Interesting video. Makes you appreciate the importance of water. In England we are so used to just turning the taps on and flushing the toilets without giving it a second thought.
Most of America is the same way. We are exploring new options and learning what works and what doesn't. At first, this process seems cumbersome, but it really isn't that big of a deal. We also have a few upgrades to this system that will streamline the process. You'll see this once we move to our property and I'll make an updated version. Appreciate your feedback! 💯🥰
Most of the locals here in Seligman haul their water from town. It has the overhead hose and is $12 for 1000 gallons. Some also have it delivered if they have large tanks. Like you, I have two of the totes.

You're welcome! I know how you feel. I wished that I could have found a video to explain this to me when we first got here. It would have saved us a whole lot of trial and errors. We do have a few upgrades planned such as hooking a hose directly from the camper's on demand water pump inlet to the IBC tote. We also want to make a built in water filtration system that all the water would go through. We usually cover the IBC totes in the summer to avoid algae growth but we would like to paint the totes black instead because the tarps flap around and make a lot of noise and degrade after a year or 2.
@the_voice_of_reason Thanks! We are exploring new ways of doing things and feel it's important to share with others so they know that there are more ways to provide than just the ones we have known. 💯
Never seen that before. When I lived out in the desert in California, we used to have our water hauled. It was required that you have a big tank reservoir.
A few people have water hauled in, but it's more expensive. I had never seen these wellshares until living here, but they are very affordable. The one we use is only $30/mo, but another town near us charges $50/mo. At first it seemed like a hassle, but it's no big deal now that we have a system worked out. Our county has no water tank requirements, so many use IBC totes. Maybe if you are having it delivered, they could require a specific type of tank. @NannyTam We started off with gallon jugs. We moved up to four 5 gallon jugs. Then got the trailer and the IBC tote. An on-demand pump directly from the tote instead of transferring it, is on the to do list! 😜 I would love to have an Artesian well! ❤️

It is a bit of a pain when you first start doing it but it just becomes a routine you get into once a week hook up and take the trailer with you to run errands and just one more stop. 😜 Been doing this almost 3 years now and working great! 💯 Thanks for watching Wiley! ❤️
Yes it is! It was a little bit of a pain getting used to the best process but it gets easier every time! It's really affordable too! Thanks for commenting! 💯😎
Well, if you do choose to get a larger fire hose you could consider using a your water and a pump system as a fire suppression system and qualify and sub-servivce fire service. There are several municipal fire and emergency support grants that you could then qualify for. To both protect your property and neighboring properties... It may shock you what you would qualify for if you are a supplementary service.
Thank you for that information! I didn't know they did that! It's a great idea! I was thinking of mounting a water pump to the trailer with its own solar panels and battery anyways. We could add a hose reel and firehouse easily. We have a hose running from our spare IBC tote to near the burn barrel and grill just in case needed. It would be great to have a mobile unit available for neighbors if ever needed! I appreciate the advice and will look into this. I don't know much about grants at all but will do some research. 💯
The new property in Arkansas does not have a well but we hope to have one drilled one day. Until then, we'll have to keep hauling. Thanks for watching! 💯
We will be off-grid when we move to Arkansas as well. We will still haul water. Maybe one day we will get a well but not for a few years at least. It's a process that we are used to and isn't as cumbersome as it might seem. 😜 I appreciate you coming by to visit me! 🥰
@michellec4857 lol yes! We actually have another hose, but it wasn't in the car. 🤦♀️ I had taken it all out to vacuum the broken glass from the back window and forgot to put it back in, so it took about 30 minutes. Oh my! 😆
It’s amazing to me how many people take water for granted and waste it, just by turning on a tap…let’s get more people into rainwater catchment systems!
Our old pump froze, and we used a different pump that needed to be submerged, so we had to cut the top. Eventually, we will be hooking it directly to an on-demand punp.
