Hi, I was dedicated when I was a baby but have no idea what this means? Both my parents are no longer here so haven't got them to ask, will there be a record of this kept if I know the church? Allison, My wife and I accepted Christ as our personal Lord and Savior a little later in life, 28 years old, and being in the military we moved a couple of times before we knew about baby dedications. When we learned what it was our daughters were a little older 7-9. However, we talked to our pastor and explained that we had never had the opportunity to do it and that we still wanted to dedicate them to the Lord he happily obliged. Now, as a pastor myself, I am so thankful we did it. Both my girls are married and serving the Lord and next month I get the honor of dedicating my first grandchild to the Lord.

Where baby dedications are awkward, infant baptism is scriptural. Try and find scripture supporting baby dedication. RUclips search “R.C. Sproul and infant baptism” and find the Biblical way to love your child.

Circumcision was done on the 8th day or when someone converted to Judaism. The Bible also does not record an account of a woman being baptized. However, I have seen one in person.
Paul you have never read the book of Acts then. There is no scripture reference to women being baptized. I am guessing you believe in that too. (Not saying that it is a sin just that there is no Biblical reference.) It is not to save the infant it is the circumcision of the heart not the flesh.
So Christians got it wrong for 1600 years. I can't get why a group of people who are against infant baptism have the same exact ceremony expect for one thing the baptism. So if you believe that a choice is involved as part of a doctrine then the dedication service is wrong as well.

You don’t dedicate your child to the church but to God, that’s His instruction.
