What’s the last reel you bought yourself? What’s your current favorite reel to use? Comment below and give people some recommendations! As always, thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the episode 👍🏼
A $59.95 Penn spinning reel (not sure the series - its red, from Walmart)... but its caught some nice flounder and redfish here in Florida. Good for my kids to use too... I don't fear collateral damage
Really like watching the videos when you and your family are fishing! Y'all look like you are having so much fun. Man, I miss my Dad! Lost him in '99. Bless y'all!
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
You can absolutely catch fish on cheaper gear. More expensive gear matters more when you are 1. fishing surf where saltwater intrusion is an issue and 2. When you are catching big fish one after another, they will destroy cheaper gear. That being said there will be little difference between a 150$ and 500$ reel
@@Jake-pw8rp huge difference between a Daiwa BG and a Certate. Or any other reel nearing 500 dollars. And even bigger nearing the 800+ dollar mark. But I've fished BGs, conflicts, battles, etc. And I own much higher dollar reels. And the difference is massive.
@@Tyler-kw9ce Of course there will be an appreciable difference. I meant that both a penn spinfisher or penn torque will be able to handle many big fish and alot of abuse. Just because the torque cost 4x as much doesnt mean it will last 4x longer. It will feel nicer, be a higher quality, have more seals and bearings etc but there will be a point of diminishing returns. Personally fish reels in the 150$-300$ range and notice little difference in performance.
@@Jake-pw8rp absolutely! There are always diminished returns on a purchase. X amount for X% more performance. It all comes down to what you can reasonably spend. But a spinfisher, slammer 3, saltist, etc... Will fit most everyone's needs. But if you've got the coin go for the certate, saltiga, stella, Van Staal, etc.. The higher dollar reels will last longer for sure. But mostly they improve the experience. Just like a 100 dollar seiko watch will be close to the accuracy of a Rolex or Brietling.
Daiwa Certate 5000 LT is the last spinning reel I bought. Smoothest reel that I ever touched (Even smoother than Saltiga and Stella) and I take it offshore as well!
Agree, I bought the Certate Lt 5000 and a Twin Power FD 5000. After 2 sessions side by side I sold the Twin Power, Certate is just so much nicer and more powerful.
The Daiwa Certate LT is way better than the new Shimano Twin Power XD in terms of smoothness, quality and refinement. The only redeeming feature I saw from the Twin Power is that its easier to work on since you dont have to deal with Magseal but thats about it. If you are not catching big fish left and right. The Stradic FL does the job already
We get them all the time..best size when they smaller than 4 lbs...fillet it, remove bloodline and bones strip it to finger size egg wash and panko...fry till very light brown...mayonnaise with dill pickle making your own tarter sauce ...👍🏼 my fav for jacks!
In Hawaii we love the Jacks we call them Papio when under ten pounds and Ulua when over ten pounds. Gotta try them many different ways even sashimi style. You can fry it bake or steam!! Good tasting for sure. And my favorite reel at the moment is my Okuma Azores 6000
How we doing? I always watch you guys and I enjoy the father and son relationship. But now I have this to say to you guys, I've always bought the cheapest equipment and I've had very good success. Some of us could buy what you could afford but some of us can't afford what you guys buy. I would say to some people listen anything is good as long as you take good care of it. Maintenance is the key so $500 for a spinner is too much especially for people who can't afford it. I just bought me two 10 foot rods for 20 bucks and that did me a lot of good and I used spinners that are over 20 years old and they haven't failed me because of good maintenance. I would like to see a video from you guys using affordable equipment. That would encourage new fishermen and if they wish to buy more expensive equipment later then that would be their choice. Thank you and look forward to more videos.
Over here on the big island, we love our jacks and trevallys. GTs are our target fish so lil ones were always happy to get. Gotta fry um with butter and garlic with like a panko coating.
Hey skipper, not sure if you read or care about your comments at all but I just started watching your videos and think you have amazing content. I love seeing the clips of the rods bending before you get to them and think it’s cool how much you switch up the rigs and bait. I’m from Raleigh so I appreciate the nc fishing and hope to see you out there some time. Good stuff and thank you, reply back if you do read your comments and enjoy any compliments or pros from a viewers view. Good stuff, Noga
