Christmas sculpture part 1 "Holy Family in Flight"

Soft sculpture needle felt of the Holy Family. In the end this piece will include St. Joseph, leading a donkey that carries the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus. The idea was inspired by Pope Francis' Amoris Letitia in which he discusses the family. In reading it I could see why he would emphasis the plight of the refugee since the Holy Family were in fact refugees themselves, fleeing the mass murder of all children born around the time of Jesus. Of course Herod was trying to kill Jesus, but I found it interesting that today's refugee children are also in peril.
