard Nixon did not like that. Pretending that weed was a harmful drug was very convenient for getting rid of the people he did not like.
Legalisation in the UK (and globally) looks imminent now - it will be a part of our new normal. One of the many silver linings to grace our new world.

Government have a duty of care for the well being of all UK residents. IMO they are criminally negligent with their stance on Cannabis and mushrooms despite billions being wasted on the NHS and the legal system dealing with the unspoken criminal violence and long term physical and mental health effects of alcohol. No one speaks of alcohol and mental health.....no no that's the fault of cannabis.
I brew alcohol. If you really wanted you could brew sugar wine for 20p/bottle with a % of ~18% alcohol. They haven't stopped my brewing just because they cant tax it... Unless they expand the sugar tax xD. I generally use real fruit and it can work about anywhere from £1-£3/bottle at 12-18% depending on what I'm making. Currently got some mead on the go that should finish around 13.5%.

If you drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes you have no moral excuse to be against cannabis. As for the law, funny how you can legally by alcohol and cigarettes at the supermarket even though the are proven without doubt to be harmful and the government are quite happy to allow it as long as they can gain tax from it once again giving the no moral argument. The problem for the government being if they tax cannabis the way they tax alcohol and cigarettes people will continue to obtain the way they do now.

Decriminalised and eventually legalised across the board recreationally. Legalised for medical purposes (and sold in conjunction with the likes of c.b.d. and c.b.n.) with absolute-immediate effect. Immediate.
There's a huge difference making drugs illegal and getting rid of them completely. Addicts need help not prison where drugs are even more readily available

If you want so grow you should be qualified or maybe get a fine if your not. Make it legal and safe.. the problem is caused by the criminal process. It hurts people. It's hurt me. I'm medical patient in the UK and I can't afford a prescription. Leaves no choice but to buy it and do my own quality checks

I fail to see how alcohol can pacify like that. I do like my drink but if it had to be one or the other on a collective scale I’d feel safer living in a city of green bakers than piss-heads. It doesn’t take much for heavily-drunk males to get violent and that just isn’t something that’s a risk with cannabis.

Cannabis is legal where I live in Illinois. No big deal. One thing: I don't know if this person was referring to people from India who smoked opium in their "peace pipes" but I hope he was not referring to Native people from North America. I'm Lakota and enrolled at Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. My grandfather was a medicine person and had a pipe. He absolutely did not smoke opium. What is smoked in pipes is called canli and it's roots and leaves. In modern times, tobacco is also included but it was never opium. Please don't spread ignorance.
