  • Mike and I saw this motor in the back of a truck going down the highway... pulled him over and bought it! Then, Toby and I try and get it running to drop in the frame of the Tom Seller's Coupe I'm building!
Surprise, the motor had adjustable lifters. I checked it to see if it had an aftermarket cam, but it didn't just a stock one. We're adding a rebuilt 1939 trans, Tattersfield 2x2 hi-rise intake and Fenton headers to this motor so we can cruise the coupe this summer!!
If you haven't seen the Tom Seller's coupe, check out my other videos and see where we pulled it out of the old shop it had been in for almost 20 years.
Shout out to Toby for helping me get it running!! Follow him on IG @therealtobyrobinson
Follow me on IG @chaddilacdesigns to see all the swap meet scores and vehicles we purchase!
We buy tons of parts and cars, email me directly with any leads!

I came across this video, watched it and subscribed. It reminded me that an old friend bought a 47 Ford flatbed with the original flathead V8 in it. That was around 73 or 75. It was an 89 hp, and it ran great. He of course later swapped it out with a Pontiac 326 engine and tranny from his old wagon he was given by his mom. That thing ran like a scalded chicken.

Bought my first Flathead this month on a whim n just fun project. Never thought I’d own one. My shop for this project is the old family barn/tractor shed.
How can I remove all the oil sludge without power washing ? DIY
I don’t want to introduce water. 1937 221 best guess.
Amazed there was no rust in cylinders nor water in oil pan. No stuck valves or pistons. Can’t wait to hear it run.

That's awesome! You can use degreaser and brake cleaner to but unfortunately you'll have to use water at some point. I would probably plug all the holes (intake, Oil fill, and exhaust) with rags and tape them up good. then oven cleaner or a strong degreaser and power wash it. The pull the oil pan and clean it out the same. Once you get it clean you can get it put back tougher and fill with oil, run it a little and drain the oil out and it'll pull any of the water down to the plug. Have fun with it... it won't take much to get it to run and the sound is like no other engine!!

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I've started junkyard engines on the garage floor ,,,,,One , remove all spark plugs and spray WD-40 in the cylinders,,,,TWO , turn crankshaft over with a wrench ; if it rotates ; step THREE , rig up an ignition system and check for spark , FOUR,,,,check operation of carburetor, then fill the float bowl via the bowl vent,,,use a can of brake clean with its small straw that will slide into the bowl vent,,,,,,,whack the throttle a few times to see if fuel is shooting into the manifold ; the float bowl is now full , set the choke cam linkage to run at a medium speed from idle ; FIVE , energize the starter and see if she fires up...........COOL VIDEO........thanks....

Put fuel in a carb with no filter, then put your face over it and turn the engine over. ??? Could have been blinded if it had back fired.

you guys should clamp that engine to your jack stands because the motor will jump around when you rev it up
