After my recent rewatch of it this became my favorite anime.
The first 20 episodes were actually not filler. The author originally wanted to make it a gag manga, but because it didn't sell well, she changed it to a battle. That's why the first 20 episodes are comedic.

Yeah, this show has so much influence yet people don't talk about it. People already pointed out Tsuna and Deku's similarity but have you realized Tanjiro's sword style being Yamamoto's Shigure Soen Ryu or Zenitsu's awakening is literally just Tsuna in hyper-deathperation mode?
And I almost forgot. Remember that Arc in Fairy Tail where the grandson of Makarov (Guild Master) started revolting to be the next leader and started a massive internal fighting? Yeah, Laxus reminds me of Xanxus. The X on Xanxus' name has meaning though. Both of them become external allies in the future too. Can't make this shit up.
@@ellusiv5121 I can't help but also add that when my brother introduced Hero Academia to me, my first comparison is that they have also a number of generation holding the Vongola ring in KHR then we have BNHA holders in One for all's case. Then we have an essentially immortal antagonist (you know who I am referring to).
But I just told myself that anime will always have similarities from the old to now, maybe it was just the author was inspired by the old animes or like you said was influenced by it. I really am sad that KHR didn't get the credit it was due.

I love the daily life arc, its a nice fun time. And all future arcs goals are to return back to simpler times. Most anime protagonists want to become the best there ever was. Nah, Tsuna just wants to return back to the way it was before. Love that!

I really wish that reborn stayed around longer or Atleast got a proper remake with an ending this time. Katekyo Hitman Reborn is probably my favorite because Tsuna is so relatable, he feels more real, especially with his fear of trying and lack of athleticism in the beginning, unlike most other shounen characters who are talented and determined right off the bat. The other characters are also pretty enjoyable and unique to a degree.

I got into Reborn a few months back and finished it a few weeks ago (the anime only goes up to the future arc and you're only able to complete the whole story if you read the rest of the manga (You might already know that)) and it's hands down one of my favorite anime/manga series I've seen so far.
You don't see many protagonists like Tsuna. He's seriously a breath of fresh air.
Anyway, dope as hell to see a Reborn video in the year of our lord 2020. It was a nice sip of water in the mostly dry dessert that is the Reborn fandom nowadays, lmao.

I also would like to say that, "the show is old" reasoning is rather cliché as hell. Srsly.. Look at how far back Dororo goes! They animated it & gave us a cool intro with it to boot. Just stopped watching after the main protagonist got into deeper relations with his actual blood relatives.

Absolutely love KHR sooo much and it’s definitely underrated! It was really popular in Japan, but I believe it’s not as popular or doesn’t get as much hype because it didn’t do well internationally. (At least in the US anyways.)
Also, I would have to disagree that the first 20 episodes aren’t filler, they’re crucial to the plot and serves as character development. Which you did state in the video, but I still wouldn’t claim “filler.” Glad to see a KHR video regardless. 🧡💛🥲

in Russia we still reread the manga, regularly write fanfics and even in 2019 our artists made a fanzine
I wanted to point that out too but wanted to check if anyone else did it already. If you read the manga these "filler" episode are actually in the manga. And there is actually some stuff that was left out in the anime. For example Yamamotos small backstory which is kinda....dark? I understand if it wasn't put in the anime as this may have hit too close to home for some people. But personally Yamamoto is my favourite character and has still been to this day. ❤️
I find it pretty sad that such a popular anime has been forgotten by most people and I think never even got adapted to different languages.
I watched and read KHR 8 years ago and I swear to god it always makes me so nostalgic when I rewatch it. it always makes me remember the start of my teenage years and I miss it so much
The first time I read BNHA, I felt the similarity between Deku and Tsuna. But I still prefer Tsuna way more than Deku. Tsuna is a rare protagonist type in Shounen Jump and more realistic for a 14yo boy. I don't know for other people, I personally think Deku is getting more selfish in the manga. I hope Katekyo Hitman Reborn can return one day since there are still stage plays and merchandise sales in Japan. But if Amano Akira don't want to continue it, I have to respect that.

The lack of an english dub contributed to it's obscurity.
Tsuna's conflict on becoming the Vongola mafia boss is one of the most unique spins on the typical shonen "I want to be the best" trope. The manga addresses why someone would want to be the best in something in the first place rather than just average (the need to become a mafia don due to being a successor candidate) and also what happens if the place you need to become the best isn't ideal in the first place (criminal organisation). People who bash him for being indecisive misses out on the fact that he is essentially becoming "World's most wanted #1" if he ever takes up the role.
In Naruto terms, it is like if you force some random citizen to become the leader of a criminal ninja clan.

