It wouldn’t be a season of soloing the Ark without some hyenadons near the beginning of the season.

Gotta say thanks to you for this taming pen. Back when these pups first came out, they were a massive pain to tame, so I was very happy to find an easier, more efficient way to handle them. Thanks Phlinger!
even when they first came out ppl would use square rooms with doorways and it worked fine.

Dropping a critter into a small trap like that is much easier if you make the walls two high on three of the sides. This allows you to fly the critter over the the one-high wall, but low enough that it will hit the back two-high wall. This will cause the Argie to drop the critter when it clips into the back wall. The two-high walls on the sides will help ensure it drops into the trap.

When you saw that blue Allo that was level 60, it looked like it’s alpha was a 135, but I couldn’t tell for sure. I think you might be either just passed or just before Allo saddle level too, so they may not be a bad investment right now. Plus, if you made a sap thingy, you could get pretty decent kibble from them.
The alpha wasn't the 135.
This may mean that the alpha is possibly max level.
Not sure if you’ve covered this before but since the TLC a few months ago, stegos are actually an awesome early game gatherer, they have different plate modes and can be amazing wood gatherers, I’m using one in one of my playthroughs instead of a beaver or mammoth! You hit c to cycle through plate modes and they will gather more wood, berries, or thatch, depending on the plate mode!

More like the rex was saying "well i would but i had a bird scratching my back and hey look peice of candy" pretty much it did get deztracted by something else
Is RUclips messing with your views and likes Phlinger? I’ve heard that’s been happening a lot even heard some channels were having likes disappearing in the middle of live streams. RUclips is always doing something weird to the system. Hopefully it will clear up soon and quit shorting creators of views and likes.

Great timing! Watching this while running around with my own Hyaenodon hunting pack. Riding a Ravager and having them follow makes you feel like you’re the ugly parent of a lot of puppies, haha.

@Phlinger Phoo, have you really looked at what the new stego stances can do? Stego now does everything harvesting as good as beavers, thatch grabbers and berries based on the stance you are in. They are crazy good wood gatherers now, only downside is no weight reduction.

Yesss hyaenodon pack 2.0 , love these! I use your trap too I only place an extra wall on one off the sides to simplify the dropping in
You can also make sort of a funnel with thatch slopes, helps a lot.
Yaaaaaaay!!! I have such a soft spot for hyenas and I love all content featuring them! I killed the manticore gamma on official with my hyaenodons. They’re so powerful and deserve more attention 😁
This is the third trap I found.. best out of the 3. I think it needs to be on flat ground so u can access the tame from either side. I'm on scorched in the dunes.. lol so I can only access from 2 sides.. the tame tends to go to 1 of the sides u can't get to and is just out of pet range unless u enter the pen.. but I have noticed if you take out your spy glass and look at the tame briefly it will bring it back in range for the peting. Good vid and truly this thing is annoying to tame.. I have spent hours trying to tame them and only have 2 atm.. I wanna do a guard fight with just them lol 😆

I failed at this trap a couple days ago, i made it on my front porch but the foundations didnt touch the ground so the Hyaenadon just walked right under it XD

First time I tried this trap was on a server without wild dino pickup enabled... if you think 'threading the needle' is tricky, try kiting them in instead :p

Loving the vid you're posting. If you make 2 of the 4 walls on the fences 2 high instead of 1, it would be easier to scrape off the dino you're carrying.

It's nice to watch how you tamed it. Unfortunately, I cannot pick up wild creatures on official PVE servers, so, this method would not work for me. Anyway, nice work!

You can carry hyenadons in Argy beaks with C, might be easier to aim for the pen.

Hey Question: Xbox One, Does anyone else have their TAMED Ichtyornis' fly off in random directions (Towards the nearest Lake/Beach) every time when you travel away from your Home Base...even when they are NOT set on Wander, set to Passive, NOT set on FOLLOW...and have been sitting in a CAGE or enclosed building room?

@@cupricqiviut8265 Do you keep yours sitting in Cages or just sitting in enclosed building room Floor-Platforms...or sitting on the bare ground?.....because mine always end up flying around outside no matter where I put them....which makes NO SENSE since they are TAMEABLE & BREEDABLE...should also be Cageable
Its been a while since I ran a pack of Hyenadons, they can be a lot of fun.
Not keen on hyenas, i love my pack of 10 level 260 raptors with over 500% melee each :) stuff just dies before it can run :D

I made this trap and I couldn't get it in the little 1x1 hole. I removed two walls and added walls around the whole thing. It takes a minute for it to fall inside but it's way faster than failed attempts.

130s can be pretty good. I tamed a 130 Yuty with INSANELY good health. like, her health is the best out of all the yutis I tamed. I couldn't believe my eyes

Post tlc stego might be a good stand in for a beaver, plus gets decent rare flowers off of the cat tails.
Agreed. Because of stegos I barely even use beavers now except if I need a portable smithy. Mammoths are still good too because of the weight reduction.
Yeah, and even then, argents are a better mobile smithy. Beavers are good for remote gathering and hauling wood with an argent but that's usually uncalled for. Pain to tame with the high torpor drain too.

Hyenadons fun to have but not fun to have 3 packs of them ambushing you me and my tribe buds feburary of last year had chosed to go on a cave exploring on the island and we got ambushed by 3 packs of hyenas that had just spawned in above the cave and they came flying off the cliff after us so we ran but only one of us made it out alive so we flew back on flyers and took them out then grabbed our stuff it was brutal 3 packs of 4 hyenas each to make 12 altogether and they were all maxed level for the server we didnt stand a chance without out argents and allies

Instead of using rexes for the boss fights, I think you should try using stegos. It would be nice to see if the TLC made them boss fight worthy.

I put mine in the taming pen but the option to pet doesn’t come, she just keeps running trying to get out, what did I do wrong?
late reply, but: it was probably 'aggroed' still. Leave the area far enough to break aggro, it should be calm and allow you to pet it when you come back.

Watching this and Hearing him talk about stegos and bearings really makes me dislike that update. Stegos cannot gather berry's anymore. I found that out after finding and taming a lvl 150 stego.
The mutation made the hyenas look like German pinschers....😲😵
