    Riddick Bowe was probably the most unerappreciated Heaveyweight Champions in Boxing History. Throughout his carrer he fought 16 top 10 heaveyweights! That's remarkeble considering he was only the the Unifed Champ and WBO champ for a short time. With the exception of the Klitchkos, no fighter today comes close to fighting that many top 10 fighters in a single division.Remember, he only lost once! His skills and personal life was chaos by the time those 2 DQ wins over Golata came around.

    Riddick Bowe had a great boxing career. Better then Tyson's and Ali's to say the least.

    • @amensupremera
      @amensupremera 9 лет назад

      Better than Tyson maybe BUT better than Ali.......I'm pretty open minded BUT please try and explain that one
      Olympic Gold Medal, defeated the Sonny Liston when everybody picked against him, the Frazier trilogy, The Rumble in the Jungle, won the title again from Leon Spinks ....Bowe's biggest accomplishment was beating Evander the first time

    • @Jerry-ne8bz
      @Jerry-ne8bz 9 лет назад

      amensupremera He beat Evander twice. He was 43-1 in his whole boxing career. That's pretty impressive.

    • @amensupremera
      @amensupremera 9 лет назад

      Dawnbreaker It's not a bad career but you said better than Ali...and I'm not feeling that. Secondly, he did duck Lennox Lewis. For whatever reason he ducked the guy, maybe it was gamesmanship by Bowe's team thinking they'd let it build up ...but history will show that he ducked the guy that took the gold medal from him in the Olympics and never fought him as a pro. The 4 best heavyweights of that era (Tyson Bowe Holyfield Lewis) he never fought Tyson or Lewis OR even the best of the second tier of that era Tua, Moorer, George Foreman etc. He had a nice career I'll always see him as a "what could have been" he had been more disciplined

      Bowe is nothing close to the goat ali who is the heavyweight that has beaten the most world champions and hall of famers. Even tyson won all 3 belts just after 2 years as a pro by 87.

    their was more behind the scenes that caused bowe to not bother fighting lewis in 1993 but he challenged lewis in 95 after beating holyfield in their rubber match, lewis didn't want any of bowe!

  • @MrBumboclart
    @MrBumboclart  13 лет назад

    @WarWagon683 It was his trainer, Rock Newman who sheltered him from Lewis. In fact Riddick was always up for another shot at the guy who beat him at the Olympics.

    He could beat Lewis any day of the week. Lewis was afraid of fighting Bowe. Get it right if you're gonna comment of Lewis and Bowe.

    WOW, when you start throwing KICKS in a BOXING match, you have certainly abandoned whatever plan you had going into the fight and things are going REALLY bad for you. TOO funny!!!
    Bowe was a wrecking machine in his prime.

    lewis was awesome and amazing but I honestly think Bowe had a decent chance of beating him when Bowe was in his prime, That Referee at the Olympics was interfering and was distracting Bowe at every opportunity , lewis took advantage and almost sucker punched Bowe while the Reff was interfering Bowe was distracted.

    Can't go wrong there!
    Riddick Bowe is the best big man in history (imo) He could fight, punch, take a punch, and had decent handspeed.
    KO's Lewis, Wlad, and destroys Vitali's face.

      Wrong dumbo. In only his first 3 years as a pro he had beaten Thomas, Biggs , Tubbs, Seldon , Cooper , Coetzer and undefeated top 10 ATG Holyfield.

      Beating the brakes off of a prime undefeated Holyfield makes him great by default.

      Mate, that is one performance, he got fat and lazy after that. You want to talk potential, he had it all. 6' 5'', 240lbs+, tall and rangy but an incredible ability to fight on the inside too with proper stopping power. Holyfield was a freak of nature and it is to his eternal credit that he was able to compete in the that era of heavyweights at the level he did for so long but a man of Bowe's size should beat him 100% of the time and he didn't because he loved earring more than fighting. He also threw his belt in the bin rather than fight Lewis; can you see Ali, Louis, Marciano, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson et al pulling that shit!? He SHOULD have been one of the greats but he never lived up to his potential and his ring record bears this out...

  • @Ricky42791
    @Ricky42791 13 лет назад

    Look at bowe beatin on holyfield lmao 0:53 to 1:36 was just plain brutal hahaha and in press confrence brawls bowe was always the type to punch first and ask questions later lmao shame he didnt live up to his true potential

  • @geoffn54
    @geoffn54 6 лет назад

    Shame Bowe never fought Lennox Lewis. Because of that he'll always rank lower in the all-time-great list. Plus he didn't fight many top Heavyweights of the time like Tyson, Tua, Rachman, Mercer, Ruddock...

    Bowe would have beat Lewis. Lennox did not have a solid chin, and that would have been exposed by Bowe in his prime.

    For,some reason he don't get the respect he should get , One time he was the 2 best Heavyweights out there 2 only to Tyson ....He beat Holyfield.I believe 2 out of 3 and would have beat Lewis if they would had fought...And if him and Tyson would have fought in their prime.I believe Tyson would have won but then again ,I wouldn't have been surprised if Bowie won...

    It was a crime that Bowe and Lewis never met in the ring as pro's. A good business sense would have set the fight after both fighters have fought everyone there was to fight, and were now on the back end of the fighting careers. Instead of Golota, Riddick should have fought Lewis. Instead of Mercer/Klitchko Lewis should have fought Bowe. They were set to fight, but it just never happened because of Golota's destruction of Riddick.
    Riddick takes Lewis by KO in the later rounds. Lewis always had a suspect chin. While it would be easier to chop a tree down, than to knock down Bowe (pre-Golota that is)

    • @MDCKilla
      @MDCKilla 9 лет назад

      Bows and Lewis was a fight I really wish happened...I agree that bowe would ko him, Lennox has great skill but a suspect chin, that'd be his downfall against bowe