Howdy Rachel. That is a very interesting water set up. I have never seen a shared well like that before. It looks like each lot has their own meter? Do you have to pay per gallon for the water you use? It is a private well maintained by the housing addition? Just curious how it all works... Great video, I am looking forward to when y'all can get moved closer to us. See you soon. ❤- Jenn
It's actually a well from a nearby town that they hooked up share meters to so people from all over the area that are off grid can come to easily fill from. It coat $30/mo for the first 1000 gallons and if you go over that it's $3.50 for each additional 1000 gallons. We have never gone over 1000 gallons a month yet though. I had never seen a setup like this before either but all the towns around here have them.
i can relate did the same for a few years but not as far as you , still do it when going hunting for 2 weeks (2x60 gallons) Btw. not sure but the trailer chains looked like they where not crossing, mentionign so you don't loose your trailer (and water) or get a fine , also good video!!
Agreed haha! I backed my dad's boat trailer up np but this little munchkin trailer is a pain and hubby can't handle watching me try it over and over lol so he is waiting for me when I come home to back it up for me! 🤪❤️ The well we have been using is in Elfrida because the one in Douglas is $50/mo and is always busy so have to wait in line. Douglas is about 30 minutes and Elfrida is about 40 minutes each way. Elfrida has a dollar general though and that's where we get tp and pt so we multitasking! 🤣
So my biggest concern about buying a property is getting set up. Any issues with theft or vandalism ? Im in tucson and im scared to come back to someone destroying or taking what I have. Did you fence it off first? Or what was the process?
Our Arizona property is on a private road, and it is located at the dead end of it, so we have zero traffic coming within 2.5 miles of us. No issues at all with vandalism or theft! When we initially arrived, there was no road going to our property and too many mesquite to drive our camper on to it at all. We had a friend help us extend the road and make a driveway so we could get in. With Arizona being an open range state, we quickly needed to fence in about 1 acre of our living space to keep the livestock out for safety reasons as we have 2 kids living at home still. The main things we needed were solar for electricity, which we had purchased prior to moving there. We also needed water, which we hauled in an IBC tote on a 4x7 trailer from Elfrida for $30/mo. Temporary septic was a graywater trench system and composting. We did have a soil perc test done with a site plan for a future septic system. Cochise County has a special opt-out permit, which is way more affordable to build and allows alternative building methods without licensed contractors except for the septic soil perc test. You can build your own septic designed by the licensed contractor though. This is a very quiet area with many homesteads, tiny homes, and some amazing alternative building methods being used!
@@B2GOG excellent advise thank you I am looking in that area actually I can build anything and I have friends in Eldrida I will rather enjoyed it. Its alot cooler than Tucson for sure.
@rchavez1840 Yes, it is cooler than Tucson! We lived in Phoenix and it was way nicer temps here! You should call Clay Greathouse at Arizona Desert Rat Realty if you're looking for off-grid land here as that's his specialty!
We just saw everybody driving around with these ibc totes everywhere and asked one of the guys hauling one where they get their water at. He told us about the one in Douglas and Elfrida. I called the water companies for both and asked about the pricing. Douglas was $50/mo and Elfrida was $30/mo with $100 deposit. We get 1000 gallons a month for $30 and if we ever go over it's only $3.50 for the next 1000 gallons. We have never gone over the initial 1000 gallons a month so far. I had never heard of these wellshare deals until living here! Love it!
Do you also live in Cochise County AZ? Or do you have one of these wellshares in your area? I had never seen one of these anywhere before here. It was a bit of a pain when we first started this process but we are used to it now and no big deal to just hook the trailer up before going to town. We've been hauling water for 2 years now and it's going well! Thanks for watching and commenting! 😎
Our big truck broke down 2 weeks after we moved here so we didn't get to use it long and just bought the trailer since we couldn't find a truck quickly. That would be so much better and easier though for sure!
Yes! When we get water, we always run errands. We try to avoid trips to town as much as possible and try to get everything we can on one trip. Thanks for watching! 😎
just found your channel - new subscriber - are you going to do rain water long term or drill a well, or is hauling going to be your main way to get water?
