also to brief Bri on the Hassy: you Must cock the shutter to take a lens OFF, as its a leaf shutter, so 1/500 shutter is TOPS, unless you have a 1600F (1/1600) or 200/2000 series (200th or 1/2000 shutter, these are FOCAL PLANE bodies); the Dark slide IS the shutter lock, so NEVER remove until ready to shoot (the button is a hair trigger, so can be bumped easily in a bag)- you only have 12 shots in 6x6!! the lens point IS crucial here, as taking accessories off together with a lens is BAD news, it jams the mechanics, so LENS OFF first, then accessory, and ACC ON first, then lens. the camera has a BAFFLE to protect the film during a lens change, this shuts at 1/15th of a sec. so if this is the shutter speed, or any up to 1sec. or Bulb, you MUST HOLD the shutter button until you hear a quiet 'click' to say the shutter has shut! otherwise the baffle will cut the exposure short.
My first 120 was TLR Ikoflex in the mid 80's when film was like $2.00 a roll and then we took it to the local FOTOMAT ?? great vid I always prefer 120 over 35mm which seem to sit in my cameras for awhile because 24/36 exposures take awhile out of all the shoots the one portrait of Bri in B&W was sharp keep up the great work !!
Bri you have not seen anything yet, those scans may be OK, but try WET printing them on 8x10 Ilford MGRC paper, I just did an intro to darkroom one on one, and am hooked, Mine where 645 Hasselblad negs on Acros100.
Awesome! As always! Is that the official lab Hasselblad? I know it's made several mic-dropping appearances. Asking for a friend. Who isn't jealous. At all. 🤣Seriously, though, great stuff! 🤘😎🤘
This was pretty cool - I have been interested in shooting 120 for quite some time. I don’t know of anyplace that has these cameras easily as available to test and shoot to make a commitment / compare on which to buy.
The loading looks tedious! I wonder if there ever were plans to make 120 into canisters like 35mm film? But I guess back in the day 120 only was used by professionals and hobyists, not for the day to day.
you didn't brief Bri properly, to shoot 120 all things are different, you need to hold it better, use 1/125th and higher if hand-holding, as the lenses are longer focal length and you need an external meter, for the most part (hasselblad v, Bronica, Mamiya, Rollieflex), and you gave her a Cadillac to learn on, its Auto most things, which most other MF's are NOT, the Rollieflex 6008 and Hasselblad H1/2/3, and , of course this Contax are the exceptions here, these are fully auto most things, just because the camera does everything doesn't mean a person can handle a 120 camera (as a generalisation statement); as the manual nature of these big cameras do mean a long learning curve, esp. from 135 and digital (similar format and form), the big mirror means motion blur is back as a 'gremlin', tripods are nearly always essential tools, due to glare (esp. with wider lenses), lens hoods are essential kit too. But, a GREAT thing to do, I shoot Hasselblads (v{6x6} & H{6x4.5}) and LOVE them, the Carl ZEISS Glass is fantastic, the CF lenses use the same bayonets, or similar, for each series, for lens filters and hoods, so easy to accessorise for, as one fits all. For a Beginner, film stocks I recommend are Kodak Gold 200 and EkTar 100 colour, or Fuji Acros 100 {B&W}; if you use a mirrorless to meter to start with, NO problems with exposure, and considering price of the stocks, it keeps them successful, at the start, so keeps interest, and following of the "Analogue Life"; as the more we keep on the path the more Fuji, Kodak and the others make for us, either cameras, Enlargers, lenses, or just film.
like the video in a general and the images were quite nice /some were good /interesting and she made the right choice , hassie over Contax .. but the music sucked .. had to watch with the sound down ... that shit was just annoying .. rather listen to a multiply babies and cats scream all night whilst someone runs power tools and scratches a black board with an iron gloves ..
8:37 This B&W portrait of Bri is so goood
Totally agree!
I know!!!! That was my favorite shot. I texted Mike right away and just said that shot was so 🔥🔥🔥🔥!
Through the power of orthochrome.
This was a fun one! It's 120 Time!!!
Killer music! Definitely going to win some awards on them!
@@reformedfilmlab That AI Worked hard on those lol
Long day at work for me, but your video and the fun time y’all were have put a smile on my face. Thanks gang.

Yep! Bought from one of our local photographers for the channel. It's awesome!
@@reformedfilmlab🔥🤘😎🤘🔥
The music caught me by surprise! Hah! Well done. I mean, AI may take over our music, but at least it will never take our film cameras!
Digital tried to kill film….but failed!
lol funny stuff!
The film back for my RB67 died yesterday, so this video just hurts my soul

Where can we download or buy the music?
Nothing like looking at medium format film on a light table.
Is it Bronica or Broncia? (See the graphics on the photos)
I watched this video like 3 times and didn’t catch that!!! -Mike

A little more work than 35mm, but becomes easier as you shoot it over time.
Holga vs Hasselblad… 😂 not quite in the same class!
Slight pricing and quality difference 😂
Bri rocked the 120 film. That music was awful though.
She’s a great photographer 🎞️
@@reformedfilmlab Yes she is. Everyone at your lab is. Please find better music next time. Maybe Kodachrome by Paul simon.
I knew that that was AI music. It’s not as fun as you think. Knock it off.
Great Video!
The AI music was off-putting, though..

Everyone’s already said it but this was definitely a fun video, shots were great!
Anyone else hear a little Owl City vibes in the music 😅
lol it was so fun to edit as well….just loved the AI themed music
Super fun edit for sure! 😅
@@reformedfilmlab absolutely, I’ve been hearing some smaller business around where I am making themed music to play in their showrooms and whatnot.
