The only real way to run surrak is to run half bears and half cards of people punching something so you can make surrak punch as many bears as possible. Flavor win, and normal win because bear punching is cedh level of good.
That one cedh player and magic nerd: That's ridiculous, you would struggle to beat even my worst cedh deck which uses "insert bs combo I don't give no effs about here" Others: ruclips.net/video/uT17W8CmX4g/видео.html
Ah my first Commander. Surrak Bear-Puncher, Lord of Bear Force One. Took it apart but I'm tempted to put him back together seeing this...WITH EVEN MORE BEARS
Richard Nixon it is one of my favorites. He used it once or twice before the chair tribal video, and has used it multiple times since. I suspect he hadn’t fully recognized the quality of the card in EDH before then.
Surrak was the very first commander deck I build 5 years ago. It's the only deck I could never dismantle but only upgrade and make truely personal. Surrak has become my definitive pet card and bro So from the bottom of my heart thank you Mitch for honoring him, it means a lot to me :)
I just did a price check for the EU, was able to get the whole deck including all 100 cards at light played condition or better for ~40 euro's, prices might vary due to shipping or availability.
Surrak Dragonclaw was my very first attempt at a Commander deck back when I first started playing around Fate Reforged and has been the one deck I've tried rebuilding, but could never figure out how to do so. Now thanks to this wonderful decklist, I have a strong basis to work with and make upgrades on. So thank you, Mitch, for creating this list. It's really what I needed. Sincerely, a MTG player who had thrown Ornithopter in his Surrak deck when he first started playing in 2014
Surrak got some great cards this year as well! I'm so stoked on this deck! Cards like Quartzwood crasher, Proud Wildbonder, Gemrazer, and Koglan, the Titan Ape are almost "auto includes" Most excited for Proud Wildbonder tho
Because of this lockdown, I've built a total of 4 commander decks thanks to this channel (just by rummaging through my stash). Now this is an even more tempting build because I stuck with Temur when it was in standard despite everyone going for abzan. How can I not have more than a third of the cards mentioned in your list? Seems like 4 becomes 5 tomorrow... 😁
Surrak is MY commander. Like I always finish the night with Surrak, my deck actually has a dragon theme to it. He is my favorite commander of all time love the deck tech
This was the second Commander I built and to this day I LOVE IT TO DEATH! Temur it's the most fun 3-color combination in my opinion. It has big monsters, interaction, explosiveness, room for combo, room for aggro, room for control...
I would change the "Channeler initiate" for a "Vigor", and try to keep yasova in the deck. :) And i wish not living in Argentina to get easyer shipping :´(
I had Surrak proxied (reasonably) for a year or so, but somehow I never came to actually buy all the cards, probably because it still was pretty expensive, so thanks for the deck tech, I trust that it will run smoothly :). Surrak is really fun to play and the Temur colors are just a perfect fit here - you basically do what Grull does the best, but you have that protection and control of blue available, and that flash and countering on Surrak encompasses that idea so well
I tried creating a Temur Energy Proliferating deck. destroys absolutely everything so far. get energy counters, create a bunch more energy counters, use all of them, attack, repeat.
Aw yeah, this is the first commander I built around when I got back to magic after some 25 years gone. I am going to rebuild him now and looking for inspiration. The way I built it first sure wasn't 50 usd top though and it won't be that this time either. Since he is creature based ill try to have as many creatures as possible with sweet effects!
I had a card I never thought I'd use anywhere but then I made my Surrak EDH deck. It's name is Predatory Focus. I also think Goreclaw is a must have in this deck.
I built this deck. It can straight up do 40 damage out of nowhere, fairly often. It's a fun little build. I'm probably going to upgrade mana base and keep the rest as is.
No Primal Forcemage? 2G Elf Shaman Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, that creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn. 2/2 I feel this and Ogre Battledriver would combo well together.
