Get ready for summer by building this clever wooden planter box for your outdoor space! It's eye-catching and easy to build. The idea behind this is that you don’t have to go shopping for any special sized pots to set inside. A regular 5 gallon bucket widely available at hardware stores and home centers will work perfectly. Just drill a couple holes in the bottom for drainage!

Thank you for including your "I messed up, now let me figure this out. Nope, that won't work, let me try this" moments because I feel like every time I try to make something I have at least one of those moments. Glad to know that it isn't due to my inexperience. It is comforting knowing that mistakes happen to the even best of you.

@@SteveRamseyquestion, or maybe a statement; since you are drilling those holes 1/2 way through the posts, couldn’t you drill just a bit past 1/2 way on the same plane. The screws would miss each other and just be adjacent if you did so? Since the screw heads would clear the other hole coming in at 90 degrees, it would solve the issue in a fresh project. Obviously, you could have done the same here if you plugged the holes instead. You could then add a contrasting wood plug and it would be at the same height adding it as a design element?

I have to admit I rolled the video back so I could see (again) the part where you clamped it and the two sides flopped down. Thanks for including what most DIY youtubers omit from their "oops" moments: the actual thought process of reaching a fix. Many will at least include their "oops" moments, and sometimes even their failed fixes. But the valuable learning really comes from seeing another person's thought process and their approach to problem solving, rather than their solutions.

Nice video and good to see I'm not the only one who 'cocks up' lol. Here's a thought, maybe use pocket hole screws to connect the sides instead of drilling holes? Although it may be necessary to use drilled holes in two of the sides as getting pocket holes screwed in once on side is in could be difficult.

While I love all aspects of Steve’s videos, I just want to mention how much I love the audio. When he “pats” the work pieces on his bench, or shifts pieces to bring them together into alignment, the sounds are so satisfying. Everything sounds so solid and oddly enough, that is yet another part of his videos that inspires and motivates me to get out and build something.
    Thanks for everything, Steve.