This was my first shounen anime that clicked with me. Like early middle school.
It's been yeaaaars, maybe somewhere around 2011 when I stopped watching this show since it ended and yet I can still remember the theme song that plays when Tsuna changes the tide of the battle to his side, Gokudera's "Juudaime!" and stomach illness due to Bianchi, Takeshi's way of explaining everything, Ryohei's "EXTREME", Mokuro's "Kufufufu", and Hibari's "Kamikorosu." The characters were so unique it's very unforgettable. Hell, the show even impacted my wardrobe since I started wearing stripes due to Belphegor.

Tsuna remains one of my favorite protagonists in all of anime
This is a unique anime to me. I, for one, love the way it starts off because it's so juvenile and annoying but it encompasses that spirit of being just a young kid with powers. Going by a previous commenter, it wasn't filler but supposed to be gag which makes it even better imo as it has a slice of authenticity to it.
Then the anime progresses past like the first 30-50 eps and things become gradually yet significantly serious and stakes incrementally get higher.
I really hope we see this anime get a reboot and finish.
Katekyo hitman reborn needs a come back or a remake. I miss it already I just finished it.
Edit: I also agree older anime does have more detail than most modern anime and that’s why I’m watching more of the classic shows

I remember I watched it twice before, now I’m watching it again.
This, was the anime that made me REALLY get into anime, I remember when I was like 10 and saw the MC, thinking he looked cool so I decided to give anime a try again, and holy shit, I absolutely loved it, the first 20 episodes were probably what actually made me like SoL anime even though they were kinda bad, and after the first 20 episodes were PERFECTION for 10 year old me, when I finished watching it, I was extremely sad and was craving for another anime like it and that ladies and gentlemen, was how my first weeb phase began.

Reborn! Ahhh so much nostalgia! I love this series! I remember getting into this series at it`s peak here in the west (around 2008, 2009). It was so SO POPULAR! So many cosplayers at cons! I`m sad it`s not talked about anymore. I miss it ;-;. But, it`s still popular in Japan! So much merch always comes out~ When I saw Deku, I immediately thought of Tsuna too!!!
Reborn is my favourite anime and still is, also one of the first animes. I love the series. Personally I wouldn't have minded if it continued with its early routes but did like it developing into a battle shounen. The ideas with the flames is one of my favourite shounen powers. I really hope one day can get an anime adaptation of the final two arcs.

It's not actually filler at the start, because filler is non-canon content like the Sora Arc in Naruto. Hitman Reborn was originally gonna be a comedy, but the action was put in as a plan B in case the comedy schtick didn't work out which is why there's a major tonal shift when Xanxus is introduced

for me the first 20 episodes was pretty hilarious and builds up the characters Hayato and Tsuna is my favorite in this series. I watched this anime when i was still in elementary school and i will always imitate Hayato and Tsuna lmao.. good times

I love Katekyo Hitman Reborn, excluding shows like Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Beyblade it was one of the first anime I watched next to Angel Beats! So it holds a really special place in my heart, I'd love it if the show could get a new season though the most was some new animation clips that were shown during some kind of panel.
It really makes me sad that more people don't know about it.

This is was my first shounen anime and still my favourite. one of the best fucking series ever and underrated gem, amazing soundtrack plus great manga as well. first time seeing a female mangaka writing a shounen too! character designs are very distinct and very cool, i had a crush on nearly every single character lol
I do miss this series! It was the one that got me into other ones (before that I did watch Sailormoon and etc. as a kid)
KHR is at my top 5 anime of all time. Reason being is that this is the first anime i watched without my brother's recommendation. And I love it. Childhood anime always have a place in your heart. And thanks for the connection. No wonder I liked deku in the beginning.

There's always a spark of hope in my heart that Reborn will be remade with better animation (dUDE Tsuna's eyes in hyper dying will mode), maybe even rated a bit higher to show a bit more realism about the mafia life. One can dream ;.;
The Vongola Arc where they battle for the rings was crazy I wish they stayed on that route. The whole time travel thing was a bit boring and has been done too many times.
KHR is seriously underrated and it hurts! This show has so much nostalgia for me, I got into this series back when I first started highschool and introduced it to all my friends. They watched it too and we all talked about it, one of my friends even bought the Vongola rings and we each got a ring(I got Cloud cause Hibari is one of my fav characters) I'm currently rewatching the series and then gonna read the final arcs but now that I'm older I have to say Tsuna is my favorite character in the entire series. His growth/development is amazing, he's a breath of fresh air.
You said it nicely on how Tsuna doesn't strive to be the best and that's so true! He just wants a normal lifeXD But through new friends and going through many trials and tribulations he becomes comfortable with his role as boss and embraces it wholeheartedly. He strives to protect his friends, his family because that's what's important to him. Sorry for the tangent but God do I love him.
This show will always have a special place in my heart. Sometimes it's good to go back and rewatch older anime and take a step back from the newer ones. Older anime's have a nice art style I enjoy and great stories, I still enjoy the new anime and their art styles but in my opinion you can't beat the older ones.