We have been hauling water for a little over 2 years now, and it really isn't that bad. We do plan to do rainwater catchment in the future, which will help a lot. Eventually, we would love to have a well but that won't be for many years until after we are done building due to expenses. Appreciate you watching! 💯
Maybe I missed it but wondering why you didn't fill the tank to full capacity. I'm guessing the weight of a full tank exceeds the load capacity of the small trailer? Thanks
Yes I did mention why...it's because those trailer tires can't handle the weight of a full load. When we first started doing this we were getting a lot of flat tires! Once we figured out exactly how much it could handle then we stop at 175 gallons and we have no more flat tires thankfully! Thanks for watching and commenting! 💯
We pay $30/mo for 1000 gallons, and so it's 3 cents per gallon. If you go over 1000, it cost $3.50 for the next 1000 gallons. Super cheap! We have been hauling for over 2 years, and the price has not changed. The water is from a shared well owned by a nearby small town. The water is potable and is just as drinkable as any tap water. We do not drink it though. We use it only for laundry, dishes, and showering. I don't normally drink any tap water but you could drink this water but I would recommend filtering. We do have some water filtration setup but plan to make it more robust once we move so that we could drink this water. Thanks for watching!
We have 4 people, and we go through about 175 gallons a week. We don't typically shower every day unless we are dirty or sweaty. Showering 3-4 times a week on average. That includes normal laundry and dish loads. Dishes are done daily. It took us some time to learn better ways of doing processes to lower our water usage. If we were washing all the bedding or something, then we might need to get another tote of water for the week on occasions. If 4 people were to shower every day, then you would definitely need more like 500 gallons a week. We take 3-5 gallon military style showers also, so no long half-hour showers. A kiddie pool works great for outdoor baths if you want to soak.
I just don't want to live like that.....Lord Willing.............I am fairly knew to your channel..I started after you guys got to Arkansas...God Bless you guys..lov from South Alabama.Very interesting tho.
I know it seems like a lot to deal with, but once you learn the process, it's not so bad at all. Just hook up the trailer before running errands in town, and make one more stop to fill water. It's hard to imagine when we are provided all these creature comforts at our roadside. We have enjoyed living off-grid for 3 years so far. We appreciate you watching! 💯🥰
@rwg727 Yes, that is our normal usage. For $30/mo, we are allowed up to 1000 gallons, but if we ever go over 1000 gallons, it's only $3.50 for the next 1000 gallons. We have never gone over the 1000 gallons in a month, though yet. I hope this clarifies! Thanks for watching, and feel free to ask any other questions you might have! 💯🥰
Just maybe a little heads up switch your trailer tires out for 10 ply they are rated higher load rate.. when you think of 10 ply think of semi tires or big moving van tires and the thickness. I was a OTR truck driver for 26 years..I also have 10 ply tires on my Jeep and my Dodge Ram van and my daughters Honda Highlander.. I did that on my 4-foot by 6-foot trailer and I can haul for 4- 54 gallon barrels full of water on it and my tires are smaller alittle bit.. I wouldn't travel a hundred miles but I've gone 30..
Her trailer is more hard-core than mine as mine is a Harbor Freight version. I calculated 1 can only haul 175g at a time which matches the GVW of the trailer. Higher ply tires are safer, but won't change the trailer rating. When I get my truck on my property I will be able to fill two totes, triple the water. Can have 1000g delivered for $60. I am not in a POA so no well to get water from. I hook my water transfer pump to the totes nozzle.
@Step-n-Wolf Exactly! We will still get the 10 ply tires due to us moving soon, and these tires aren't rated to go higher speed limits. It will be peace of mind knowing the tires can handle the load better and less flat tires. We will continue to only carry 175 gallons at a time due to the weight limit of the trailer. Hopefully, we can find a little bit stronger trailer soon. Thanks for clarifying what I meant. 💯
It's a tractor supply 4x7, and I think about $1500 new. Harbor freight has them also, I think. I would recommend trying to find a slightly bigger one and dual axle for a better trailer and price.💯
We do have a tarp that we throw over the trailer and clip it for now but do plan to buy some tote covers. We only use the tarp in the summer so we have it on now. ✌️
We have never used the black tank because we compost, so there is no need to worry about emptying the black tank. Fancy bucket with a toilet seat and wood pellet bedding works amazing and has no odor. Easy to dump in compost pile and few years later works great as fertile soil for trees! There is a great book called humanure that explains this process in more detail and the benefits. Once we build a house, we do have a septic system in the plans but will still compost.
