  • Everyone told me I had to take minute to check out Kagerou LIVE so I could see the Kami Band intro... and good jesus lord, I knew they had talent, but somehow this was still beyond my expectations. Everyone that is a part of this group has some serious talent, and AGAIN, Babymetal shows us why their live shows are some of the best in the industry.

Good one. Yes the Kami Band are always their backing band - for a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows since October 2012, for the entirety of every live performance since March 2014.
The Kami Band of the West (Chris Kelly, CJ Masciantonio, Clint Tustin and Anthony Barone) were the support for the 2019 US and 2020 UK & Europe tours. It was them in this video.
You will not see Yui in any performance of songs from the 3rd album. That was released in October 2019, a year after she left and 2 years after her last performance.
The Avengers were not given microphones, they were there to dance, not to sing. Backing vocals and harmonies are from Moa.
There are a handful of older songs where the Kami Band of the East played instrumental intros in live shows like the one for this song - 'Rondo of Nightmare' and 'Catch Me If You Can' are the obvious ones - less frequently they had intros before 'Yava' and 'Awadama Fever' (and I'm sure I've missed another - or have I?).

Really nice reaction. These were pretty much rocking these outfits right up til the new era gear was revealed at Clear Night, PIA Arena in 2023.

Great reaction Champ! Kagerou is definitely a vibe... One of my absolute favourites. It is a more mature sounding BABYMETAL and I really enjoy seeing the evolution of their music. Oh, what about Barone-sama and that gravity blast beat! Thank you for the reaction. 🦊🤘💎🔥🖤

Yeah this song is killer live. This is the Western Kami Band made up of American musicians. If you look closely you'll see the the Avengers don't have mic's so Moa handles the backing vocals herself. As I understand it the Avengers are no more, it'll be interesting to see if they remain a duo if and when they return to live performances. The question is does Koba have a surprise in store for the third spot, I guess only the Fox God Knows 🤔 🦊🤘

Nice one and thanks for the re-upload!
"Kagerou" definitely represents the grown-up version of BABYMETAL, because of the unusual lyrics (it's about jealousy), the choreo, etc.
If you have not watched another Kami Band solos intro yet, you need to check out "Rondo of Nightmare" or "Catch me if you can" ASAP 😁

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛 especially for your effort to re-upload this. This is a compilation from 3 shows including one at the Forum, Inglewood CA. The band in the girls' back is West (American) Kamis as Grington300 300 commented below. The machine gun drummer, Anthony Barone, is great. (FYI, Anthony has recently been qualified as N4 in Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. 😲 That must be difficult.) Su is singing about jealousy against someone using a metaphor of heat haze, "Kagerou". The hash emotion is shimmering from her inner blaze, and it seems to me that her emotion will not erupt but turn into magma. It's scary😱 . This is the song featuring BM's heavy and seductive side. The girls have grown up into ladies now without doubt.

    Well worth a re-upload.
One of my favorites from the 'Metal Galaxy' album.
BTW, the avengers don't have mics.
Background vocals are Moa (live) and Su's own harmonies on the backing track.

In case you wanna see an intro from the "original/eastern" kami band, you have to check out "Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro)"
Awesome song, but the intro included is totally killing it!

I just got into them 3 months ago and I'm deep in the foxhole. This may be my favorite song from them so far, or at least in the top 5! It's been quite a ride emotionally, I feel like I've experienced their journey with them via RUclips 🤣as silly as that sounds. Seeing the courage and conviction they had on stage performing idz in 2014 at Sonisphere, to seeing the live show of Metal Kingdom and their gorgeous melodies and dancing in Light and Darkness, it's truly inspiring!

that was the western Kami band and they are super talented (the classical piece in the guitar solo, and the machine gun double tap [felt more like triple] were stand out for me). I still prefer the Japanese Kami band (for the Kiss-esque showmanship); definitely check out "Rondo of Nightmare" - I'm stunned you've not been pushed into reacting to that one already - vn with Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro (for the Japanese Kami band with some great solos). I would suggest the Budokan Black Night show.

Kami Band of the West Represent!!! You haven't seen Kamiband intros??? Time to check out Rondo of Nightmare, Yava, Catch Me if You Can....These 3 usually have an intro preceding it.The evolution of Babymetal headbangs... you had the side to side young Babymetal from Headbanger, now you get to see the mature, badass, ponytail whip head banging in Kagerou. so cool. 😁😁😁🤘🦊🤘

Nice reaction. IMO their album recordings are like a taster's plate. Here's a taste of what you're going to get live. Babymetal why are you teasing us? LOL Good thing for us they like to release their live concerts as well. Babymetal has gotten their best live reputation through a lot of hard work. And it's most appreciated. The choreography is part of their new mature kawaii metal. They wanted the choreography to reflect the fact that are little angels have grown up before our eyes. The lyrics are more mature as well. Jealousy isn't something they would have covered in their younger days. But there are a few lines in the song that I think are what Babymetal told someone when the conversation about should Babymetal continue after Yui left. "Crazy crazy you you don't believe". Kagerou is a heat haze. They're side to side movement is meant to represent that. The heat that raises up. Also, the growing anger of being asked that question. We're so glad they decided to continue on. Moa has talked about focusing on her dancing for the 3rd album. But when you listen to this song and others from the 3rd album, you'll notice that Moa did a lot of vocal work as well. She does some backing harmonies as well as backing vocal lines. And sometimes whole vocal sections like in Night Night Burn or Oh Mijinai. Moa was on top of her game during the last tour. We can only guess at what choreography Babymetal will bring to us next.
