Now that you've heard the song Broken Machine, and the repeating lyric "I'm just a broken machine" you can appreciate Keeping You Around from DCC and the lyric "I'm still a broken machine, babe" 😭
A lot of this album’s concept is based around Conor (lead vocalist) and the band member’s struggles with mental health/alcohol etc from touring and not being able to take care of themselves during that period of their early touring life. A big self reflection album! But a great listen
Particles has like always been my all time fav song by NBT because it’s so beautifully gut wrenching i will never get over it. rips out my heart and sends chills through my body every time
Bro has been feeding us endlessly with these reactions. not complaining tho this is the best thing ever. This album is so amazing and i love the production. Every song has this theme of being defective/ a broken machine (no pun intended) and they add these mechanical sounds and its just brilliant. Number 13 is the sexiest song ever. Glad you're enjoying the music. My favorite thing is their live performances. Conor's voice is just chef's kiss 👌
Hey man, I know you listened to moral panic but did you know there’s a moral panic 2??? It’s only five songs long but it’s some of their best work ever and that is saying something. They also have another 5 song EP ‘what did you think when you made me this way’ which I would hugely recommend too!!
I love the metaphor of putting on your own oxygen mask first before dealing with the others for the mental issues. Your own health should be a priority
Broken Machine (the song) had me in a chokehold for a solid year, so it's interesting to hear you say it's your least favourite! I love how different it is to the other songs on the album.
Same! It probably helps that I found it when I was really depressed and it made me feel seen in a way. It didn't feel soul sucking but more like it gave me life back then
I'd love to see you react to an album called 'Attack Of The Grey Lantern' by Mansun. Although I don't think I've ever heard NBT talk about them being any sort of influence, I hear it in some of the sounds they use. Also, the vocalist was my favourite growing up, that is until I heard Conor Mason for the first time.
Love your reviews. My order would be 1. DCC 2. Broken Machine 3. Moral Panic 4. NBT But really, who am I kidding, you can put them in any order you want they’re still going to change your life!
This a killer album, but that's to be expected from this band at this point. Moral Panic is probably my favorite of their albums, although Dead Club City may very well overtakeit, but it's too early to tell. This album took some getting used to for me. It took me a while to digest "I Was Just a Kid" as an opener, but it's now one of my favorites, with "Welcome to the DCC" at the top (and maybe "Futerproof"). "Afterline" have some of my favorite lines deliveries from Conor Mason in the way he sings "Oh God, I don't think I could do two". It's so different, yet equally expressive every single time. If I had tenth of that vocal ability, I would be a very, very happy man. Oh, and the album cover is my phone background. It's a beautiful cover.
This is literally like clips of all the best bits of the album and we get to see our own first impression/emotions in your reactions. I'm reliving this album all over again. My favourite "alt rock" band ;) Such a refreshing band, so different to anything out there.
My dude!!!! Reset me is soooo underrated! Loved the reaction; how could you hear that dissonant breakdown in Im not Made By Design and say “so sad” , you mean so heavy 😅 I never realized how draining this whole album is, but it is. I dont think ive ever been able to listen to the entire thing in one sitting.
Thank you for more Nothing but Thieves, Ben! It's always an experience to watch other people react to one of my favorite bands and your reactions are always so fun.
thank you so much for these reactions, it’s so nice to see reactions which connect so deeply to their music and try to understand so thank you and I think your feeling of how “niche” but “cool” this album is comes from just how strong the sentiments of these songs are. Broken Machine definitely carries some of their most provocative and cruelest subjects in terms of people and their personal struggles, I think that’s why it feels niche not because the sound is something completely new, but because the songs feel so perfect and relatable when you connect and understand with them which is further enhanced by the amazing, appropriate instrumentals. it’s easy to overlook how often the rhythms and the structures of the instrumentation of each song on this album can literally reflect across the same messages as the lyrics; the repetitive, stubborn chords on amsterdamn being an example which for me kinda reflects the irritability and constant resistance against conforming. loving your reactions, thank you so much
I first found the band when their self titled and Broken Machine were out and I was in high school and depressed. BM definitely changed my life and they became a favorite band of mine because of it. I love how it talks about the personal struggles people deal with!
Broken Machine is such a masterpiece, it was my all time favourite album but I think it’s just been beaten by DCC. There’s some of my favourites on there, Get Better, Hell, Yeah and Number 13. Ha - just got to the bit where you weren’t keen on Get Better! I just love the vocals on that one, they’re gorgeous!
Hey Ben, thank you so much for doing these albums! If you're interested in more NBT they have a neat little EP called 'What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way?' Sound is more like Moral Panic. Broken Machine would rank 3rd for me. DCC Moral Panic - EP on top of that Broken Machine Debut Really hope you get to see these guys live at some point! Try to stay out of the mosh pit it's crazy
Thanks Ben! I'm so glad you got to this album (by a nose!) It's my favourite, but please: even if it's not on RUclips have a listen to Particles (Piano edition) - it will melt you! That's why I want the band to release a 3-disc set for a future album: one unplugged, one studio and the final disc with an Orchestra supporting them. It would cost a fortune to produce, but it would be so worth it. Take it easy!
You need to watch more live performances of them they are ON POINT live especially Conors vocals. PS.... How flipping amazing is Sorry, I even have a tattoo of the lp cover :) its one of my favourites. What this band (in particular Conors vocals) does to people emotionally is mind blowing...there are no words.
If i were you!!!!! Id check out a track called, IF I WERE YOU, EP by NBT and one of my fave ever, the stripped back version of Broken Machine on youtube, Conors voice is amazing. Enjoy x
Conor's voice is so incredible, that nothing he sings can sound bad. Broken Machine is my favorite album by NBT, and they are in my top 5 bands, along with Brand New, Glass Animals, Foals, and Tame Impala. I found you through your reactions to Banks's albums. You're the only RUclipsr who reacts to the music I love.
Have you listened to the complete edition of moral panic yet? If not, you should def react to the additional tracks. Futureproof is one of my fave songs of theirs 🩷
Now that you've heard the song Broken Machine, and the repeating lyric "I'm just a broken machine" you can appreciate Keeping You Around from DCC and the lyric "I'm still a broken machine, babe" 😭
I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I FIRST HEARD IT
I wish I knew before, BUT it's awesome to go past in time haha
TRUEEEEEEEEE
IN LOVE WITH THE FEELING, BRO, I CAN'T GET OVER THAT, SO EXCITED!!!
'What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way?' next step
Awesome EP.
Yes! “Take This Lonely Heart” such a good song
A lot of this album’s concept is based around Conor (lead vocalist) and the band member’s struggles with mental health/alcohol etc from touring and not being able to take care of themselves during that period of their early touring life.
A big self reflection album! But a great listen
PLEASE LISTEN TO BOTH EPs, they are so powerful catchy and combine sound from the first 3 albums. I know you won’t regret
The EPs are soo good! ❤
Moral Panic 2 is literally perfect omg
Particles has like always been my all time fav song by NBT because it’s so beautifully gut wrenching i will never get over it. rips out my heart and sends chills through my body every time
It's HEART BREAKING and inspiring at the same time omg
I love particles (piano version) a bit more, which might be my favorite song.
Bro has been feeding us endlessly with these reactions. not complaining tho this is the best thing ever. This album is so amazing and i love the production. Glad you're enjoying the music. My favorite thing is their live performances. Conor's voice is just chef's kiss 👌
Thanks for coming on the ride with me 😍 Honestly, it's been one of my favourite bands to discover and experience albums SO closely together!
Hey man, I know you listened to moral panic but did you know there’s a moral panic 2??? It’s only five songs long but it’s some of their best work ever and that is saying something. They also have another 5 song EP ‘what did you think when you made me this way’ which I would hugely recommend too!!
I love seeing nothing but thieves get the hype they deserve. Him listening to 'sorry' is literally how I am every time I hear it 💀
CANNOT STOP LISTENING!!
I love the metaphor of putting on your own oxygen mask first before dealing with the others for the mental issues. Your own health should be a priority
🤯🤯🤯 omg
Afterlife is one of my favorite songs by them, it sparks the same feeling Keeping You Around and Moral Panic have given me
Broken Machine (the song) had me in a chokehold for a solid year, so it's interesting to hear you say it's your least favourite! I love how different it is to the other songs on the album.
Same! It probably helps that I found it when I was really depressed and it made me feel seen in a way. It didn't feel soul sucking but more like it gave me life back then
@@kirabrinkmeier8819 I totally agree, that song fires me up more than anything somehow!
i loooove your reactions. ok now you’ve gotta listen to their 2 EPs, “What did you think when you made me this way?” and “Moral Panic II”!
Haha yep, everyone wants the EP's now!
OMG YESSSS, so glad you got to give this album a listen!!😆 This is the best album to scream to driving down the highway at night!
This album actually has a deluxe deluxe version with two more songs, "I Need Air" and "Stuck on You", that version was released only in Japan
Stuck on you is SO catchy, it would have been a great single if not for the swearing!
I'd love to see you react to an album called 'Attack Of The Grey Lantern' by Mansun. Get on their EPs dude!!!
Yesssss
Love your reviews. My order would be
1. DCC
2. Broken Machine
3. Moral Panic
4. NBT
But really, who am I kidding, you can put them in any order you want they’re still going to change your life!
Thank you!!!
HAHAHA literally I dunno if even can!
Next you'll need to listen to Man-Made Sunshine. It's Conor (Nothing But Thieves lead singer) side project. He released a beautiful EP late last year!
Omg keen!