@inthetrenches7315 Yes it's much easier! I was very intimidated by the thought of composting but I honestly prefer it now! You're very welcome and have a great day! Good luck to you too! 🌞
We have been hauling water for a few years now, and at first, it seemed like the biggest pain lol but we have gotten used to it now, so it's not so bad. My husband's cousin just bought land in Seligman! We need to go visit them to check it out! I'll go check out your channel! Thanks for watching! 😎🌵
There are a lot of off-grid homesteads in Cochise County, so many towns have these wellshares. The closest ones to us are in Douglas and Elfrida. It cost $50/mo in Douglas and $30/mo in Elfrida, so we go to Elfrida. We had to leave a non-refundable $100 deposit also. The one in Douglas is usually busier, so we would have to wait in line, whereas in Elfrida, we don't. I have never seen these wellshares anywhere else I lived. We always had city water, and there was no need to research if other towns had this option. We recently learned that Maddox quarry also fills IBC totes for $10 each.
@bradleywilkerson8497 That's awesome! It took us a few years of planning and prepping. We have lived off-grid for almost 3 years now and loving it! Where are you looking for land at?
@@bradleywilkerson8497 we just listed our 10 acres in AZ if thinking about AZ! If AR, I can ask the guy we bought from if he has more available! Email me if you want more details.
I would think that would put contamination in the water, that pump was literally setting outside on the dirty old plywood, and you put it right down in the water, along with the filthy hose you hooked to the pump
We can't drive down the road with the pump still in the tote so we have to take it out and set it on the pallet until we return home and I wipe down the pump so it is not dirty. The hose part that goes in the water is not dirty and of course the part of the hose that is exposed to the elements does get dirty obviously but it doesn't get in the water. We use this water for showering, dishes, and laundry NOT for drinking so I have no worries about the water quality. We have done tests on the water and technically it is cleaner than most tap water so I have no concerns but I appreciate your concerns. We do have water filtration as well but honestly a little dirt never hurt! 😜 Thanks for watching! 😁

Absolutely in the plans! Even in Arizona many people collect rainwater and if you have a large enough water storage it can definitely be a huge help! We just bought land in Arkansas and will get plenty of rain there to collect! A video about this move and our new adventures will be coming soon! Thanks for watching! 💯❤️
Yes! We usually have tarps on them in the summer to keep the build up away and we have a telescoping car wash brush we use to scrub if needed. I would like to paint them one day though! 💯
It seemed like it at the beginning, but once it just becomes a habit, it's really not that bad at all. We hope to have some upgrades soon that will simplify the process as well! 💯

Hey. I am here from Jamie’s country living. New friend here.😊
H Wanda! It's nice to meet you! I appreciate you coming by! 🤗
Hey it works! We spent a fortune on our well.
That's what I'm afraid of! A small fortune and no guarantee...this works! 😜
Wow Rachel that is actually a pretty cool system... but what a pain!! Lol. Looks like we will be doin the same for a little bit!
It is a bit of a pain when you first start doing it but it just becomes a routine you get into once a week hook up and take the trailer with you to run errands and just one more stop. 😜 Been doing this almost 3 years now and working great! 💯 Thanks for watching Wiley! ❤️
That is a GOOD deal, for the water !!
Yes it is! It was a little bit of a pain getting used to the best process but it gets easier every time! It's really affordable too! Thanks for commenting! 💯😎
you did a awesome job
Thanks Jonesy! 💯😎
Just watched again , on the TV
Sweet! Appreciate the support! 💯
That is some process. Hopefully your next place has a well!
