Thanks - as always! I got my CF from the Philadelphia Consulate this fall. Way in advance of having all my Docs for JS but at least this is done. I will be applying in Italy - probably in Rovigo so Marco's people can work with me. Currently live in Philadelphia jurisdiction. Can't believe they sent my CF within 3 weeks! They sent a Letter with my Code and official Stamps. I believe they don't send a Card now - maybe it's all going Digital.
At the Miami Consulate, you can apply when you pick up your passport. Fill out the form which you can get on line. It will tell you what else to bring. Turn it in at the desk and wait, wait, wait. You will get the number from them in 2-3 weeks MAYBE. The plastic card took 3 months, although they told me one month.
We obtained our codice Fiscale (one each) when we were buying our house here. Our real estate agent took us to the bank to open a bank account and get the codice Fiscale. You have reminded me that neither of us has ever received the plastic card, only have the paper and the number entered on my phone.
Hey There Maggie :) That's great you already have the number and place to live taken care of. As long as you have the code you don't really need the plastic card. Do you have the tessera Sanitaria? If so then that takes the place of the plastic codice fiscale card :) But if you don't have either than the best thing is to speak with your local tax office and tell them you have the code but not the card.
Thank yo, that's very kind of you to say, I really do appreciate that ^_^ Where in Italy did you move to? Good luck on your new life in the muthaland ^_^
Hello Rafael. Just found your channel on RUclips. Love your stuff, please keep it up. Just finished the jure sanguinis process and want to retire in Tuscany, your help is invaluable.
Hey Mark! So glad you're enjoying the channel! Congratulations on finishing the process successfully! Always great to hear about other people who've gone through the process and are wanting to learn more ^_^
Haha glad to hear, I have a few other videos on similar subjects if you’re needing, also if you ever have any questions feel free to contact me via email or pm ^_^
Thank you so much Rafael for these videos. I will be studying in Florence this coming September and these information do really help for a student who is just going to start out her life. Keep the contents coming because it is really useful and i really appreciate these and of course subscribed! (:
Hi Rafael, Thank you for this, we are working on it as we speak, as we have our "visa" interview down in San Francisco in Aug. perhaps we will be able to obtain our number also, then again perhaps not. Ciao Francesca . We are loving your viedos.
Hey Francesca! So glad you’re loving the videos, hope they’ve helped or will help! If you ever have any questions I’m always here ^_^ Good luck and please keep me updated on how everything goes ^_^ Also hi to whoever is a part of the “we” that mentioned haha
Thank you haha, I 'd say my accent is probably better than my actual ability to use the language... I actually did a video with a few things that I like to do when learning a language here's a link: ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=AYx2ECQYPjQ but I really have to say there's nothing like being able to be fully immersed and being forced to use the language... makes a huge difference... be willing to make mistakes also watch television show's that you're already familiar with, with Italian dubbing and English subtitles.
I realize your audience is probably younger people, but I did not see a video that explicitly addresses paying income tax in Italy. I heard that half of the Italian population earns less and €15,000 per year and does not pay income tax. There is a community of retirees that get a visa based on proving income of over 30,000 per year and in that case They would have to file an income tax return in Italy and also in the United States. Any insights into this would be helpful. Thanks
Thanks so much for your comment! I know when I was first figuring this all out I was quite confused. Not that I have a better handle on the system here, I figured maybe it might be a good idea to make videos on the subjects I was searching for. There will be plenty more videos to come!
Hi Rafael 👋 thanks you sooo much for this valuable information. I want to ask you please, I'm going to move to Foggia to start new job ,the employer submitted my contract in the Unico sportello in order to get working visa, so after the sportello approved my contract . can I start the procedure online or I have to ask the italian Consulate to issue it here in greece Along with my Working visa as I want to rent in italy ? Or you think it's early step! Because I don't have an official address yet ? Could you advise please?
Hello! I am a master student in France and i will be studying as an Erasmus student on February in pisa, italy. I have to apply for residense permit within 8 workin days as soon as i arrived so i need a fiscal code for this. So, could you pls tell me is it faster to get a Fiscal code through the italian consulate in france or if i do this after my arrival in italy? please help!
Hi Rafael, I need some clarification on when i can apply for the CF... I am an american citizen, living in the US, and want to buy property in Italy in the next 3 or 4 months. I don't have a dual citizenship yet, but can i still go to the New York Consulate and apply for the CF??? thanks, Angela
Hi Angela :) The problem is that different consulates have different policies and there isn’t one policy that governs them all so I really can’t say. It would be best to contact them directly to see what they say. If you find anything out please be sure to let me know! Again I’m not a legal professional, but I imagine there could be a few issues that might pop up if you want to purchase a home before finishing the citizenship recognition process. Firstly it can take a little while for the plastic CF card to arrive, so you would need to make sure you can request the card with enough time before coming to purchase property. It might actually be easier to get one here in Italy.... but, if I were in your position I personally would wait until your citizenship status is finalized before purchasing anything so that you don’t have to worry about visas or permesso di soggiorno or anything like that and so that you don’t have to change over any service contracts and info with your future bank here. Might be less of a headache, but if you’re in a rush to get over here it might be worth talking to an immigration lawyer and real estate agent. If you’re looking to purchase property in Alto Adige, send me a private message I know a great agent that I can personally recommend. If you’re looking for a different area I can check to see if her operates there too. Have a great one :) Rafi
When I received my permesso di soggiorno, it lists my codice fiscale. I assume that means I had completed the process. I’ve never received a separate card, should I go to the Agenzia Entrate to see about receiving the actual card?
I have not received the card either. But when I went to make SPID at post office, they told me to get the physical card from ufficio Entrate. And when I went to ufficio Entrate, they told me that the card doesn't exist anymore .
What is the name of that card.which we get after the registration to the government. I think I have renew that card after 6 months but I don't know what the name of that card
Ciao Rafael! I’m so happy because I was recently recognized as an Italian citizen through Jure Sanguinis! I have a question though: I studied abroad in Italy 5 years ago and got a codice fiscale as an American student, when I move to Italy as a citizen can I use this old codice fiscale or does it change when you become a citizen?
Hey Rafa, I have the Italian citizenship and live abroad. I work for foreign companies in a freelance way. Do you know how it works if I want to move to Italy? Is it not worth it tax wise? Thanks!
Worth it in what way? Depends on where you’re coming from. Taxes in Italy can be not only complex but expensive for self employed persons. But it all depends on your specific situation.

You may want to check the website and possibly contact the consulate that has jurrisdiction over where you live.
I am considering retiring to Italy. Don’t you have to rent an apartment to get the visa and the codici fiscale?
Nope, you’re supposed to be able to get one without even living there
Please I need an answer? If I have the blue card, do I need to get the green card?
No, the blue card is the codice fiscale and the eu healthcare card combined. The green card is only the codice fiscale.
