Also have to remember inline-6's are naturally balanced! Gotta love all the benefits of an inline-6. They are silky smooth, good torque and power curves, reliable, easy to work on, easy to turbocharge, extremely strong block and head designs, etc. The only downside they really face is poor fuel economy and potential for the head to warp over time, but hey there had to be a trade off somewhere!
The inline-six's durability is the reason why we can't have them anymore. Reliability and durability equals lower profits, and corporate ain't having that!
We still have the 1hz sold brand new with the 70 series in our market. And the new 2023 70 series I read is still going to have 1hz sold alongside the "new" 4 cylinder and vdj
The 1HDT in my 80 series is on 200k. Only thing to really watch with them is the early ones had a big end bearing defect from factory then you should always make sure is done. Otherwise it's never given me any trouble
These are not to be mistaken with land cruiser prado of those days ..they might have looked the same but they had different chassis, different drive train and different engines.. prados had 22r 4cyl engines for gasoline and 2Lt for a diesel and they were coil sprung on all 4

👍 great video I wish we could get those in the USA I have a FJ-40 straight six, basically they copied a Chevy motor. We weren’t able to get the diesel’s here either 🙁

You guys don’t have the first clue about diesels. Thank god your diesels are built by Toyota. P.S. There is no such thing as ‘Japanese Engineering’, just good engineering which Toyota excels at. Not all Japanese or Asian cars are well built.

I love inline motors over the V configurations. Inline motors are very reliable
You can get a turbo kit from Australia for them too
yes, but I wonder is adding a Turbo kit when engine is over 100k is necessarily a good thing. typically best to have turbo kit installed at new.
@@CruisingTheLand check out Berrima Diesel Mate, the do the kits and install them all the time on older engines. They are on RUclips as well.

What this guy Nathan doesn’t mention is that the best engine of all time is the Mercedes in line 5 cylinder diesel which basically Toyota copied
Yeah, they could have made it 4 vavles per cylinder. Two is too thirsty on fuel, although simpler and reliable due to this.
They did end up making a 24 head for them, 1hdfte and 1hdft
