Springer Fork: How to tell the difference between OG Schwinn and repops.

- in this video im going to so the difference between og Schwinn springers and 1998-99 repop springer. im going to go over the design characteristics and what to look for. Please like and subscribe so i can bring you more Vintage Schwinn content.
I just wanted to say if you every try to bend forks again and don't want to get those creases in the tubes you can either pack it full of sand if you can't fill it with sand use a fire resistance fluid and seal it off before you try bending it if you make a jig and use a little heat you can get it with out creasing it make sure you drain it when your done. 🏍️👍✌️💯🛠️🇺🇸
a fork bending tutorial would be good too. I remember an article on that in L.R Bicycle Mag back when but never did it... Also who designed these springers? I've heard it called a Peterson fork? Ive googled it but didnt come up with much
Yes, I'll be sure to do a bending tutorial pretty soon. These are original Schwinn forks. Designed and patented by Schwinn. These repops were more than likely made in Denver with different tooling.
How do I find out what model I have it’s a starts with a B136148 i’m trying to put it all back together original I want to know which model if you can help me with that I looked online can you find that thing everything‘s for 60 30 no stingrays and crates I’m thinking it’s a speedster they made a 20 inch I’m guessing it’s a radiant red

Hey bro did u have to cut down the the steering tube or u already had a steering tube for a 20in ?
I already had a steering tube from a krate. but you can cut down a 26 steering tube from top and rethread or from bottom and weld, keeping the original thread.
Would a regular pipe threader work .. I’d ever thread the same or I need a certain one .. I don’t no if that makes sense bro
@@NSLB08 it would have to be a certain thread if your gonna use schwinn head set. schwinn is fine thread, maybe find a source for tap & Dye.

I have a 1977 Schwinn stingray would that fork fit on mines ?
@@NSLB08 yes. krate forks will fit all 20 in schwinn frames. they are somewhat hard to fins, but they do pop up every now and then. I don't have any extra. you might be able to find the repops but they seem to cost about the same but they are a cheaper quality. they have the look tho.