on top of what you already took out, I took out Frilled Mystic, End-raze forerunners, keeper of the keys, Aetherwind basker (which I might put back in), Decimator of the provinces, Thryx, the sudden storm, Dragon throne of tarkir (great card, but all your big creatures want to attack and shackling one of them to the ground to buff the others is a shame), Growth from the Ashes and Mystic snake. those are replaced by the following: Craterhoof behemoth, because I own one, so it's no brainer upgrade, Finale of Devastation, because I prefer spells that do things instead of creature etb and I already own one, Tooth & nail, because this wins us the game and again, because I own one. Deadeye navigator & Peregrine drake, these 2 give you unlimited mana, you fetch them both with tooth & nail. and guess what? I own those too. Counterspell & Narset's reversal, because straight up counterspells are better than counterspells on a body for more mana, Frilled mystic is a vanilla 2/2 after you countered the spell, it's not worth it, mystic snake is the same, so those 2 are replaced by those, Grow from the Ashes is replaced by Kodama's reach because its better and finally emerald medallion because most of the spells (half to be exact) are green, so it's a great cost reducer that is harder to remove than Thryx, which does the same, just on a body. the upside with him is that he is a big creature and reduces all spells by 1, but half of the spells in the deck are green and I feel the medallion is better, I might be wrong. I did these upgrades because I already own all but the medallion. the deck cost went up with about 100 $, so if you don't have the money, you don't need to do this. I'm sure the upgraded version of this deck is fine just the way it is and its only 70 $ while mine is 175 and this is only for the spells, I haven't started on the manabase yet.
He's good, but the haste and the value you get from Ascendancy are just on another level. But I'm biased since it's probably one of my most favourite cards xD
I can't speak for Mitch, but I know he's said in his podcast a few times that he's not a fan of planeswalkers as commanders - it might extend to not liking them in decks either.
@@chrisgasper3876 Planeswalkers dont tend to be very good in commander outside of dedicated superfriends decks. They just Paint a Target on themself and insentivise 3 Players to attack you
"I play a planeswalker" "Wow that is a threat let's attack it" "Wait hol up" Or "I play a planeswalker" "Yea that does not affect me" **sadness noise**
I like this guy in my Animar deck alongside the WotS Viven. Flash creatures at a reduced cost that cant be countered 😍🤪 Let us not forget that trample on Animar is a huge plus 🤣
I definitely want to make a temur deck now especially with ikoria cards. I hate how "Tee-mer" sounds though is that official? I always thought it was like"Teh-muer"
Stonebrow, Korsan Hero ? I have been building a Yasova deck with more or less the same theme He is maybe not the best with just surrak but add in the original nylea and you have a winner
I almost used him for my hydra tribal deck. I decided to wait a couple days before ordering anything just to be sure it’s what I wanted. Then they announced Zaxara. Sorry, bear-puncher, it wasn’t your time
Llanowar Tribe got to have it for this deck... How about doing some "unreasonable" upgrades for this deck $$$ for the big spenders. love the content keep it up man!
I built something similar to this with my Surrak.. but I had the misfortune of playing in a group with a dude using child of alara and other unspeakable costly cards.. stopped playing with the guy.
I want to see Surrak Vanilla tribal. Though, I feel like Muraganda Petroglyphs is a trap card in that strategy, since Surrak gives those creatures an ability. I think a better option is an equipment package with Dalakos(Surrak at the helm for green ramp and uncounterable), sculpting various creatures depending on the boardstate.
Wow. I find this commander and think “I wanna build around this guy.” I build something then right when I’m about to go to bed.. I find this video. 😂😂 I had the same kind of idea but I did it differently.
2:06 First off there's Wayfarer's Bauble.
Thank you. This allows us to easy skip the junk at the beginning of each video.

