Thank you. This was very helpful! I guess I will come back to this video when I've learned to play the first pattern to learn the second one. This is awesome. At first I thought "Nah, That doesn't sound like country" But as you played it at full speed, it sounded so much like a banjo. Great! 😍
Great picking patterns. Hadn’t seen them before. They really sound great. I was trying to turn them to 3/4. Haven’t got that to sound right yet. Maybe you have a good 3/4 picking pattern you would like to share in the future. I only found you tonight. I am glad I found you. Thank you.
Many thanks! I'm looking for a country strumming method. When I sing, accompanying myself on the ukulele, on country and bluegrass themes, I'd like to find ways of strumming the ukulele that are suited to the piece I'm playing. Have you created a method based on this idea, or do you know of one, please?
I love both patterns. What is an example of a song you would use the 2nd pattern to play? With the 2nd pattern, would you alternate the two patterns when changing chords?
Any country style song. Off the top of my head. Your cheating heart. And yes. The aim is to develop independence from the thumb bass and the melody fingers. So you can play the melody and bass keeps steady throughout
I'm having so much trouble understanding the 1 and the 2 on the strum pattern. I try to watch your hand and the pattern at the same time but I can't understand the numbers
Typo! Your chart is incorrect. It does not reflect what you are doing. It should be the 1st finger on the 2nd string (E) and the 2nd finger on the 1st string (A). Otherwise, great video and patterns. Thank you very much! Judy
You give lovely slow tuition before speeding it up. One of the clearest directives I have experienced.
Thanks, Cindy. That is such a great comment. All the best to you. Stay Tuned!!!
Just found this this morning, so I’m just starting to learn it. It’s so much fun! It’s so beautiful! Thank you!
Thank you Alice. Great to know this video has helped you learn.
Too much good
Literally just explained claw hammer style for banjo and travis picking. All of this will work for the tenor/Irish 4 string banjo. Same tuning
This is so helpful, I've been stuck playing the same patterns and wanted to learn something new!
Glad it was helpful!
One of the most useful tutorials I've seen in a long time - thanks!!!!!
Thanks Chris glad to help.
thanks alot. it's a very nice patten for d-d-dudu. and that pinch really makes it very interesting.

Amazing!! Thank you!

Back at ya. Thanks
Thank you, great fun. I joined as an Avid Learner but the link above does not take me to the printed picking patterns. Best wishes
Thank you! Love this pattern - can you suggest a few songs I could use it with?
Take Me Home Country Roads, Joline, The Gambler...
I like the second style , I’ve been practicing the first style for about 3 days,
When you actually played the it how many bpm were you at do you think
Take it slow then work your way up. I haven’t clocked myself.
There’s a charming little song at the end of the video about the swirl of the sun. How may I get the lyrics for that, please?

I'm having so much trouble understanding the 1 and the 2 on the strum pattern. I try to watch your hand and the pattern at the same time but I can't understand the numbers
The numbers are beats. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. Does that help?
Question…regarding the second pattern. Can the first measure be used as a country picking pattern without adding the second measure?
You bet Lynda.
Isn't it bad if the thumb of the left hand is visible? I was told that I need to always keep it on the back of the neck.
Yes... not the best habit and hard to break.

yep you're right! I may go and fix this one day. I don't like mistakes getting out there.
@@ukemullumis it still wrong? I’m confused. What chord are you playing for the second pattern?
@@MrPhillip2 I'm playing a c Chord. The intonation is a bit out on that ukulele. It might sound a bit out of tune.