The new property in Arkansas does not have a well but we hope to have one drilled one day. Until then, we'll have to keep hauling. Thanks for watching! 💯
I see those subs picking up. Let’s goooo!!!!
I know right! Gary & Mary shouting out got me a few hundred overnight! 💯❤️
Really enjoyed this! Hopefully no more of that in the future
We will be off-grid when we move to Arkansas as well. We will still haul water. Maybe one day we will get a well but not for a few years at least. It's a process that we are used to and isn't as cumbersome as it might seem. 😜 I appreciate you coming by to visit me! 🥰
If you could utilize the other spicket, at the same time you could get another "cheapo" hose lol and go faster, too!😊
@michellec4857 lol yes! We actually have another hose, but it wasn't in the car. 🤦♀️ I had taken it all out to vacuum the broken glass from the back window and forgot to put it back in, so it took about 30 minutes. Oh my! 😆
I hope when u move to arkansaw u can have a well for water
Great Idea 💡 saving some $ Money 🤑 & today with everything going up,you need the extra $ Bucks👍🤩🙏🙌🤞✌️👌🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🌻🌞
Absolutely! 💯 We need to think critically and doesn't hurt to have plan A B C and D! 😜 I can't wait to set up some rainwater catchment! 💦
It’s amazing to me how many people take water for granted and waste it, just by turning on a tap…let’s get more people into rainwater catchment systems!
Agreed! We have rain catchment plans in the future and can't wait! 💯
Thank you so much❤
You're welcome 😊
Wondering why you cut the cap off of the tote? Probably contributing to all the dirt inside.
Dear God.....Make life more great for them than they can think or ask for.
We are being blessed in so many ways! We are very thankful for your prayers! 💯🥰🙏
wow that looks like a dry landscape
Yes sir! Dry high mountain desert! 🌵🌞
i can relate did the same for a few years but not as far as you , still do it when going hunting for 2 weeks (2x60 gallons) Btw. not sure but the trailer chains looked like they where not crossing, mentionign so you don't loose your trailer (and water) or get a fine , also good video!!
Didn't know the chains should be crossed or supposed to! Learning on our own as we go so I appreciate the info! Thanks! 💯
Those tiny trailers are a pain to back-up. lol
How far is the well from your property?
You should call Clay Greathouse at Arizona Desert Rat Realty if you're looking for off-grid land here as that's his specialty!
hey this is yer crazy neighbor lmao.u shoulda told us u had a utube acct lol.
😆 I have all the cool neighbors! 😜🤣❤️ Yes...I'm just getting it started! I hope you enjoyed the video! I'm new at this haha.
Nicely done! Hauling water definitely makes you more water conscious!! 💦 How did you guys go about finding a well share?
We just saw everybody driving around with these ibc totes everywhere and asked one of the guys hauling one where they get their water at. He told us about the one in Douglas and Elfrida. I called the water companies for both and asked about the pricing. Douglas was $50/mo and Elfrida was $30/mo with $100 deposit. We get 1000 gallons a month for $30 and if we ever go over it's only $3.50 for the next 1000 gallons. We have never gone over the initial 1000 gallons a month so far. I had never heard of these wellshare deals until living here! Love it!
@@B2GOG awesome! Thanks for the info :) Also, we tagged you all in a post and hope it helps towards your watch time 🌼
@@tworebelsoffgrid You're the sweetest! Thank you so much! Almost there! 🥰
We go through the same process for our off grid property.
@B2GOG my area has a shared well but it is part of an HOA. I do have an IBC tote and a big truck so that makes it a bunch easier.
Our big truck broke down 2 weeks after we moved here so we didn't get to use it long and just bought the trailer since we couldn't find a truck quickly. That would be so much better and easier though for sure!
You are welcome ❤
Very nice of you to visit me! 🥰🤗
Since it takes 40 mins to get back home, do you do your errands to save time?
Cmon FRAMILY,let's get them to 1000 subscribed
C'mon! 😜 Thanks for the support Joseph! 😎
What is the average cost of water to fill per gallon? Does it change ever? And is the water potable?