surrak tragic figure
“See that bear? Punched.”
And then let’s add crater hoof behemoth by taking out 80% of the deck
who needs creatures. Just ramp and The Hoof
Or triumph of the hordes (except slightly less expensive)
Ah my first Commander.
Surrak Bear-Puncher, Lord of Bear Force One.
Took it apart but I'm tempted to put him back together seeing this...WITH EVEN MORE BEARS
Holy crap I randomly started to build Surrak yesterday out of quarantine boredom!! This deck tech is awesome, thanks for the inspiration Mitch!
Same a few days ago
I have noticed an increasing frequency of the dragon throne lately.
Gorm Old it’s a very solid budget card with
Richard Nixon it is one of my favorites. He used it once or twice before the chair tribal video, and has used it multiple times since. I suspect he hadn’t fully recognized the quality of the card in EDH before then.
Of course, it's a fantastic budget card
I just realized you're saying "Golden Pig" and not "Golden Pick". I've been a subscriber for like a year now.
These videos help me cope during this long quarantine and I thank you for that. Love your content, Mitch ^^

I'm planning to build my first edh deck using Surrak as my commander! Thanks for the video bro! 😁
I see you are also a man of culture - he was one my first too!
Yeah he’s my favorite timmy commander, and I’m planning on building a flash stompy deck with him
Kahns of tarkir was my first ever set and to this day my favorite color combo is temur.

Shaman of the Great Hunt is an all-star in Temur, and I'm glad he never really went up in price. When I got him he was 25¢
Because of this lockdown, I've built a total of 4 commander decks thanks to this channel (just by rummaging through my stash). Now this is an even more tempting build because I stuck with Temur when it was in standard despite everyone going for abzan.

By the way, why isn't savage knuckleblade included?

Yeahhhh, got surrak at my lgs for 0,50 € because i liked him. Now I'm gonna use him too

This is the first edh deck I built on my own.
I was waiting for this commander tech deck! Thank you so much :)
Surrak punch many bears! Like, all the bears! See that bear? Punched!
Unstoppable I made this with a deathtouch tribal theme... Deathtouch plus trample is so crazy good. The deck is pretty awesome
Temur is best color!

Something I have noticed. You barely use planeswalkers, even though there are some decent budget ones. Why is that?
I can't speak for Mitch, but I know he's said in his podcast a few times that he's not a fan of planeswalkers as commanders - it might extend to not liking them in decks either.
So Mitch just doesn't use planes walkers??. Isn't that like... ignoring a piece of the game?!...not very optimized.... would you say?!.

Have you noticed a difference in the cart optimizer? When tcgdirect shut down, the optimizer got a lot worse causing a huge jump in shipping.
Nice. You have some nice things I’ll add into my own Surrak Deck
Surrak is a good commander
I’ve been meaning to build a Surrak deck since he came out. He’s nifty.
Finally a commander I can relate to
Destiny spinner seems like a good fit with all the enchantments and creature. Funny i was just looking at temur commanders lol
I like this guy in my Animar deck alongside the WotS Viven. Flash creatures at a reduced cost that cant be countered 😍🤪

I hate how "Tee-mer" sounds though is that official? I always thought it was like"Teh-muer"
Hey Mitch, love your videos. I just wanted to see if you have plans to do a $100 deck tech next for this deck?
Can you make a sevinne, the chronoclasm deck?
Stonebrow, Korsan Hero ? I have been building a Yasova deck with more or less the same theme
He is maybe not the best with just surrak but add in the original nylea and you have a winner
Hey Mitch why do you prefer Gruul Ragebeast over Ulvenwald Tracker?
Probably more repeatable in a turn than a tap-based fight.
I can't believe Mob Rule is still under a dollar. Unrrated card!
I’m all about this simply because it’s Temur...Intet approves 👍
You been saving these up, ain't you, Mitch?
Damn, aggressive af deck, beautiful.
I’m going to use this deck for the new Illuna apex of wishes deck
Spearbreaker Behemoth would be a decent upgrade option.
Temur is very fun
2 away from 100! Been here since Nezahal.
hey Mitch, make for us a budget Jolrael from m21!
Love this color combination but I just bought your per and toothy deck
Definitely building this deck
Can you do one for Urabrask, the Hidden.
Say... Have you guys made a Sevinne deck yet?
what about the new trample tribal cards? They would be insane in this deck.
Surprised primordial sage didnt make the cut.
LOVE YOUR CONTENT!
I am guessing you didn't want to use any of the new cards because of the prices going to fluctuate a lot at the moment
make a varina zombie commander deck or mutate sultai commander deck