I like OKUMA Reels & Rods. I broke a 9' foot 2 piece around Thanksgiving. Okuma sent me the replacement in 2 weeks. I like to make smoked fish dip with Jacks.
Last REELS I bought was a matching pair of old mitchell 300 and I love them if only for the easy maintainance and well built nice aesthetics I live in the UK and don't get me wrong you use the right reel for the situation your fishing in however and I own many more reels and rods then I probably need like all of us great show skipper
When I was a mechanic, the high end tool salesman would come around and tempt me to buy high end tools. I wound up buying the ones I used the most and it payed off.
It's always good to have that "prize" reel or over under shotgun, fine whisky... something to make you proud. Work hard, get stuff on sale ... and once in a while... remind yourself you deserve good stuff too!
Wow super catches it's awesome 👍👍 The fun part is your blessings to the rod😂😂 i cant stop laughing, once again nice video.waiting for your next video bro ❤️❤️
G'day mate, great to see you get on so well with your old man. We dish trevally up as Tahitian fish. Raw fish, coconut milk, lime juice , chopped onion , fresh chilli and salt and cracked pepper. Bloody great mate 🍻
I eat Jack all the time. Trick is you gotta treat it like low end beef. I bleed it, filet it, cut it into 1 inch cubes, soak it in salt water for an hour or so, smother it in dales or Montreal steak seasoning and lemon juice about a half hour, then grill it. Delish.
Cut in 3 pieces... Add a mixture of chilli powder and salt to the whole fish and fry in a pan. Serve with a slice of buttered bread and lemon or alternatively dhall curry and rice🇨🇮🇿🇦
Let's see a vid on using cicadas as bait. Can you freeze them? Do they come back to life? How about fridge? What about the skins-will fish bite them? Top water and below water.
last reel i bought is a speedcast shimano. i use it for surfcasting. pretty much a cheaper version of the ultegra but has the same functions: slow oscillation and 20kg drag. great for surfcasting for sure.
The Twin Power FD is a nice reel. However for similar money the Certate LT is on another level. I’m not brand biased but I’ve owned both and in the 5000 size especially the Certate is a different beast!!
What’s the location of this area? I’m going fishing this weekend and live a hour from Jacksonville. Been wanting to find a location down there where fish actually bite.
Skipper, I also bought a twin power FD 4000, now I know you’ve fished the canal in the past, and I have a bigger 6k sw twin power. But I was wondering if you think this FD series twin power would hold up to the canal with say a 8ft surf rod
I have a twin power fd in 5k size and honestly there's a lot of times I like it more than my 2019 stella sw. I get that the stella is heavier and stronger since its a saltwater reel, but the twin power is so light and smooth. The handle basically turns itself. I love both reels but there are times when I prefer the tp to the stella. I also got the Daiwa certate lt recently and it gives the twin power a run for its money. Its definitely stronger and casts further than the twin power, but I would say the tp feels smoother.
all 3 reels I have in 5000 size, I use them mainly for stripe bass, jack crevalle, bull reds, and anything thatll hit topwater plugs. The occasional flathead catfish or alligator/longnose gar at my local spillway.
Where did you get that reel? I have waiting for weeks for my Shimano 2021 Twin Power SW 8000HG... I heard there were significant shipping delays with Shimano reels from Japan.
2009 I bought my first twin power at 17years old.. it was beautiful.. then it got stolen :( remember not to keep your gear in your car.. wish I had more time now to go fishing.
Hey brother I own 2 shimano Thunnus reels a 4000 and 6000 the both have a clicker and bait runner so smooth I'd be curious to know how the twin stacks up
Well sir on my choice of gears i love using Daiwa rod and reel if were talking about medium to heavy tackles the on UL tackles i go for okuma they have a very smooth flexibllity as well with reels too that my experience on this gears
We are around!! Did all last year during covid here catching perch and catfish until the fall North Carolina trips. Parents bought a house in florida and we have been taking advantage of that this year. Haven’t done a lot of Maryland fishing this year since the spring yellow/ white perch run tbh since the stripers have been suffering already…. How’s it going man? How has your season been? Good to hear from ya
Great reel, but yes.. shimanos require high maintenance for good performance. That’s why I ended up buying a van staal. Less moving parts and maintenance. You do give up that shimano-daiwa smooth though.