Both Fairy Tail and Hitman Reborn was a contender to becoming a big 3 back than. Too bad that Hitman Reborn was forgotten here, but Hitman Reborn marketing wasn't that great back than too like it never even got a English Dub.
So it's pretty underrated considering how big it was in Japan back than, and is still my favorite anime too. Lol XD

This anime is really good. Fun chacters, interesting magic system, good fight scenes... And the villains. I really like them. Each one has a lot of personality.
If anything, the daily life arc is probs the only moment of respite for the fans in the anime if they ever decide to think about the future implications of each characters life rip.

Tsuna himself is really, an amazing mc. Like over the tons of anime/manga you'll see, even tho KHR is one of those old(?) ones, you'll rarely to won't see anyone like Tsuna.
so yeah just finished the anime abt 2mos ago. Took an interest coz my friends said its "still really one of the best" and kinda remembered it being shown in the tv when I was a kid. Also I'm that "If imma watch animes might as well check out plenty of classics, or very known animes".

And like, halfway through I realized they didn't animate the whole thing. Then just to check, I took a peak at the (last ch. of the) manga xD Since then I always think that, yeah its been over a decade since the anime but I really hope they'll continue it (still quite possible). And, after seeing the manga's ed, I've been thinking its ending is more unacceptable coz y'know...you'd really expect at least a timeskip or smth. Anything at all that would show Tsuna being the boss. Especially since he declared he'd destroy vongola n all and there's that time Nono was really abt to pass the title n so on... 'Til I actually finished it reading. While I kinda do get that they ended it that way coz, duh, its abt Reborn being tsuna's tutor. Its a fitting ending. But I'm still way all in for another ending. Even tho its least likely gonna happen I'm still also wishing for them to make a continuation (manga) :(((((

When i watched this when i was a little younger i was always thinking what if tsuna used hyper mode on his exams.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn is one of my favorite anime/manga. I like Tsuna, he was able to unite everyone to join him, even those who he exchange fist before, like Xanxus, Byakuran, Mukoro, Enma, Squalo, etc, despite being a "no-good".
Reborn is my favorite show and I think it popular as well but it beat big three at popularity like what amazing!

just because the early episodes arent action based doesnt mean they are filler. you really cant get attached to these characters with out those early episodes showing who they are without all conflict. it starts with everyone returning to a normal status quo after each episode before getting serious and showing how these rubber-band characters deal with conflict with actual consequences
I think the reason this never got popular, in the west at least, is because it aired during the time the American Anime market collapsed. So it never got licensed for home release until years later. It was(and still is) on CR, but that was before the site got huge. If it had been picked up by say Viz media, it's in their wheelhouse, and dubbed it could have done quite well.

the big problem with the first 20 episode is they cut and scaled back alot of the ideas that were there. entire characters were removed, and the initial dying will bullets actually had tsuna erupting from his own dead body being literally "Reborn" in the process. its actually mentioned at some point his old bodies just sit around until they dissolve into mush
Agreed. And the fact that they cut out Yamamoto's entire back story from the anime irks me, I get that it involved a sensitive topic but it was vital to his character.

Currently watching hitman reborn rn (episode 173) it’s definitely one of my favs so far and I wish it had more popularity in the shoenen genre rn .
Like just imagine tusuna going into deathspration mode with his gloves Version vongola ring with some high definition graphics and I think this would top some overrated anime’s rn that only animation going for them *cough demonslayer*
But yeah I’m forsure recommending my friends this show and I hope one day we get a remake for reborn with including the last 2 arcs which I heard are pretty nice ( his gloves get a massive upgrade that looks soo badass) + I hope he comes out in jump force sooner or later bc that will definitely draw attention to the anime community * for example dai from “dragon quest the adventures of the hero dai” which just got a remake and currently pretty good so far (original was made in 1990s)

Please skip the first 20 episodes. You WILL get bored. And you don’t really need to watch them. But after you finish the series go back and watch them after you’ve already been invested and want more of the show

Reborn an older Anime. Well that's a depressing thought. I saw this around 2010, and had been watching Anime for about 10 years at that point.

holy shit this is one of my favourite anime of all time
I remember reading this when the big 3 were around great idea but slow to get going I know the first 50 chapters are gag manga but still and eventually the power system was incomprehensible but there was a good chunk in the middle that was really great love a shonen battle manga based off the mafia but the follow through just didn’t quite cut it
To people who first stsrt the snime really should watch the first 25 episodes because it really showed more comedy until it starts turning into a fighting anime.
I love how you mention filler. Reborn's actual filler isn't until the 100s. almost all the slapstick that happens in the manga for the most part.
