I work at a bike shop so I’ve always had the tool BUT this is pure genius! Well done! This is a great tip that I can pass on to help out other people. Thank you!
thank you. You know, I've been into schwinns since 90 and I never knew there was actually a tool for this. 😅 Not until around 2010/15ish and I got into a couple bike groups and found out. I still don't have a tool😅 but I rarely take off kick stands. maybe one of these days I'll get one just to have.
@@Schwinn_Addiction yeah it’s definitely a neat tool to have in your arsenal. 👍🏼
Brilliant compressing it with the pliers first! I knew the socket wrench trick but always played hell getting it reinstalled. Thanks!
This the 3rd video I watched on this topic. Yours was by far the best method and the only one that worked. Thanks!
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

Thanks so much, I woul have never thought to use the Tongue and groove pliers to compress the spring

Thank you so much, very informative 👏
Awesome , I never knew this .
I’ll have to try that again.I’m trying to clean it up some rust on it
Pour some penetrating oil down inside. 3 in 1 or Liquid wrench. Let sit. Insert screw driver to the back side and tap it out.
thank you, thank you, thank you
Hi, I succeeded to remove the pin but I can remove the kickstand from the frame. Maybe something is broken and is blocking the kickstand. Do you have an idea to remove it ? Thanks
Hi, once you get the pin out there should be nothing else holding it in. It might be 40 year old gunky hard grease. Try pouring oil down inside, or using a screwdriver and hammer then tap on the back side thru the tri angle shaped hole. It should slide out.
@@Schwinn_Addiction Thank you. I tapped a lot of time and finally, I removed the kickstand. The front bushing was blocked in the kickstand housing.
I had a difficult time trying to pop the pin out .won’t budge I wanted to clean the kick stand so I left it alone not much metal left.
try PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench. pour a lil down and let soak. sometimes the ring can get stuck from rust or gunky grease. maybe use a lil heat. press the ring down, to see if there is any kind of movement.
@@Schwinn_Addiction ok thanks sounds great
Do you ever grease the spring.?
@@Schwinn_Addictionwhat kind of grease do you recommend for the spring and cup bearings?
@@jaimefernandez3076 I used Automotive high temp bearing grease. Get it at your local Auto parts store.