The last reel I bought was a stella 19
14000 and my favorite would be a twin power xd 5000
A $59.95 Penn spinning reel (not sure the series - its red, from Walmart)... but its caught some nice flounder and redfish here in Florida. Good for my kids to use too... I don't fear collateral damage
Daiwa Certate LT
Last reel i buy last month is tokushima hk 5000 ..
My current reel that i'm use is bossna arreat 4000 fisrt model ..
My last combo was the penn wrath 5000 and is really good and decent price but I honestly want either a shimano or a daiwa thanks for the vid
Your father reminds me of mine. You are truly blessed by your family! Love to see you making memories.
Love watching them
This reel has been out for 15 months, the SW is the 2021 reel, FD is Feb 2020.
Love when your Dad is on with you guys.

I love my $25 walmart specials. I have no problem catching muti species with it.
Fish dont discriminate how much your gear is. Its your skills that matters more

I just got a 4000, dying to use it. This is my first Shimano reel. It’s so smooth and quite. Feels good on my 7’ rod.

can’t stand diawa drag
Hey Skipper, small note, This reel you got is the Shimano Twin Power 2020. The 2021 much different and more heavier (415 grams if im not mistaken)
Yes correct, that’s the 2020 twin power. The 2021 is blue and silver and very scare rn.
I think it was the 2020 bc the 2021 it kinda blue color which I am about to order one for bonito fishing.
🤣🤣🤣
We get them all the time..best size when they smaller than 4 lbs...fillet it, remove bloodline and bones strip it to finger size egg wash and panko...fry till very light brown...mayonnaise with dill pickle making your own tarter sauce ...👍🏼 my fav for jacks!
Bro two videos in one day!!!! I'm so happy!!!!
I swear. I could sit here and watch y’all fish all day!
Haha that’s awesome! Thanks!
I have a twin power and love it , I just bought the 2021 stradic sw 6000 but haven’t used it yet can’t wait to try it out.

I just picked up a C5000 Twin power fd last week. Funny how this review comes out after I got it😂 great video though🔥

I use a $40 rig 7 foot Shakespeare rod and a $20 Okuma pull in stripers like crazy.
I used a stick with a hook at the end pulls in rock fish and eels like crazy
yeah dinks
I eat Jack all the time. Trick is you gotta treat it like low end beef. I bleed it, filet it, cut it into 1 inch cubes, soak it in salt water for an hour or so, smother it in dales or Montreal steak seasoning and lemon juice about a half hour, then grill it. Delish.
Ok I’ll try it again!
Best fun setup is an expride 6'10 mag light paired with an exscence 3000. Put on 6lb line and have a blast.
This is how we love to cook jack, place salt on top and grill it. Yummy.
Some fantastic catches 🎣🔥👌 enjoyed watching nice video 😍👍
Just picked one up for Tautog in the fall/winter. I'll use it for stripers, blues, seabass and flounder in the spring/summer.
I have a Twin Power 5000. It’s an awesome reel very smooth!! Tight lines !!🐟🐠🐡
Man what a fishery.your so blessed with all there is