Also what rv do have 5th wheel or pull behind where did you find land
We have a 5th wheel that has a gooseneck hitch. We just bought land near Havana Arkansas. I'm not sure when we will be able to move yet.
How long would that water last with everyday bath, washing of dishes and flushing???
I flow you from Iraq ❤❤❤
Hello Iraq! ❤️ Thanks for watching! 👋
are you saying you haul and use 4x 175 gallons a month for $30.00? Thanks
Yes! Great idea because these trailer tires are not very durable and would be great to be able to fill the tote all the way! Thanks! 😁
How much did your water trailer cost and where did you buy it?
It's a tractor supply 4x7, and I think about $1500 new. Harbor freight has them also, I think. I would recommend trying to find a slightly bigger one and dual axle for a better trailer and price.💯
@@B2GOG Thank you for the info and your response!
@@cordellscott you're very welcome! 💯
Take a tarp and wrap your tank keep water clean and not green
We do have a tarp that we throw over the trailer and clip it for now but do plan to buy some tote covers. We only use the tarp in the summer so we have it on now. ✌️
Do you have septic ? I have to haul out what do you do with your black tank waste
@@B2GOG yeah I think that's what I'm going to do much easier
Thank you and good luck 🙏❤️🇺🇸👊🏼
@inthetrenches7315 Yes it's much easier! I was very intimidated by the thought of composting but I honestly prefer it now! You're very welcome and have a great day! Good luck to you too! 🌞

Cool hauling water sucks I know. We have a channel also and live at the end of Az Seligman.
We have been hauling water for a few years now, and at first, it seemed like the biggest pain lol but we have gotten used to it now, so it's not so bad. My husband's cousin just bought land in Seligman! We need to go visit them to check it out! I'll go check out your channel! Thanks for watching! 😎🌵

Did you find property in Arkansas yet? 🤗❤️🙏🏻❤️🤗
We will be discussing this question on Junktojems Homestead Tuesday night! I'm also working on a video to answer this question so stay tuned! 😜❤️
Where do you find these at the water sites
Ok thanks for the reply I have a older 28ft fithwheel looking to go off grid with been buying stuff little bit at a time I currently live in Oklahoma
@bradleywilkerson8497 That's awesome! It took us a few years of planning and prepping. We have lived off-grid for almost 3 years now and loving it! Where are you looking for land at?
@@B2GOG at this point prty anywhere
It seems like an awful lot of work❤
It sure is, but it's so worth the efforts! It's looking amazing! 💯🥰
Is it costly for the water.
We pay $30/mo for 1000 gallons. If we go over 1000 gallons it's only $3.50 for another 1000 gallons. We have never gone over 1000 gallons yet in 2 years. Thanks for watching! 💯
How about collecting rainwater?
Absolutely in the plans! Even in Arizona many people collect rainwater and if you have a large enough water storage it can definitely be a huge help! We just bought land in Arkansas and will get plenty of rain there to collect! A video about this move and our new adventures will be coming soon! Thanks for watching! 💯❤️

Hey, that build won't happen as much. If you spray paint the outside of your tank black...
Yes! We usually have tarps on them in the summer to keep the build up away and we have a telescoping car wash brush we use to scrub if needed. I would like to paint them one day though! 💯
@@B2GOG I got my powerwasher just two days ago. It also helps with watering...
@cat58732 OH! I would love to have a pressure washer! That would make cleaning the tanks so much easier! ❤️
You really can't spring for a $20 Jack for your trailer?
I just asked my husband to hook me up with one! Great suggestion! 😜 Works fine this way, but if they're only $20 and easier, then sure!
Wow. That’s quite an ordeal.
It seemed like it at the beginning, but once it just becomes a habit, it's really not that bad at all. We hope to have some upgrades soon that will simplify the process as well! 💯
I hope when u move to arkansaw u can have a well for water
I hope when u move to arkansaw u can have a well for water
We plan to haul water, but we already have a water spicket setup that is only about 1000 ft from our property. We plan to harvest water from the roofing. Maybe one day we will get a well but not any time soon.
