    Beautiful...i like the detailed planning....and the Serenity prayer? I know you are busy so let me just remind you the wording: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

    How do you weed such vast area of farm? Is labour affordable? Or do you use herbicides , weed killers?

    hi ,what variety of groundnut did you grow and whats the price per tonne in Zambia🚜

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  Год назад

      Hi Lionel,
      Thanks for your question.
      Honestly, we planted groundnuts as shown in the video back in 2021, and we haven't touched them since. I can't remember the variety and I would have to go look in our records. Sorry, things are hectic for me with now operating two busy farms and other pressures in my day job.
      I hope you will be able to freeze the video when I show the crop poster and see what you make out.
      That being said, I have no idea what the groundnut prices are like. But I'm sure you can do some googling or contacting those who are closer to the product to find out.

      Hi Ole. Yes, we are working on something to conclude the cucumber series. Things just got very busy with the day job during Nov-Jan.
      Spoiler alert: The cucumber 2022 story didn't end well!!
      But the story shall be shared in full over the next couple of months.

      That is hard for us to guide from here.
      Pls engage with farmers in your country/area to learn what is available locally, and what has worked well for them.
      All the best.

    • @mondofarms4343

      Yes, here soya beans is normally grown in the summer rain season from Nov/Dec - Mar/Apr.
      It needs the heat units to do well.

      Hi there. As our farms are full-time businesses, we restrict the number and frequency of visitors. It has been found to be a challenge for us to meet our work targets and deliverables.
      We produce these videos to open and share our experience and guidance with a wide audience. We also started to hold Farmers Field Days last year and are working on a couple later this year. These will be publicized our social media closer to the time.
      For now, that is all we can offer.

    How many bags of Soya Beans did you harvest from your 2.3hectares you planted the other season?

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  Год назад +1

      Hi Ba Mulenga. We don't share such numbers about our finances on an open social media platform. After all, we are a business.
      The aim of our channel is to share the journey and help other farmers.
      All the best!

    Do you get uninvited baboons and monkeys at your farm?

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  Год назад

      I remember having a few monkeys back in 2020, but they have since moved down the Chongwe River valley further into less inhabited areas.
      If you look up the location of Winterthorn on Google Maps, you will note that it is located on the Chongwe River a few Kms downstream of Chongwe Town. You will also note that the Chongwe flows south east from us and down towards the Zambezi. The confluence of the two rivers is located in the Lower Zambezi National Park, where the animals are protected and much safer.
      Sadly, our growing population and urbanization keep displacing wildlife. Human-animal conflict is a major thing.

    Bet you crying now about the price k6 per kg 😂

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  Год назад

      Yes, indeed, the current price is much less than one would hope for.
      We invested a lot into our soya beans crop this season. Fortunately, our larger yield gives us a better chance.
      We are also going to keep some of the harvest as seed for next season rather than sell it at these prices, and then have to buy seed again at the supplier prices.
      But that is farming. It is never easy.