Letssss go another video!!!!!!
This place look like the Guanna Lake in South Ponta Vedra Beach in Jacksonville, Florida. This place is a very good place to fish...
Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 6500c3 is the last reel I bought and my favorite workhorse is the 5500c3.
Caught loads of Jack Trevally, as we call them, average eating but great fighters on light tackle, usually put them back to grow bigger
You are always the reason why I wanted to go fishing. I get jealous every time I see your rod bent.
Okuma leads the way
Nice fishing skill💯 Good video🤩
Pay for the Quality! 🤙
The Twin Power FD is a nice reel. However for similar money the Certate LT is on another level.
I’m not brand biased but I’ve owned both and in the 5000 size especially the Certate is a different beast!!
I did buy a IRT reel this year.....a awesome reel. Made in USA
Great video my riend god bless you and your family and friends
how do you feel about Twin Power FD/XD versus Sustain FJ?
Hi Sir, Good day! Almost 1 year I used Sougayilang brand reel and rod 1.5m and 3.5m both fresh water and saltwater.
Great looking set up you have
That's one good reel right there! I might try it myself and see how it goes.
He gave her some luck!!! On camera 📷 👍
What’s the location of this area? I’m going fishing this weekend and live a hour from Jacksonville. Been wanting to find a location down there where fish actually bite.
Nice video!! Do you ever use a baitcaster? What have you used?
Awesome brother
That is smaller TP stradic. The new Stradic SW 2021 is really a great reel.
so glad you reminded me, I'm about to go for five days surf fishing and I didn't pack my sidecutter - just in case I hook into a gull.
Good thing I reminded you!
Let's get it 💪
Hey skipper what model did you get I’m thinking something for blues STRIPERS
What do you think of the shimano vanford?
Buy what you like if you can afford. It doesn’t matter what other people say
This reel is not $500 with tax. You have the Twinpower FD which prices range from 399-419. The shimano twin power SWs are the ones that are 479-639
What size rod were you using with that reel? What do you recommend for rod lenght and power?
what happened to the 'Easy DIY Surf Fishing Rig' video? its gone private!
Enjoy watching your videos

Jack..... well have you ever tried to cook it grilled inside the foil with diced tomato, red onion, ginger. Try it its good!
Nice!!! I ordered one too
Love it!
Love your video 🎣🎣
Awesome video ….need help with waders for the surf …which wader would you recommend?
That's my man

I bought it I hope I wasn't wrong shimano twin power xd c3000xg 2017 I wanted something a little strong and powerful
i search the twinpower 2021 its defferent look the you use i think you use TP Fd 2020 right
Jack is good if dry fried or nice when steamed in foil...
Try that jack with a filipino dish like sinigang(sour soup). One of my favorite fish to eat.
Hey skipper whats uppppp it has been a good day for me because i went surfing and i did good hope you are doing good too😎😎😍
The Stradic FL is nice bruh....just sayin. And like you said, gotta take care of the reels no matter the price range and it will last a long time.
11:23
Erins like... because I blessed him
What length and action is your E6X?
Skipper, you've promised sen me a present!!! Did you forget? Didn't you?
Where did you get that reel? I have waiting for weeks for my Shimano 2021 Twin Power SW 8000HG... I heard there were significant shipping delays with Shimano reels from Japan.
Probly from Shimano lol
500 dollar reel. And a G Loomis with a sticker still on the cork......
Shimano took care of them
The Shimano is a very great rod, but expensive in Jamaica.
Hi guys, mine recent catch using Shimano FX 4000 , done a great job
2009 I bought my first twin power at 17years old.. it was beautiful.. then it got stolen :( remember not to keep your gear in your car.. wish I had more time now to go fishing.
The smaller pan size Jack is better tasting! The meat texture changes as they get bigger!
In Hawaii we use the trevaly for sashimi.
Sweet gear! I want to get one now.
Did y’all move ?! I almost never see you in maryland anymore, I use to see you on occasion in person too fishing and haven’t since well before Covid
We are around!! Did all last year during covid here catching perch and catfish until the fall North Carolina trips. You guys don’t used Sustain reels ?
man you know all the dope spots. where’s this
Great reel, but yes.. shimanos require high maintenance for good performance. That’s why I ended up buying a van staal. Less moving parts and maintenance. You do give up that shimano-daiwa smooth though.
Hey boss.. is there a telescopic ugly stik rod?
Lots of lemon and some salt and butter helps anything taste better
7’6” or 8” GCX inshore!?