HAHA, sad, heavy, same stuff :P
Literally though, DRAINING!!!!
You need to watch ‘Nothing But Thieves - live at TRNSMT festival 2023’ they played songs from all albums and the were on form!! Sooo good
Thank you for more Nothing but Thieves, Ben! It's always an experience to watch other people react to one of my favorite bands and your reactions are always so fun.
It's been such an awesome journey THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!!!!

YESSSSSS so happy you finally did this one!

Take it easy!
On another video of his I recommend he listen to the acoustic songs too! I also recommended the orchestral version of Impossible
I would love a video of him reacting to all of the acoustic/piano/orchestral versions, I think it would be really cool
You need to watch more live performances of them they are ON POINT live especially Conors vocals. PS.... How flipping amazing is Sorry, I even have a tattoo of the lp cover :) its one of my favourites. A very worthy tattoo!!!
The way you got the meaning of the cover spot-on immediately without even hearing the album lmao
omg YES! haha, this rarely happens!
Number 13 is hands down my all time favorite NBT song. Broken Machine is a close second🔥
it's grown on me SO MUCH!!!
if you like Nothing But Thieves you’re going to love Highly Suspect, they even have a song together!
If i were you!!!!! Id check out a track called, IF I WERE YOU, EP by NBT and one of my fave ever, the stripped back version of Broken Machine on youtube, Conors voice is amazing. Enjoy x

aha there’s only 2 years between this and their debut album
Maybe he just meant since the formation of their band, which was in 2012
